Disorganised, outdated, and not worth the money

I’ve had a really poor experience with Everyone Active at Bracknell Leisure Centre.

I’ve been paying around £30 a month for a swimming membership, despite not using it regularly. When I finally turned up, I was told I have an “outstanding balance” from 2021 — something I have never once been contacted about.

No emails, no letters, nothing. Yet they’ve continued taking monthly payments without resolving this or even informing me. That’s completely unacceptable.

To make things worse, the swimming pool wasn’t even open when I arrived, so I couldn’t use the service I’ve been paying for.

Then there’s the booking system — you’re paying for a membership, but still have to book the pool in advance. That defeats the whole point. You should be able to turn up and use what you’re paying for.

The whole setup feels outdated and disorganised, like their systems are years behind. It honestly feels like the left hand doesn’t know what the right is doing.

For £30 a month, this just isn’t good enough. Prices are going up, but the service is going backwards.

I’ve cancelled my membership and won’t be returning. Would not recommend.

Excellent service

My comments are for Bracknell Everyone Active. Having reached my annual swimming renewal again I always have to remind myself how good it is for me! Always tempting to have a long lunch rather than go for a swim but I always feel better once I'm in the water. Then there is the added bonus of cheerful staff that always greet 'customers' with a bright smile, from the cleaners / life guards to the staff that I know by name including but not limited to Michelle, Jenny, Ben, Claire and Mary. Thanks for the past year and here's to another year of exercise and lifting my mood.

Bracknell Leisure Centre.
I have the "swim membership" at this centre. The training pool has recently been refurbished and is lovely now although the process was very inconvenient. There is a very unpleasant smell from the toilets in the ladies changing rooms which are rather dated now. On the plus side, the trainers are good and effective and the desk staff are always helpful and friendly. However, the app drives me to distraction; it's hardly state of the art. Considering how little personal information there is on there, accessing your own account is difficult - for some reason, it's the one password which can't be saved by Google. Everyone Active only sends emails from a "no reply" address and emailing them from the account is a pain in the neck. Finally, I recently cancelled a class at short notice after checking that there were plenty of spaces available. I was charged £4. I paid it because the conditions do state that cancellation within four hours will incur that charge. However, their justification for charging £4 if you just don't turn up, meaning someone else could have had that place, doesn't hold water if there are already free spaces.
I notice that a reply to poor reviews, from any of the Everyone Active centres is a rare event. Presumably that's another job for the admin staff .....

Not able to get on morning classes anymore unless book way ahead of time but need the flexibility because of the school runs! This has only been a problem in the last few months I’ve noticed and looks like some of the classes may have reduced the amount of numbers they take as some used to be 25 spaces down to 20 a bit disappointing as I’m paying the full whack membership and can only attend in the mornings and book a week ahead in case of any change I have personally so difficult to book in advance two weeks a head. Very sad as the staff are very helpful and lovely though and try to help if there’s a problem with other things ie equipment time of classes or cancellations.

Spent a great time today at softplay with my great grandchildren and friends and their children today ,

The reception team are amazing SHARON especially nothing is every to much even under pressure with ques of people she is always polite and respectful and apologise for the wait such a great front if house

All the staff were lovely and helpful on the front desk but the actual soft play area was total chaos. No staff member on duty to prevent the bigger kids invading the toddler area. My 28 month granddaughter got hit and kicked plus pushed out of the way. I shan't be taking her there again

What a humiliating horrible experience with the cold expressionless monosyllabic young man at the membership enquiry desk this morning. No smiles, no encouragement, no offer of explanation of the various offerings at Bracknell, an uncomfortable callous and cold 'stare' was the reaction to my confession I'm not technically proficient, and needed help as the website is so mystifying and can't get a straight answer. Shame on you.

Family swimming today was such a disappointment:
1) I don’t know what they are aiming for but it was not warmer than 23-25 degrees and I was not the only one noticing it.
2) dirty floors in the changing rooms with clumps of hair, dirt and pools of water. I don’t know if they clean it once in a while but definitely not clean before our session and was not cleaned after our session making it all build up. Just not hygienic at all even if you wear shoes and that’s exactly what many people did, just wear trainers walking in.
3) mother with older boys changing in the female changing room rather than opting for a family changing area. I personally do not feel comfortable being in the changing room with older boys (estimating only but they were about 10). NSPCC recommends children older than 10 to have their own rooms, so why can’t this be applied to changing rooms??

I visited the gym. Equipment was clean and tidy. Members of staff on duty during my visit were friendly and knowledgeable and were happy to provide help and guidance on equipment use and technique I felt motivated and energised after my workout.

The facilities provided are great. In addition to the well equiped gym there are many classes to join, at no additional charge. The staff are all very friendly and happy to help with any questions or support in the gym.
The only downside is the classes are usually well booked and I only have a 1 week window to book a class. Each week the Pilate classes are always booked before I can request one.
Otherwise, a fantastic facility, which I use 3 or 4 times a week. Since starting 4 months ago, my health and fitness have definitely improved.

Amazing place , body balance shapes , Pilates , all the staff so helpful, I use the gym a lot again really helpful friendly staff, Thank you

The centre itself is not so bad, but the services are extremely poor. I have been waiting for 2 years to see my son's sport passport and still nothing. Not to mention the attitude of staff when you try to ask for advice.

Many thanks to the excellent staff at Bracknell for another year of swimming. I have to admit that I'm not keen on exercise, but the staff here are always so cheerful and welcoming that it would be rude not to renew for another year! Great job done by Ben and the membership team, Jenny and her pool team and the lovely people on reception.

As a platinum member, the centre is fantastic value for money. Would recommend!!

The last time that i used the public swimming pools at Bracknell leisure center was when i was around 7 years old and that was when i was taken there with my parents, roll on 45 years and i am back as a adult. Overall the center seems to have had upgrades in areas such as the gymnasium but the pool area and changing area looked so tired and exactly how i remembered it around 1980. On changing i am not even sure if there was male and female specific changing areas due to poor signage. The 3 pools looked exactly as i remembered them with only the diving board missing. The pool tiles looked horribly stained and the ceiling missing tiles. It did not look like the pool has had any recent attention spent on it at all. To summarise the pool area felt like it was stuck in the 1980's with drab decor, lighting and stained tiles. It felt like something you would expect from soviet Russia. i will stick with places leisure in my own town for a while even though they only have 1 weekly quiet swim session.

Bracknell Leisure Centre. Participated in my favourite class - Body Pump. Studio is light and airy. Instructors are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and fun to be with. The class is adaptable to meet the needs of a very beginner to an experienced “pumper”. Age is not a barrier in this class.

Since its refurbishment, Bracknell has been an excellent centre to use. Lots of new kit and friendly staff

Got a platinum membership with my partner 4 months ago and hardly get a time to go there for swimming and spa cause of the limited timings, they open when you at work and when you are free on weekends they close by 4pm also there is no cleanliness, staff are rude not very helpful. There is limited machines to use in gym and people occupied machines two at the same time and you have no option but to wait for more than an hour or leave the gym. Had a very bad experience today at gym cause of the guy was using two machines he didn't let me use it I waited for more than 40 minutes. when my partner went to use the other one there was a guy doing exercise next to the machine and said I am gonna use this as he brought it from his home.
I am sure they gonna lose customers soon if they don't improve these basic things, specially timings.
