Called for some tomato and pepper plants. A bit limited in choice but perhaps I had left it a bit late in the season. No grow bags to be had at all

I use Dobbies a lot I like coming and looking around at the wonderful choices. I use the cafe on occasion sometimes disappointed.

I knew what I wanted when I recently visited Dobbies garden centre in York. Everything I needed was availalbe

Love Dobbies at York because the staff are friendly, the layout is great and it’s dog friendly too! I can usually find what I want fairly easily and if not staff are on hand to ask

Nice garden centre. Only gripe was no boxes available for purchases, as they now get sent for recycling. Paper carrier bags only. Assistant very helpful, but unfortunately 2 of the plants broke their main stems bringing them home, as bags not really good enough to hold them stable.

At a busy time on a Sunday morning have more than 2 people on the tills, and improve the process for checking unknown prices. Having queues of 20 people on each is not a good experience!

Enjoyed a lovely breakfast at Dobbies served by friendly staff.
Bought some nice plants for my hanging basket which looked healthy and are doing well.

The cafe has definitely improved - presentation and quality of food
much better. Staff more efficient and friendly.

coffee & breakfast & compost & mulch

At cafe:
Staff very helpful, but not much vegan options, menu unclear, things that looks like they should be vegan not marked as such. No substitutions allowed on full breakfast was a bit disappointing. Coffee was very good.

Shop:
I wanted to buy some compost and mulch stored at front of shop and load it straight into car without having to lug it around the shop on a trolley first. This proved problematic. Despite taking note of the exact names, capacity and price of the products from out front, the book of products at the tills did not seem to be up to date and the product details were not listed. Had to wait for staff to go get the products from out front, load them up on a trolley and bring them to the till, which took a lot of time. Staff were very helpful and friendly and kept me informed. Would be nice if this was a properly supported way of doing business, maybe you could print the barcodes out on tickets that you can take to the tills so you can pay, then load directly into car.

Great collection of plants and accessories. Helpful and polite staff. Well worth a visit.

We bought a medium Camelia plant/bush @ £19.99.
One month later, only one flower has opened, the remainder have dropped off unopened and there has been negligible root development.

There was an impressive range of beautiful plants, hard to resist! Service was excellent as ever.
