I sold my car through Motorway on Thursday 23rd, with Evan’s Halshaw Edinburgh as the winning bidder. I received an email from garage confirming logistics would be in touch to arrange collection and that I’d hear back by the end of the week.

By Saturday, I’d heard nothing. I emailed James for an update—no reply. I followed up again on Monday and left a voicemail. Still no response, no acknowledgment.

By the following Wednesday, still no update. Then Motorway had to cancel the sale altogether, stating the buyer hadn’t contacted me. That’s exactly the issue—Evan’s Halshaw failed to follow through, and I was left in limbo.
No explanation, no apology, no effort to resolve.

I was relying on the car being collected before the end of the month, as my tax and insurance are due to expire. Now I’ll have to pay for another month and relist the car in the next auction.

This is not how you treat customers. If you didn’t intend to buy the car, why bid? Very poor experience. I would not recommend Evan’s Halshaw Edinburgh based on this.

From the outset of enquiring about a used car, the sales staff were very helpful and accommodating. The car was as described and the process of completing the sale was pain free.

From looking at a new car to purchasing a car the staff have been amazing, Thomas helped us looking at different cars and Ross took us through the buying process, when we had issues with the payment going through due to a bank issue the general manager help ease our concerns. I was very disappointed with Evans Halshaw Renault Edinburgh. As part of my pre-paid 2-year MOT package, I was given a “free” health check. I was then told that repairs would cost around £1,980, and asked to authorise £570 for further investigation, with the suggestion that some costs might be covered by my warranty. Later, they admitted those items were not actually a problem.

I had also complained about the rear driver-side tyre, which has shown a yellow low-pressure warning for the past 17 months. Despite me explaining this ongoing issue, I was told the tyre was “fine.” When I challenged this, the advisor said “we trust our technicians,” and when I asked if that meant he was calling me a liar, he indirectly and rudely said yes. To make matters worse, Evans Halshaw wanted to charge £174 just to check the tyre, while a brand-new replacement tyre elsewhere costs only £82.

When I questioned these practices, I was spoken to rudely and even had the phone cut off. I was also told my car would not be released unless I paid £570. After few days of complaints, the car was finally released without charge, but the inaccurate Vehicle Health Check report was never corrected and no proper apology was offered.

Finally, I took my car to a trusted local service shop and had most of the VHC items fixed for only £520, which proves how inflated and unreasonable Evans Halshaw’s pricing was.

Dealt with Ramsay whilst buying a new car. He spent the time reviewing numerous options to help me make an informed choice on how to proceed. Made the whole process simple & straightforward.
