Where to start…?
5 years ago, after years and years of dreaming of this watch, I in connection with a big birthday, got my first Rolex, a steel sports model, brand new from a Rolex AD.
I love it and wear it every single day, I’m not the kind of guy, to give it a beating, I look after my things, but I sure don’t baby it either.
I been experiencing, so much joy and happiness, with my watch on a daily basis, and every time I look at it, it reminds me, of the happy occasion it was bought for.
Always thought, I was a one watch man…but never forgot, the steel “date just” I already years ago, liked a lot.
As it turns out, I’m a one BRAND man instead. My passion for the history, innovation, quality and design of Rolex, has made me a fan for life!
So when my partner asked, what I would like, as my wedding gift, the answer was easy, a “date just 41”.
We are with not means rich, but live a lifestyle, that allows us, to prioritise the things in life, that we wish to spent our money on.
Please do NOT, forget that the SA’s (sales associates) are humans too, it’s not their fault, that demand is so much higher, then what’s available. They do their job, with the tools and rules they are given.
It quickly became apparent, that buying a Rolex hadn’t become any easier in the last 5 years.
I do not wish to bash, neither the SA’s (sales associates), nor the stores we approached, over the last 9 months in different cities and countries, but as a fellow Rolex fan, you know what I mean if you know it, NOT easy at all and at times upsetting.
One day, I was in ILLUM department store and unexpectedly, decided to pop in to Bucherer, to admire the Rolex watches, I was approached by a young man, I thanked him for offering his help and said I was just looking.
Then I said to him, that I was looking for a steel Rolex, but I knew all too well what the situation is like.
He blew me away when he asked what model I might be interested in, which I could easily tell him, as my heart was sat on just one model.
He asked me to sit down and offered me to creat a “wish list”, something nobody had offered me before.
It was made very clear, that it was not equaling, that a watch would ever be offered, for me to buy, which I totally understood and accept! But just the fact, that he listened to me, was so much more then I had expected.
My paths crossed several times, with “my” SA and he took time, to get to know me, hear my story, my reason my passion and he shared his knowledge and perspectives with me, which was awesome!
Long story short, a short time later, the phone rang, my watch had arrived!
I was literally in tears, never in a million years, had I thought I would get offered, to buy a watch and that even in time for our wedding.
I’m now dying, to start wearing, it from the day of my wedding and onwards, for now only trying it on at home but already in love, with it’s simply beauty and it’s craftsmanship.
All this to say. Miracles do happen, there are SA’s out there, you will connect with, who’s willing to listen, get to know you and who might have trust in you, to be the right person to own, one of their increasingly hard to buy time pieces, I know because it happened to me and I’m so grateful!
