GMB WASTE OF SPACE SO CALLED "TRADE UNION"
Have paid GMB membership for 7 years. First and only time I have asked for help I was ignored on more than one occasion of asking for the help and my emails have not even been acknowledged.
Tried to complain via their Complaints Procedure, on more than one occasion but that has been ignored too. As a Trade Union GMB are a waste of space!!!
They clearly want to help people who are not indigenous to the UK but people born and bred in the UK as per usual are treated as if we do not belong in our own country!

I contacted the Hove office in relation to a work place issue. They quickly assigned Rob Solaini to my case and he gave excellent support and guidance.
I've been a member of GMB for years and they came through for me when I needed them.
So 36 years paying into this union
So 36 years paying into this union, and they no better than this labour government trying to bleed pensioners dry.
Membership was free once you retired but these clowns choose to start charging once retired, why what are you offering.

What are we actually paying for here? Protection? Absolutely not. Apparently my boss is well known, been around the world and a good manager, also asked me why I’d prefer to meet my manager in the work office for a formal meeting and questioned me on why I didn’t want my manager in my home… sorry, what?! From a manager I feel psychologically unsafe by, do you really think I’d be comfortable having a meeting in my personal space and home?
How are we even questioned on this?!
Two representatives spoke over me whilst I was crying and trying to explain my mental health of anxiety, depression and burnout and they patronised and invalidated my feelings due to “managers just being managers.” I’ll take my £15 of “support” elsewhere as they all seem corrupt. Direct debit cancelled.
Terrible union
Terrible union. What am I paying my monthly fee for if your reps cant be bothered to contact me. Avoid this union.
Support that made a real difference
I am incredibly grateful for the support I received from Rob Solaini throughout my case. From the outset, he was professional, measured and reassuring. His advice was always fair and appropriate, and he ensured I understood exactly what was happening and what my options were at every stage.
He was consistently available, patient and thorough, even when the process became complex and challenging. Knowing he was there and fully across the detail made a significant difference. I would not have got through this without his support.
GMB as a union is atrocious
GMB as a union is atrocious, don’t waste your money on hoping you would get any representation from them. I contacted them twice, was told someone from the hive office would contact me, they never bothered leaving me as a nurse with no representation. I will be joining the RCN.
Redundancy after a heart attack
Recently I suffered a heart attack, following on from that I was made redundant by my employer. This was a very traumatic time for myself and my family.
The support and assistance i have received from GMB has been second to none. Their knowledge and expertise of navigating the daunting road of redundancy after a health condition was incredible. My particular thanks go to Chris Hoofe, Colin Griffiths and Russel Farrington

I had amazing support throughout the entire disciplinary process, I suffer with severe anxiety and it was great to have someone understanding and helpful, they gave me time and expertise and helped me challenge illegal practices, they fought for the right result and achieved it
A very painful union to deal with
A very painful union to deal with, had them represent me and just felt like they were a side character there to be seen and not heard.
Then they were to get unpaid wages back for me over time at 1.5x rate which my contact and local county council own employment policies agree I get. But managed to be a let down there as well, weeks of no updates and very little interest to be told 2 months later they won't be carrying any further
The best Union
My GMB Representative London helped me twice immensely. I encourage anyone who works in the health sector to join this Union, as they respond promptly and they help with almost everything that care/nursing staff can face at work.
Waste of time and money...scam?
Not one attendance at any meeting where union rep assistance promised. Not ever available to help and seems to be like so many these days, left over 1970s subscription collectors paying huge fat salaries and pensions for ultra-useless individuals not doing anything for members.

Recently went through a round of redundancies at work and got incredible support from Rob Solaini at the GMB. I initially just made contact for some advice but Rob actually met with me and came to HR meetings in person and online. He was really responsive whenever I needed to get in touch, phoning or messaging back as soon as possible if he wasn't able to take a call. I felt so much more confident having an independent advocate and would recommend any one to join the GMB if they can. Cheap at twice the price!
Extremely disappointed with GMB Union’s…
Extremely disappointed with GMB Union’s service.
There is no communication, no replies, and no updates despite repeated attempts to contact them. I relied on their support for an appeal, but due to their complete lack of response, my appeal deadline expired.
This feels highly unprofessional and misleading. If you are paying for representation or guidance, expect silence instead of support.
Because of their inaction, I have suffered financial loss and unnecessary stress. I would strongly advise others to think twice before trusting this organisation.

Joined the union recently and decided to ask for some advice about an issue at work. Didn’t hear anything for a couple weeks and finally got a phone call. The first thing out of the woman’s mouth was “I can’t represent you as you have joined with this issue!” Talk about jumping the gun! I was phoning for advice I wasn’t ready for a court case! All the woman kept saying was “we can’t do anything” I literally phoned for advice! I don’t get what you join the union for if you cannot ask for advice from them? She stated “I can’t come in and represent you in any meetings” again I never asked for this. It was a simple question that I wanted some information on. Needless to say I cancelled my direct debit as I don’t know what I am paying for if I cannot get work related advice from them.
Absolute clown show
"You don't have a case, we won't help" says GMB at every turn. They've had three months to give even the slightest bit of assistance and I've paid £15 a month to these clowns since 2018.
The best response I got from them was a copy and paste email with basic redundancy information from the Gov.uk website in a tone that clearly expressed their disgust at having the gall to even ask for the help I've been paying for.
Fortunately, I found a local law firm who disagreed and managed to close the matter very much to my satisfaction.
It is with great pleasure that I am no longer paying GMB any membership fees.

breaches of law put you out of work GMB
so let's get this right I have European court of Human rights breaches I have data protection breaches I have rehabilitation of offenders breaches as well as many other breaches and I need the Union to sort this out because it's put me out of work and losing 100,000 pound but the Union will not represent me because I'm unemployed. so how do you represent someone that's been made unemployed because of these breaches because of them being the licensing body that's used these breaches and made these breaches just. And the union say they can't represent me because I am unemployed. well funny enough I was still paying the fee despite being unemployed, okay at a reduced rate but that was still making me a Union member for representation. so what have I been paying the fee for?
