Ordered a table and chairs for the garden on a Monday. On the Wednesday DX contacted us via text with a delivery for Thursday, as this was no good we changed it for the Friday. Then 9am on the Friday they contacted us again to say the furniture hadn’t arrived at the depot and they would rearrange. So on the following Tuesday they contacted us again with a delivery for the Wednesday and a 2 hour time slot of 1.45 to 3.45 . So we waited and waited and are still waiting, it’s now 4.30 and no sign. We will therefore be going back to Dobbies in the morning for a full refund and will not recommend their delivery team DX.

The garden centre itself is very good plenty of stock etc
The restaurant area was not a pleasant experience !!! the lady serving the hot food was rude and clearly in a bad mood she was particularly rude to a lady who had a disabled person with her tbh it made asking for food and unpleasant experience
The queues for each food counter were absolutely shocking

What a dreadful place this is ,get your supposed hot food then wait ages in a queue to pay for it next task find a clean table to sit , one that's not filthy and full of dirty pots ,virtually impossible. Staff who clearly aren't interested in the job 🙄. It's a pity because the garden centre itself is pretty good, but won't be eating there again, Darfolds is far better and cheaper

Have been going to dobbies at Chesterfield for many years. But my last two experiences in the cafe have not been pleasant. On both times staff were rude. The area were you sit with dogs was disgusting, all tables dirty, food on floor and the area by window has been taped off since before Christmas. It is very sad to say I won’t be returning

No staff on coffee counters, as per usual there are just one person who are run off their feet, I felt so sorry for the young girl serving. Every time we come it is the same, queues a mile long!

The 2 star is based on the cafe , we opted to have the festive lunch as it looked nice on the picture , we were very disappointed, definitely not worth the £16 ! Each they charge , you get 2 slices turkey, 1 pig in blanket , 3 roast potatoes ( no mash no Yorkshire pudding no peas ) small portion of parsnip and carrots and about 5 sprouts. We very disappointed and we don’t mind paying but definitely a rip off !

My review is around the cafe/restaurant we visit fairly regularly my wife has a dobbies card that gives you 2 free drinks a month and our experience is similar every time we visit always a long queue very slow service never many staff serving hard to find a table without pots on staff seem to have no urgency they do a 2 for 1 on fresh cream scones after 2pm daily it's always busy surely they know it's going to be busy staff it accordingly IMO it's the worst cafe service I've ever experienced as in it's consistently the same every time we visit!

Just visited the cafe at Chesterfield, had fish and chips, it should I say batter and chips. What fish there was and not a lot, was cold, chips only warm. The hottest part of the meal was the peas! Extremely disappointed will not be visiting again!

I'm giving up on using this cafe, luke warm coffee very bitter taste. Victoria sandwich cake dry. Birthday treat for a friend,was a let down. Waste of money. Not cheap either. Couldn't finish it.

The staff were unhelpful. I asked for help to lift an item into my trolley. Two cashiers stood looking at me blankly. They radioed assistance. The guy on the radio was very unhelpful about locating my item and said he was too busy.

Having queued for a meal, I then had to queue for a drink and by the time I had paid my meal was cold. Having paid over £6 for my meal I was not happy and complained. I was informed that it is the 'style of service ' which really needs a review. The staff however, were helpful and replaced my meal. Not good enough Dobbies!

Went down to Dobbies of Chesterfield:
A pensioners paradise, end of July.
"2 scoops of blueberry ice cream", I appealed.
"Bubblegum" came the curt reply,
From a po-faced girl, all flinty eyed.
I repeat my entreaty: "it's on the menu!" I cry.
"Bubblegum" social ineptitude at once revealed.
"Never mind, don't worry" I'm too tired to try.
"I'll take these cans of coke." my face is steeled.
She's stood behind a till, but continues to deny.
"We don't do that here" the robot squealed.

Resigned, listening to 'My Dreams Come True,
By Hall and Oates, while sitting outside,
All I wanted was an ice cream with berries blue.
Customer interaction doesn't have to be so snide!
Train your staff, happiness in turn will accrue!
A simple smile, chat back and forth, no woe betide!
It's a wonder that Dobbies has at all survived.

