We adopted through Dogs Trust Cardiff and could not fault the experience. The staff were helpful, friendly and did everything they could to assist us through the process. The team do a great job in helping dogs in need of a new home and the dog behavioural helpline is free for the dog’s lifetime in case you need it. We was really impressed and our lovely dog is settling in nicely.

Overall we loved adopting from Dogs Trust and would consider doing so again. When looking for a dog we visited several different centers and had mixed experiences. We felt that some centers didn't want to take the time to listen to what we could offer and had a specific type of lifestyle in mind. I think that more dogs may find good homes if you were a bit more open minded.

I found the staff at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury to be very caring with the dogs. I saw Sunny online and I applied and met her a few times. Everything was explained to me and I felt supported through the adoption.

Helpful and good communication

I don’t even know where to start my experience was that awful… I was basically pushed out of a volunteering role at the Cardiff Centre last year. This was dealt with, but I was advised to wait some time to re-apply to volunteer, as improvements needed to be made. The improvements were scheduled to be in place for September 2026. The centre did a massive call for volunteers at the end of 2025, having not made any of them changes, which is concerning in itself. On enquiring whether it was time to re-apply, as new roles were already open, I was victimized by the Cardiff team for having complained in the first place. After speaking to senior management for Dogs Trust overall, I have agreed that me not volunteering there with the current staff team is best for my safeguarding. I was told by Dogs Trust senior management that I am however within my rights to take legal action. The time frame for the Cardiff team to rectify victimising me before legal action has passed and I have had no apology. I don’t see why I should have to spend any money legally to get at least the apology I well and truly deserve from the Dogs Trust Cardiff Staff team! Please don’t put yourselves through volunteering here! I’m not hiding the fact they never followed fire safety procedures either, such a shame! Although an outcome was provided, the Cardiff Team have decided not to apologise!

In the UK! Those poor dogs missing out due to your utter mismanagement.

One of your hopeless staff called me on Tuesday about a Cano Corsa called SANTANA. She told me the dog was not yet up on your website so I asked her to send me some photos. They never arrived.
I went into your site as soon as my call with your colleague ended and low and behold there was SANTANA ‼️

Your colleague arranged to have a WhatsApp FaceTime call with me today at 2pm.

It’s now 4pm and I haven’t heard a word. I am no longer interested in dealing with Dogs Trust and will share my experience on Trust Pilot and all social media.

The care and support given by the team throughout the adoption process was amazing.

From the very start of my journey through to the finish, everything was made so easy. The staff were always friendly, supportive, and happy to help. Once you’ve collected your companion, Dogs Trust continue to offer excellent support—they check in after a couple of days to see how things are going and follow up again a few weeks later. It really shows how much they care about both you and your new dog.

Excellent all round, extremely helpful staff and we found the perfect dog for us. Thank you so much.

We were originally only looking to foster dogs for a while, but the team at Bridgend did such an amazing job of listening and understanding us that they ended up placing such a perfect little guy with us that there was no way we could ever give him back.

The team at Bridgend are passionate and exreamly knowledgable about dogs. They made the whole adoption process clear and easy.

So glad to have met them and even happier to have Norman in our life.

Now we have him home, it is reassuring to know that we have the contuined help and support from Dogs Trust, who have maintained an interest in how Norman is adjusting and how we are coping.

It was so helpful to receive a telephone call giving support to us this morning about the dogs Louis and Lola. The questions asked were straighforward and led to the receiver any particular support in all areas of their life at present. thank you, Dogs Trust, for this opportunity to voice any problems we were facing.

Dogs Trust Manchester really looked after us as we went through the adoption process for our new doggie family member. All the staff were kind, friendly and knowledgeable. Would recommend.

This was my second dog rehoming from Dogs Trust Shrewsbury. The first was in Feb 2024 when I adopted a wonderful 12 year old basset-hound (Wilma). When she passed away in September, I was deeply saddened. I spoke to Steff and her colleague Andy from October and they worked very hard to find me the right dog. I walk with crutches following spinal surgery. After meeting two previous dogs I was introduced in December to a wonderful 5 yr old Jack Russell Terrier Cross Dachshund. He had been a stray in Armagh and brought to the mainland with other strays for rehoming. I have renamed him Barney, and he is an absolute delight. He travels well in the campervan, he is characterful without being too demanding or disobedient. We get on famously. Thank you Andy and Steff for taking the time and care matching me with Barney
