Black dye
Black dye is not fit for purpose and not of satisfactory quality. Unusable - not what is advertised on packaging and does not match the seller's description, unfortunately. Use the product twice for certainty however it was ineffective on both occasions. Communicate with customer services at Dylon however they were unable to assist in anyway.
Don’t bother
Followed the instructions throughout, and Dylon completely ruined my bedding. I made a complain and was told to complete a lengthy form with a number of different photos attached as requested, dylon have ignored me since. Waste of money and time. Steer clear.
Dylon Customer Service Are The Spanish Inquisition
I have used Dylon many times on my item with great results but on this occasions the dye turned my grey outfit green! On contacting customer service I was met with someone who didn’t listen and insinuated the fabric was not suitable for dying.
I decided to re dye item black with a good result which rules out the fabric was unsuitable. The Dylon Colour I had was faulty either labelled wrong or colour - Dylon get better customer service advisors!
Works great on the right fabric
When I've followed the instructions properly, I've always had great results with Dylon hand and machine dyes. (Hand dye can come out a tad patchy if you don't stir it enough as per the instructions.) My machine has always been absolutely fine after the empty wash cycle instructed - even whites washed in the next load have shown no trace of dye. Looking at all these reviews saying the dye did nothing or was patchy, I suspect instructions are not being followed and a lot of people think they're trying to dye cotton when it's actually polyester or similar. I accidentally tried to dye polyester fabric once and it didn't work at all - because you can't dye plastic-based fabric with home dyes. This is clearly stated in the instructions. I don't normally write reviews, but I've used Dylon products quite a lot and feel they're not being fairly represented here.

Wish I read all the sad reviews before today. Tried to dye 2 items sandy beige and followed instructions to the letter with the all-in-one product. As others have found the result is terrible with the garments covered in blue and pink spots and splotches. I am terrified of the impact on my washing machine now. Is Dylon willing to provide compensation for damages?

I used the sandy beige dye pod on a pair of white linen pants I had made. The end result is a disaster, they turned out a muddy splotchy mauve with bright blue and pink spatters all over them. I did follow the instructions exactly. I'll never buy dylon again. The pods are 35$ each in Australia so it was a very expensive mistake. I still have a few more pods I'm not sure what to do with now. I definitely don't recommend

Brilliant.
Brilliant.
My old black jeans which looked grey are now like brand new. Yes there is some dye in the washing machine but I’m going to do a few dark washes which will sort that I think. Looking at the other reviews all I can say is maybe people are not removing the outside wrapper on the pod as I found the instructions for that a bit confusing.
Geen mooi resultaat
Wilde twee witte katoenen kussenhoezen zandkleurig verven. E.e.a. gewogen, twee tonnetjes Dylon erbij geverfd volgens handleiding. Resultaat is zandkleurig met blauw wolkig patroon. Zonde van het geld!
this is the second item i have dyed
this is the second item i have dyed. I had no luck with the first one but i tried again, with cotton trousers, after doing everything exactly as instructed a complete waste of time there is more black dye left in the machine than on the trousers, no more for me
Don’t waste your money…or your time!
Bought intense black dylon dye to use on my green cushion covers. Followed the instructions to the letter, the cushions are the same shade of green after using the dye. Don’t waste your money, it doesn’t work

Oh my god why didn't I read the reviews! I used the black dye to dye my daughters grey dress black. It's come out bright orange! She's going to be fuming!
My beautiful white towels are ruined
I am a very upset and dissatisfied customer and wish to complain!
I purchased 4 white pure cotton bath towels. After using them I decided they would be nice in a different colour so I purchased 2 Dylon for washing machines, dusty lilac
I followed the instructions carefully and to the letter, spending hours washing them as instructed, then adding the dye as instructed, and then following up with another wash as instructed. This used a lot of expensive electricity.
The results are shown in the attached photos. My beautiful white towels are ruined. The dye is patchy, darker in some places and other places not even touched.
I am most upset, extremely angry, out of pocket and very annoyed.
Unimpressed
So, I have a fairly expensive 100% cotton, grey bedding set, which has faded a bit in places but is still otherwise in excellent condition so I didn't want to throw it away.
I decided to dye it using Dylon Smoke Grey machine dye. I bought 3 pods and got cracking. I split it down into manageable weights and I thought at first it had all come out nicely. I followed all instructions carefully and have used black dylon many times before with no issues.
It was only when dry that I realised the duvet cover and 2 pillow cases are covered in big, inky blue patches. They look an absolute mess and are frankly ruined. I wish I'd just left them as they were - a touch faded in places (which has only happened because they directly face a south facing window).
I'm now in the process of attempting to dye them again and see if that has any effect but I'm not holding out much hope. If the problem remains, I will have to bin £150 of bedding.
Have dyed clothes every now and then…
Have dyed clothes every now and then throughout my whole life, so I know exactly what to expect.
Obviously followed Dylon instructions to the letter. Used a beautiful peony pink... so I thought.
100% washed clean 100% cotton, 100% everything CORRECT.
😄 🤣 😂 😆 😄 🤣 Nothing at all like peony, maybe 1% peony 99% white. Everything is just junk nowadays, profit over customer satisfaction. Will NOT use this garbage ever again, don't waste your money folks.
Do not use Sandy Beige!
I used sandy beige on a pair of white cotton jeans, followed the instructions to the letter. They came out covered in blue speckles and had to go straight in the bin. Absolutely ruined.
More or less useless
I have used Dylon a few times. Every time, I get dark spots on the clothes. Sometimes the dye does not cover well. I will not give Dylon another try.
Disappointed at poor response to complaint
I was disappointed and a little stunned by the poor response when I raised a concern over dye failure last week - the first time I've complained after decades of occasional successful use of dylon dyes. I completed the Investigation Form, went back & forth for days sending extra photos and answering questions for Rachel at Henkel. The problem was some very darky inky splotches on an otherwaise nicely dyed garment, but the outcome of the investigation was apparently that my 'patchy' result was caused by using insufficient dye, and that I could remedy the problem by buying further products! The only thing the investigation didn't consider was anything at all to do with the product, the batch code or supplier! I have since seen many other reviews of a similar nature and I'm shocked that they behave in this way, wasting customers' time after already causing disappointment with the faulty product. I sent a follow up asking for the matter to be elevated to a supervisor but received no further reply. Will forward to CEO office in due course.
Useless don't bother
I used this as there was some colour run from when it was previously washed. I won't ever use it again, it actually turned the colour of the t-shirt to a totally different colour (originally green and turned it to brown with black patches). Totally ruined the t-shirt which I have had to throw away and didn't even shift the original colour run, absolutely useless.

Used Dylon washing machine dye to colour a white denim jacket lavender. Now has tiny blue and pink specks all over it! Completely unwearable. Avoid.