I paid almost £1000 for a Rattan garden dining set, its barely out of warranty, and the table has adopted a serious fault, where the strands of Rattan are starting to become brilttle and multiple strands have snapped, leaving my 1k investment looking fit for the tip,, now the 4 comfy seats are still perfect. I contacted dobbies customer service to explain, they clearly do not give a toss. Its definitly a case of we have had your money now sod off ! Its barely out of warranty but they say its out so go away, yhey have not even bothered to ask what the fault is,, or asked for images. They literally do not care in.the slightest now the time we have had the furniture its been used maybe 30 times if that, the fault clearly lies with a manufacturing issue, or a product failure, as the seats are perfect still. Not even an offer from them of a token gesture towards a new table.. I would of happily re purchased another although different table. Over numerous years Dobbies have been our go to Garden centre, and we and my family have spent literally thousands there !! NO MORE !! this very very poor customer service (or should i say lack of it) has left a very bitter taste and left us very disapointed to say the least. Im considering loading it in the car, and displaying it outside Dobbies doors with huge signs saying dont part with your hard earned cash to this terrible poor service company who happily sell inferior quality furniture.
Incidentally my last set of rattan garden furniture that was much cheaper, lasted 3 times as long and still looks good in my friends garden whom i gifted it to. BUYERS BEWARE

The worst customer service I have ever come across. Ordered a furniture set 4 years ago which was delivered by Dobbies - all went well and still perfect to this day. Returned to order more furniture from the fantastic service the first time around to have nothing but a nightmare from ordering. Was meant to arrive in 2-3 weeks, then got told a further 2 weeks, to then being delivered with no notice (luckily my husband was home) to now having only received part of the set! Customer service don’t help whatsoever and don’t seem to know where the rest of the set is. I can’t help but think this is down to the courier as it wasn’t delivered by Dobbies, but to have no customer support is a shambles! Was also told today that each time I call my case goes to the bottom of the pile! Awaiting someone senior to call me…which also takes up to 10 working days….avoid at all costs!

The cafe situated outside the main garden centre - never no what time it will open and, it depends on who is serving, whether they can be bothered to serve at all. It is such a shame, as it is a very pleasant place to eat and watch the world go by and their delicious scones are always covered, which is more than can be said for those in main building.

We were at Dobbies, Barlborough today where the restaurant manager,Mark looked after us really well, after a poor meal recently. The meal was piping hot and delicious. We intend to return.

Dobbies Chesterfield is a great store.. I visited yesterday at 11am and bought all my Mothering Sunday items.
Pushed my trolley to the car and found a flat tyre at 12noon
I rang RAC … and waited… and waited … and waited not one hour but 4…
Meanwhile a number of kind offers to change tyre were made but tyre couldn’t be removed… one kind gentleman called Andrew bought me coffee and biscuits which were really well received … he gets five stars from me…by this time it had turned cold and I was very cold.
At 4.30 RAC turned up and apologised.. I’m not shooting the messenger here …said he had a list a mile long .. the tyre was removed and spare put on… I drove home … …I survived but only just …won’t be visiting Dobbies for a while …hope recipients appreciate the length I went to buy Mother’s Day gifts I look at them and scowl !!! ….Mrs J.Hague

My husband and I went to dobbies at Chesterfield / Barlborugh today ready to spend £500 on a shed we had seen the day before. We asked at the till to be greeted with totally blank faces so we asked if they could radio someone who may know how we could purchase said shed ! Woman on the radio said there’s no one here can do it , so we said we’ve come to purchase it today and we’d like to pay for delivery as well, so next thing ‘ oh we don’t deliver’ , well how do people buy your garden furniture, BBQ s and gazebos etc. ‘ they have to take them In their cars. So we measured the flat packed shed and it’s over 2 Mtrs long and very heavy, my husband has Parkinson’s so can’t lift! So Mr Dobbies I’d like to say thank you to you and your staff for the help you didn’t give us and to let you know that your discrimination to anyone who hasn’t got a van or may not be completely able bodied has been noted and in future we will spend our money elsewhere. Your loss , I’d have thought in today’s climate £500 would be gratefully received.

Had a card for years, but let it lapes so payed £15 in December, went for my free drink , was told there no free drinks on the card , went to customer service desk she checked the card and said that it was registered and said it was working. Will have to wait until next month to try again .

We have just returned home from our local Dobbies and have to congratulate them on their brilliant service for our afternoon tea. From arriving with an additional guest due to family reasons we explained our situation and was immediatly reassured that this would not be a problem. The service and the food was excellant, First class!! All the staff that was involved with us were both friendly and very courteous. This is certainly an experience we would readily repeat and highly recommend to anyone. Thank you to all involved in this experience.
