I'm a sole trader (which is supposedly this company's sweet spot). I just spent a full afternoon doing a deep review of all of my accounting to find that they haven't done any sort of cash reconciliation, they overstated my financials, and build my tax return on that basis. You know something's wrong when your tax bill is more than you made for the year.

They placate and make excuses for why they didn't understand the business...even with a dead simple business like mine. This was sloppy, shoddy work and they should be ashamed of themselves for charging me what they charge.

Please steer clear. I wish I'd read the reviews more thoroughly before trusting them.
They are very keen to sell their service and seem even keener to bombard you with junk emails afterwards.
However when it comes to post order advice they are really quite abrupt. I took a wrong turn by appointing only myself as a shareholder. When them for advice on how to put things right i got a snotty response.
They may as well have just told me they have my money and don't care anymore.
Duport, please be assured that if in need further services I will go elsewhere.

I am a one man band operating a limited company. I have been with Duport for 10 years and whilst I am not the best at keeping my accounts up to date, Dupport are very helpful and keep from trouble with HMRC

Duport accountants have helped me set up and run my limited company without any problems. Alison at payroll services has been very helpful and has made sure the payroll works quickly and efficiently so I get all my documents on time and know what is happening. Boubacar, my accountant, has resolved all the issues that I have found hard to understand and made sure my accounting is done smoothly and efficiently too. All the other members at Duport answer all my questions when I contact them, and have given me all the support I need so far. Their attention is always friendly. I thoroughly recommend them.

We have been really happy with Duport, special mention to Alison in payroll. She has been brilliant since the start.

A catalogue of errors within our time with Duport, if you are a business that is larger than a sole trader (this seems to be their sweet spot) - avoid this organisation at all costs.

Their customer service is appalling. They have a slick sales process, but that support ends as soon as you sign.

Once on the other side, they lack the resources to do the most basic of tasks.

Worse, they do not even have an internal chartered accountant that oversees your accountants. This is outsourced to an external provider (this is not disclosed to you).

We found this out by asking if our accountant was chartered (they said yes) - then after we searched on ACCA and found no record, we were then informed that they actually were not chartered. And that this oversight was provided by a third-party.

Then it came to running payroll. Despite repeated follow-ups on our side (starting two weeks in advance) they were unable to execute this quite simple task. We had to hire another accountant at short notice so that we could pay our staff on time.

In short - do not be tempted by the cost.

There are other providers which offer very similar services, but which are actually run by real, chartered accountants.

I can't express in any stronger terms - avoid this company.

I've relied on the services of Duport Accountants for a decade and counting. In this time, I've felt well supported with regular visibility of the financial health of my company. Response to my queries has been prompt including urgent ones. The service from Duport Accountant is simply superb! This is only possible because of the fantastic professionals that work for Duport Accountants. A huge shout out to Boubacar Sow who has been amazing in delivering my accounts and offering excellent advise every time.

Duport's services were outstanding! Their email support was incredibly responsive, saving me a significant amount of time. They managed to form the company in less than one working day. I was exhausted by other agents who would take money without delivering and constantly request more documents, wasting precious time. Duport's website was impressive, aesthetically pleasing, and user-friendly. They performed their job to the utmost degree. I strongly recommend Duport to everyone for their exceptional services.

Ill-informed hacks. Don’t use them if you want to pay the right taxes and not be screwed.

Not only did I have to re-do my tax filings because the numbers were off (basically negating the need for accountants to begin with), but they marked my self assessment as not needing to have payment on account, without telling me that I need to update HMRC if my situation changed. I told them when I hired them that I don’t have tax knowledge which is why I was hiring them in the first place. Well, when I came to do my next self assessment I was charged an extra £751 in late penalties by HMRC because I didn’t have payment on account.

To add insult to injury, they kept sending me automated emails with self assessment forms at £0 asking me to sign them, so I replied to one saying that I had already filed it and complained about the late penalties I had been charged. A super uninformed person called Boubacar gave me a call and told me I didn’t need to file self assessment anyway because not everyone that makes more than £100K has to file one. So, they don’t even know the tax rules. I have this in email from him too.

Seriously, don’t trust these people. They also gave me bad advice initially and told me to register as a sole trader and then later changed it to a limited company, meaning more work for absolutely no reason.

Avoid!

Excellent accounting service for a self employed sole trader, easy to contact and a very streamlined process.
