It’s hard to put into words how much Focusmate has already meant to me, even though I’ve only used it a few times.

Getting diagnosed with ADHD later in life completely changed how I see myself. For so long, I thought I just wasn’t capable of achieving much. But once I started learning what my brain actually needs to focus, everything shifted.

When I tried Focusmate for the first time, I was in shock—I actually got things done. It felt almost unreal. Even after just a few sessions, I can see how powerful this tool could be in my life. It helps me show up for myself, gives me confidence in my abilities, and
makes my days feel a little less empty, especially since I work from home.

I’m not sure how I got things done before Focusmate. I love this platform and I’ve tried others, but it’s by far my favorite. One of the reasons is the setting that allows you to filter for gender, I haven’t seen that on the other platforms. It’s also just very simple and intuitive the way it is set up. 5 stars!

Focusmate (FMt) is an opportunity for me to stay connected with many people I have become friends with, an opportunity to get things done, and a chance to learn about other people and cultures. I can’t imagine a more diverse place than FMt.

Most importantly, it helps me stay focused for last year. As someone with ADHD, I really struggle with getting distracted endlessly, and FMt helps me bring my attention back so I can complete tasks and achieve my goals and dreams. I realized after a short time of using FMt that my self-awareness has increased dramatically. Every 20-25 minutes, I find myself thinking, *"Hey, what am I doing right now?"*—a skill I developed as a result of using the app. It has also improved my time perception, which I used to struggle with. In a few words, FMt helps me stay present, aware, and conscious of what’s happening around me.

I also remember when I started using FMt, I was preparing for the TOEFL exam because I wanted to get into universities and study in the USA, which is my dream. With FMt’s community support and encouragement, I was able to prepare effectively and successfully pass the exam. Moreover, it helped me with the entire application process, especially my personal statement. I struggled to focus on it and kept avoiding tasks related to the Common App and my personal statement. However, with FMt, step by step, I was able to write and complete all the forms. As a result, I somehow managed to get into three universities so far, achieving this incredible milestone.

I’m studying for a professional exam and this tool has completely changed my life as I schedule my prep into my life. 10/10 no notes, I love this platform.

This app makes it so much more possible. I only wish I had known about it sooner, when I was working on my masters. You can be in quiet mode if you want and just type in the chat, but I've enjoyed the brief check ins at the beginning and end and everyone has been supportive and kind. It helps me remember to break my work up into tiny chunks and celebrate along the way.

I was nervous before my first session but now I have actually been looking forward to working on my revisions which is amazing. It makes me feel like I'm not alone in needing support. I am so grateful for this app and the amazing developers and this community

Really helpful for productivity. I'm self-employed and Focusmate really helps get my butt in the chair and plow through what needs to be done.

P.s. I have just one suggestion. Please pls pls provide options for different sounds that signal the beginning and end of sessions. The gong is very jarring for me.

This site has helped me SO much with productivity working from home. It provided the relief I was hoping to get from adhd medication which didn’t end up helping me. So grateful!

This website is an incredible tool for people working remotely and especially for neurodiverse folks. I originally got Focusmate to have accountability while studying for the bar exam, but now I also use it for my hybrid job. Once I started working from home, I found myself getting distracted by a million things. I have ADHD so I'm relatively used to getting distracted, but once I started using Focusmate, I noticed that I really became more productive and I stopped getting so distracted while working from home. Knowing that I'm on camera with someone else helped me stay focused on my tasks.

It's amazing how easy it is to get done the things that normally I would procrastinate and moan and groan and avoid doing. Such a simple solution. So easy. All I have to do is make an appointment to do the "thing," then I show up, and I do it! It's like a miracle! Easy productivity.

Great idea and well run platform! I get so much done while on a focus session. I have used it for packing, cleaning, getting my to do list taken care of, and mostly studying.

I started using focus mate a few months ago as I've ventured out into entrepreneurship and needed to create some structure and accountability in m days. Overall, it's great. My sessions have been productive and I enjoy meeting people from around the world and getting a glimpse into what they're working on.

I have had a few sessions where people didn't show. Usually, I get paired with another person, but the 2x that hasn't happened, I kept my camera on for the session and got some work done. Not as productive without the accountability but still useful. I recommend Focusmate and think it's a good value for weekly virtual co-working sessions

I love using FocusMate. Working with others really helps me plan my time and stay attentive instead of getting distracted.

This website has changed my life for real. It helped me finish my master's, look for and FIND a job, practice my instrument, and so much more!! Always a delight! Brilliant Service for people who have struggles with task initiation/staying on task. I adore the human and socialisation component.

Focusmate is an essential tool to keeping me on track and accountable to the goals I've set for myself. I used it years ago to help me stay organized and on track for my full time job, but somehow forgot how invaluable FM was.

Today, as a solopreneur with ADHD, I have a really hard time staying on track with the things I want to accomplish and end up going on tangents and not following through on what's most important. I'm so glad that I remembered Focusmate. It's so simple that it doesn't "feel" like it should be all that helpful, but it truly is!

Especially now that I can add subjects for the sessions that then sync with my calendar, I can use it to plan out my entire day as a series of subject-specific sessions. Doing that, and then actually telling my focus buddy at the start of the session what I'm going to work on (then reporting back at the end), does wonders for helping me stick to what I've determined is important. It also helps me to 1) plan ahead (which I'm not great at), 2) reflect on how I'm spending my time and how I'm managing my energy, 3) better utilize large blocks of unscheduled time (which to many of us with ADHD are overwhelming and often not put to good use), and 4) FEEL ACCOMPLISHED, which I'd really been missing.

In addition, the Focusmate team is super responsive and friendly. I recommend Focusmate to everyone I know, especially those with ADHD!

I find this so helpful when I am trying to read difficult papers for meetings. I know people use it for all sorts of things but it helps me to concentrate, and I enjoy meeting the different people from around the world. Focus mate is really easy to set up and easy to use. The trickiest thing is remembering to turn up absolutely on time!
