Kevin and his staff were courteous and professional. I had no difficulty getting my Acura MDX seen and diagnosed very quickly. Using their state-of-the-art diagnostic computer, they were able to find ALL the codes needed to make the repair, not just a few leading to frustrating return trips. They got the part delivered within 15 minutes and the repair done in an hour while I waited. Unlike the dealership where I had to pay through the nose only to have the problem reoccur, Kevin and his team got the job done right the first time and at a very fair price. This shop, under Kevin's management, has become not only the premier Transmission repair shop in Hampton Roads, but it has also transformed into the family shop you trust for all your automotive repairs.

After worrying about how much and how long I it would take someone to repair my transmission. I shopped around and got a few quotes from shops over the phone and in person. I have always been skeptical about where I take my vehicle. Due to their not being many honest auto repair shops. That will actually be honest with you and tell you what’s actually wrong with tour car most shops try to upsell you and suggest many other things rather then what you bring it in for

My transmission was not shifting properly and making a. Ticking sound.

Long story short I dropped my vehicle to get diagnosed one afternoon. Close to their closing time. Customer service was amazing they informed me that they will handle in the morning.
I was thinking this would take weeks and cost a mortgage payment. But I actually received a call mid day. Explaining they may have had the fix. And at a reasonable cost.
Before the end of the day my vehicle was fixed. Not only was it fixed. They fixed the actual problem and I did not have to buy or rebuild my whole transmission.

Anyone can come on the web and write a bad review about a company, I’m not going to do that I’ll Just tell you my story and you can decide for yourself.
My truck was sent to Cottman’s by Triple A to have the right front axle seal replaced. ( Triple A doesn’t do that kind of work ) well Cottman looked my truck over and decided it wasn’t the axle seal it was the differential vacuum canister was leaking now I’ve been under my truck and never saw a leak from there also I am always looking under my truck for any kind of leaks. ( being an older truck just like to keep up on things ) now when they did this repair I knew that wasn’t the problem with the axle ( the canister they replaced is about a foot and a half to two feet away from the axle) their is no way the fluid could get to the axle ) well when I told the guy this he said oh yes that was the problem and for me to just drive it for a couple of days to see and if it wasn’t the problem just bring it back and they would take care of it. Now they charged me $110.00 for a repair I didn’t need and didn’t ask for and now refuse to refund my money. The lady behind the counter was rude and nasty and couldn’t believe I was asking for my money back and now they had to replace the axle seal like what it was first bought to them to do. I will never go to that place again and if you’re thinking of having any work done there, don’t do it! Run fast away from there and don’t look back.

I live in Northern Va and they were recommended to me by a local business after my transmission failed on a trip to Va Beach. They gave me an excellent price, did a few extras why they had my car and were more than helpful with any concerns I had. Bob and Cindy knew I was in a tight spot and came through for me big time. Wish they were closer. I would use them for any car care needs I may have!

Took truck in due to shimmy. Pulled the drive shift, balanced and replaced u-joints. Shimmy is gone. Thanks Cottman!

Very honest and profeshional. They had an opertunity to do the right thing and they did. No games played.

Had trouble with my car getting into & out of gear. Took it to a competitor of Cottman who put in a new clutch: problem resolved BUT the clutch pedal chattered/vibrated to an annoying level. That business replaced the clutch and the pedal still chattered/vibrated. Got my money back (good people though and they admitted they had no idea what caused the pedal to chatter). Took the car to Cottman, described the history and issues. They replaced the clutch and WHA-LA........all problems resolved: clutch shifts perfectly and NO CHATTERING/VIBRATION on the clutch pedal......all within a couple of hours I understand from talking with both businesses that this does happen from time to time but I am glad that Cottman was able to resolve all of the problems I had with my clutch. Great people, and......they are honest. You can't beat that! I HIGHLY recommend Cottman. Free estimates too!
