Beware delivery dates and get some written confirmation
I visited the EZ Living Showroom and ordered a sideboard in person with the sales rep.
I was offered delivery on a date that did not suit as no one was going to be at home for the greatest part of the day.
I agreed with the sales rep that it would be delivered on a different date, one where I would be home. We agreed that date and he told me he had booked me in for the date that suited me.
I then had to agree to various terms and conditions about what would happen if I changed the delivery dates or if I wasn't home when they arrived. This is subject to various fines and restocking fees. I was given a sales receipt with no mention of the delivery date one way or another.
To my horror, I got texts and emails the day before the wrong delivery date to say that my furniture was on the van and being delivered the next day, the day that I explicitly explained did not suit. I was not going to be home, as I had explained to the sales rep.
When I contacted EZ Living to say there had been a mistake, I was told that they would see if they could rearrange delivery and "it would probably be ok".
The next day, the wrong day, the furniture was delivered in the late afternoon (which by the way, was not the window that I had been advised of). Thankfully my husband had just arrived in the door and could take receipt.
I have no way of knowing when delivery is actually booked for, but I have to sign up to punitive fines if I am not home to receive it.
The way EZ Living works is that you *verbally* arrange a delivery date, and then you sign up to terms and conditions *in writing*. So how can you know what they have done? It's not fair on the customer to be held liable for mistakes made by sales staff.
Delighted with the furniture, by the way, thought it was good value for good quality. So it's a pity that this bit had to ruin it and I wouldn't shop with them again.
