Don's Appliance - Customer loyalty a dying breed
We moved to Mt. Lebanon in 2008 and purchased all of our new appliances from Don's Appliance. After all, they were the choice of our contractor and had a stellar reputation. They were acquired by a PE firm, Kodiak Building Partners on October 4, 2023. Like all challenges after a founder based business is acquired by a PE firm, their customer service and service quality has faltered considerably. Now, they charge you $180 just to schedule a service visit for an appliance purchased from them. Then, there is a cost of labor and parts on top of that - there is no credit of the service charge towards the work. I called twice to complain and they said they would work something out. Having purchased all of our appliances over the years from them (refrigerators, washers, dryers, cooktops, ovens, dishwashers) there was no recognition of customer loyalty. Last time they came to the house to service a cooktop we purchased from them, a high end Thermador, they could not fix it and apologized, leaving me with a $25 credit towards a new purchase and still out the $180 service charge. You are all better off buying from someone other than Don's who has premium products (both quality and expense) because the service and their loyalty is not there anymore. Sad
