Unfair, unreasonable and one sided ruling.

Just went through a dispute with a renter through Outdoorsy. A renter caused significant damage to the tune of $7300 to my camper. After submitting documented evidence showing more than sufficient proof, including signed contracts, statements, and estimates from 3 professional repair facilities. The arbitrator Kathy Vodges had the audacity to rule that there wasn't sufficient evidence. She made an extremely uninformed and biased decision to award me $500 for these damages. That is equivalent to less than 3 hours of labor at a repair shop. Absolutely ridiculous, unreasonable, inconsiderate, unprofessional and unfair. She has no idea about how things are in the real world nor does she understand the real cost of things. I highly recommend anyone who is considering using this platform to take your chance in small claims court as this was an absolute waste of time and a huge loss. I now have to cover these damages myself. Seems to be a common theme among users of fair claims. STAY AWAY.

If I could give less than one star

If I could give less than one star, I would.
I am a professional mobile mechanic. A customer hired me to work on an old Mercedes with many pre-existing mechanical and electrical issues. When I arrived, the customer admitted he had already attempted to repair the vehicle himself, which caused additional damage. We discussed this clearly, and he agreed that some parts would be ordered later and addressed in a future visit.
I completed the agreed work and resolved most of the major issues. After the work was done, the customer refused to pay and filed a complaint through a third-party platform and then through FairClaims. He submitted a few photos that did not prove his claims and ignored the damage he personally caused.
During the arbitration hearing, I explained everything clearly and honestly. Despite this, FairClaims allowed the customer to bring his wife as a witness, which felt inappropriate and biased. There was no independent expert evaluation of the vehicle.
Most concerning, the arbitrator ignored the actual market value of the car, which is not even worth $2,500. Despite this, FairClaims ruled against me and ordered me to pay $8,000, an amount far exceeding the vehicle’s real value.
This decision was unreasonable, one-sided, and financially devastating for a small business owner. The process did not feel neutral or professional.
I strongly advise contractors and service providers to avoid FairClaims. The arbitration process is not fair, not balanced, and not reliable.

NEVER AGAIN

Had to use them via Outdoorsy. NEVER AGAIN. The other party lied, submitted paperwork for an entirely separate province, ignored the fact that they had to pay our deductible etc. It cost us a vehicle, and eventually $25000 in upgrades, additions and time. Lost business with that vehicle is entirely separate and would have been tens of thousands in that time. Took place during the last 3 years

The corporation will always win in arbitration at FairClaims, even when they admit they were wrong and should lose

Like other users have said, if you are facing a corporation, you will never win in arbitration at FairClaims. The Turo representative in my case admitted that Turo was wrong to reject my reimbursement claim, yet the arbiter still sided with Turo. Even the company admitted they were wrong, yet I lost in arbitration at FairClaims. A real Kafka-esque experience.

Go to court instead of fair claim arbitration process

This complaint is against FairClaims for lacking fairness. As homeowners, we hired a contractor for door installation, but they caused significant damage, introduced unexpected charges, and left the site unfinished. I reported the issue to Thumbtack, which recommended filing a claim through FairClaims. I submitted extensive evidence, including photos and message exchanges, to support our case. Despite this, FairClaims ruled in favor of the contractor, overlooking clear proof and multiple instances of dishonesty. Also, the contractor did not provide proof of purchase of material. Based on our experience, I do not believe FairClaims is an impartial platform, and I would not recommend using it. Going to civil court is going to take longer to get your money back, but it is a fairer system than a FairClaims arbitration process.

I’ve read countless reviews about…

I’ve read countless reviews about incompetence, unfairness, and how this system serves the interests of big businesses while often playing dirty. I had no expectations and was mostly curious about the process. Unsurprisingly, the decision was in favor of the big business. The entire process was laughable - corporate lawyers didn’t even try hard, as if they already knew the arbitration would side with them.

The appointed arbitrator had online reviews labeling him as lazy and dishonest, which matched my experience. It felt like he didn’t bother to review the evidence or materials and simply made the "right decision" for the corporation.

This is not the place to seek justice, nor should anyone support these so-called "independent parties." Negative reviews receive generic responses like, "We understand you're upset," or "You can appeal." I’m not upset, I’m just sharing my experience, where proving 2+2 equals 4 - or even 22 - would still fail if big business claimed otherwise.

I hope to warn others considering this path. Don’t expect your case to be thoroughly reviewed or the decision to be fair.

It’s a scam.

Fair Claims is the arbitration company for Outdoorsy, a third party RV rental company.

Outdoorsy pays Fair Claims to arbitrate problems with RV owner & renter. Based on BBB reports, 73% of the RV owners win the arbitration & receive money.

This happened to me, I rented an RV that was nothing like the description in Outdoorsy. The owner even put out an APB for my felony arrest of stealing the RV as she didn’t like me.

Of course Fair Claims found for the owner though I had significant documentation of everything.

Don’t get involved with these people or you’ll be very sorry.

UNFAIR and BIASED

As a homeowner, we filed a complaint against a contractor that we found from Thumbtack. Thumbtack suggested we can go with FairClaims, but we were not aware that they are associated with Thumbtack and favor them and their contractors (who actually pays Thumbtack).

All my proofs were ignored and the contractor's lies and ChatGPT proofs were accepted.

I provided the photos of mesh windows lying outside, the contractor agreed that they forgot and never came back to fix, i showed photos of ripped mesh, but FairClaims judge was just biased.

I provided photos of how they scratched all the floors and denied the service. They never came back to fix the minor jobs for which I paid an extra $$. Despite sharing all the proof.

Highly unfair judgement and completely baised. I'd never recommend any homeowner to ever use them. It is always better to use a unbiased route.

I should have googled FairClaims and checked other review sites before trusting on them.

Keep your hands of Fairclaims

The arbitrator was biased and did not properly consider the evidence. Since Fairclaims is paid by companies that provide this service, you can be sure that they will never rule against these companies. So a fair judgment is not possible. Keep your hands off Fairclaims and go straight to court.
