If I could give zero stars I…
If I could give zero stars I would...From start to finish, although it's still ongoing, it has been a farce. I called Blackwater Motors on Forge Hill on Thursday 11th of June to see if I could get my VW Golf towed to them as my own mechanic was on holidays. They said no problem so I sent my car off to them in good faith. When I called later on that day to see what was going on with it I was told it was in a queue and would hopefully be looked at within 3 to 5 days. If this had been explained to me on the initial call I would have sent it elsewhere. After maybe a week I was told it needed a wiring harness repair but also they wanted to do a little more diagnostic work to check the high pressure pump. I told them to go ahead with the repair and diagnostics at a cost of €497. I made numerous calls in the week or so after this to see if they had looked at it again but kept being told they had to wait for the master technician to give a definite diagnosis. A technician called to say they found metal filings in the fuel pump to it would at the very least need 4 new injectors, at a cost of €2000 but they needed to do some more checks and would be back to me the following day. Another few days of no contact and then the repair appeared on the portal- Replace high pressure pump, 4 injectors. Fuel lines, seals, low pressure pump , washing clean the tank- at a cost of 6700.89. Three days passed and again no call but that quote miraculously changed to €8700.89- no extra work included. Finally got a call on Monday 29th of June to say it was an economic write off. Funnily enough I then started receiving unprompted calls from them looking for money, which I duly paid the following day(€490)
Fast-forward to yesterday when I called to see if the car was still safe to drive as I was going to bring it to another mechanic. They said it was, so I went to Forge Hill to collect my car but they then said it wouldn't start. The very nice girl at the service desk said she had moved it herself that morning but she'd try to get a jump start for it. After waiting around for an hour I was then told that there was no way it was going to start despite apparently driving okay that morning??
I am looking at buying a new car with another garage so they said they would send a mechanic up to have a look at it. He turned up there today to be told the car was gone. I called Blackwater to see what was going on but they couldn't get through to the service dept. When Alan, a mechanic there, called back half an hour later he said the car had never been moved. He tried to imply that nobody had called to have a look at it and told me that it had never started, contrary to what was said to me yesterday...Unfortunately it's still ongoing...
