Blacks - Newport Recensioni 

I found out that the products sold online are more expensive than in the shop. I went to my local Blacks shop to buy some Scarpa boots. The boots they had were faulty and the staff proposed to order them online for me to be delivered at my home. They turned out to be £40 more online. If the shop ordered them online for me, I would have to go back to the shop and claim the £40 back. As I live 10 miles from the shop, that would mean a 20 mile return trip for me, which is very inconvenient. I find it very strange that I cannot get the same deal on the Blacks website as I can get in the shop. Ended up not buying anything.
Tried to get in touch, telephone system is endless so gave up on that, and sent them an email. Have not had any response back. Disappointing!
Have emailed Blacks after they responded to my review here, but have not heard anything from them. Very sad, because I do want to support my local shop but there is a discrepancy between the prices in my local Blacks and Blacks online. So, before you order anything online, check if your local Blacks shop has a better offer.

A happy cheerful welcome with the offer of assistance. I was shopping for a burghaus fleece and possibly a jacked, I was offered assistance in trying on options and gently steered towards a jacket and zip in fleece that suited my needs perfectly (and saved me a few pounds), purchase made and I'm a happy customer.

Ollie was extra helpful the other day. I came in do grab a waterproof bag for a kayaking trip I’m planning next year, super helpful and I ended up walking away with multiple items I never knew I needed, well done to all the team

Waisted my time.

I ordered an item in store as it wasn't in the shop. The order made I was told it would be delivered to home address in a fews days. I returned home half an hour later to find an email to say it was out of stock and the order is cancelled. 40 years ago computer systems could check stock status prior to accepting an order and taking payment, but not Blacks. I was told by a very kurt shop assistant that I had to return to the store for a refund and only had 28 days to so. I think you'll find consumer law says otherwise. I needed to waste another half a day getting an instore refund because of their failure. Not impressed. Blacks, you just lost a customer.

Fay is always very helpful and very smiley when I visit Blacks.
Nothing is too much trouble !
Also good to know Blacks are now posting items direct to home rather than having to collect in store 👍

I was climbing Kilimanjaro and went into the store with a huge kit list. Michelle spent 20 minutes with me working through the list, making sure I didn't miss anything. She went above and beyond. Great customer service.

My husband bought a pair of shoes today, he has a weak leg & walks with a crutch, so not the easiest of customers, the young lady (Olivia) served us & was so polite & nothing was too much trouble, will definitely purchase from there again

Fay was very helpful, she looked in the store room for what I wanted and found one.
She gave me further discount as I am a member of camping and caravan club.

The team were great. Friendly and knowledgeable. I visited the shop to buy a pair of boots and was served by Lou. She knows her stuff and was able to guide me to exactly what I needed, Top credits for efficiency and humor too!

Lou was very helpful and kind. A welcome change to my traditional retail experience.

Looking for a pair of hiking shoes and some lightweight trousers and that's what I came outy with. Thanks to Ollie and Matt for their attentions, just balanced right between leaving me to browse and selecting items to try/ offering advice.

Staff in the Newport Isle of Wight store were as normal very helpful and although the walking boots weren’t in store they ordered them in for me .
Nothing is to much trouble unlike other shops,Blacks makes the customer feel valued.

Thanks to Liv and Fay who helped by advising on fit and bringing lots of walking boots from the stock room! Happy with my Scarpa boots.
