BEWARE OF FAKE FUEL CHARGES

BEWARE - Fuel / gas scam. I took a picture of the dashboard electronic display where it shows how many miles are left until the tank is empty and it said 405. I filled up the gas tank right before I dropped the car off at the airport. I took a picture of how many miles it said were left until the tank is empty and it said 417. So I returned it with more gas than when I received it. They still charged me $100 for gas! Also, when I booked the rental at Booking.com, I said I wanted a compact car and I agreed to the rate. When I got to the rental counter to pick up the car, they said I rented the "manager's special," which just happened to be a huge truck which got only 10 mpg. How convenient. I don't like driving big trucks. The representative then proceeded to upsell me to a compact car for an extra $122!! I didn't rent the manager's special. I tried to show him my receipt but he kept insisting I was wrong. I will never rent from Dollar again. Totally shady and crooked thieves.

SCAM FEES

We used miles to prepay a rental at LAX, then were almost conned into upgrading (but asked enough questions to learn this). There were no agents at LAX when we returned the car and we were subsequently charged $400 for cleaning due to smoking in the car - although NO ONE SMOKED in it, nor were there any smokers in the car while we used it. It's taken two calls and over an hour on hold to get a refund, which is yet to appear. We'll never rent from Dollar again.
