At the University of Edinburgh, staff on continuous fixed-term contracts for 4 or more years (with at least one renewal) automatically become permanent employees. The university will automatically review your contract to move you to an "open-ended" status unless there is a justifiable, objective business reason to keep it fixed. Whilst this is fine in theory it isn't working out in practice. What the cash-strapped university is doing is finding excuses to fire staff after 3 years of hard work and dedicated service, thus freeing the University from committing itself to further financial support. It's a disgrace and the University of Edinburgh should be ashamed of itself for behaving in such an underhanded and deceitful manner.
Utterly insensitive.
Every other university in the UK manages to give hard working A-level students timely offers. Not Edinburgh. They delay their offers until March and April and when a rejection hits, there is little time to reset. At best this is a self-important and tin-eared approach to offers. At worst it is utterly insensitive and cruel. Up your game.
Just been on their website trying to identify course fees, but was sent in circles and ultimately couldn't find tuition fees. It's an obvious concern..
First off I used to be employed by the University and it was like being an indentured servant. You were told you were lucky to be employed by them and you had to put up being abused by the academic staff. The staff turnover was really high and I regret not making a formal complaint at the time.
As regards doing business with the various schools were like medieval fiefdoms and getting proper communication was near impossible. I got the impression that they felt it was a privilege that we got to do business with them. Invoicing was a nightmare.
So bad.
DNA was taken as part of a research study run by The University of Edinburgh and other partner organisations including GenOMICC and Genomics England.
My DNA was taken without the proper protocol being used. Almost everything that happened as a result of these organisations actions is terrible. The University, in my view, has a cultural issue regarding complaints. The study has corrected certain procedures. They have wasted months (incredible but true) of my time. There is much more.
Of the people I had contact with, I would single out Dr Kenneth Baillie and Rena Gertz as being particularly poor individuals, within the overall poor organisation.
All the above is going to be detailed in the coming months on my website. Search "Interview With The Coma" and social media channels with the same name.
This situation needs to reach a wider audience and I am going to ensure it does.
Slow to respond to any enquiries. Quite disappointed
