DO NOT USE BIDVEST BANK YOUR MONEY IS NOT SECURE THERE
THE WORST BANK EVER NO SECURITY ON THEIR ACCOUNTS
Obviously my card was compromised an amount of R69.55 was being taken off my account for Facebook which I do not subscribe to. I immediately went in into my app and saw 7 of these had gone through already . I stopped the card and I had to go into the branch. I went in an had to go to police to do an affidavit. On going in I saw that these had started from 03am the night before and then from 11.15 the next day. They had charged for SMS but there were none on my phone the first sms was the one at 11.15. It was about R623 that was taken out which I believe the could have immediately reversed. But no they said I had subscribed could not provide me who the people were on line and I have no knowledge of that at all. They refused to refund because they say I did not report it straight away and if I am not happy I must go to the ombudsman. THey also had a glitch in their system where I tried to do an immediate payment of R2000 which did not go through and reflect but was taken off my account when I called the said sorry we have a problem it will go back into the account but it takes 24 to 48 hours and they are so sorrry......
DO NOT USE THIS BANK THEY ARE NO SAFE. i wont be using this bank any more just for a few things that go through but am transferring the rest to another bank that is safe JUST A WARNING TO ALL .
WHEN 7 TRANSACTIONS ARE GOING THROUGH WITH THE SAME AMOUNT ALMOST WITHIN THE SAME TIME OTHER BANKS WILL PICK IT UP TO SEE HOWCOME IT IS NOT A USUAL TRANSACTION EVEN THOUGH ITS SMALL AMOUNTS THEY SEND YOU TO THE OMBUDSMAN SAYING IF YOU NOT HAPPY STILL WAITING TO HEAR WHAT THE OUTCOME WILL BE

Bidvest is the bank of scammers. Stay away!

Avoid at All Costs!

We were victims of a fraud involving a fake supplier, Hidrotech Industrial Supplies, who used a Bidvest Bank account to receive a fraudulent payment.

👉 Background:
We were contacted by email under the name of Barrick Zambia for a request to supply industrial pumps. After conducting our usual verification process, we identified a South African supplier, Hidrotech Industrial Supplies, whose account was held at Bidvest Bank (Account No. 33322666301, Branch Code 462005).

👉 The Payment:
We made a SWIFT transfer on 11/02/2025 from our account at Rawbank for an amount of ZAR 260,136.90. The payment was confirmed by SWIFT on the same day at 19:00.

👉 Fraud Discovered:
After the payment, Hidrotech Industrial Supplies ceased all communication. Further investigations revealed that this company had been involved in similar frauds since 2020. This information was easily accessible online, proving that this company had already scammed several other businesses through fake tenders and identity theft.

⚠️ Bidvest Bank’s Inaction:
Despite a prompt report to Bidvest Bank to block the funds and investigate, no immediate action was taken. We also discovered that Bidvest Bank had already been informed of similar frauds for over 2 years, but had failed to implement any effective measures to stop these scammers.

👉 Account Still Active!
To our surprise, even after our report, the fraudulent account remained active, likely allowing other victims to fall prey to the same scam.

💡 Warning to Other Businesses:
If you are considering dealing with suppliers using Bidvest Bank accounts, be extremely cautious. Verify the bank details thoroughly and demand strong guarantees before proceeding with any payment.

Bidvest Bank must be held accountable for its lack of vigilance and repeated failure to prevent these scams.

Appaling customer service!!!

I've been sent funds from France (Invoice payment) They rejected my mandate (Sent in January), without any explanation. Even though I signed a mandate with them in August 2024. It should still be valid into 2025.
Worst of all there has been no communication as to why. You cannot call their customer services line to get further clarification or assistance. It just re-directs you to send an email and no reply. They are fine to take money to exchange funds but will not release the money that I worked hard for. And they have not replied to any of my emails either.
This is a shocking and disappointing level of service.
And all before the start of the school year!

I will let the French school know how appaling the Bidvest service has been for SA teachers receiving money from abroad!

Unnecessary Interference and Poor Service from Bidvest Bank

I am not a Bidvest Bank client and have no desire to be one. Yet, they continue to interfere with my Airbnb payments, causing unnecessary delays and frustrations. My bank is fully capable of handling these transactions, but Bidvest Bank insists on meddling, disrupting my business operations.

Out of desperation to receive my funds, I reluctantly signed their mandate. However, their system flagged it as "unauthorized mandate," creating further delays. On top of this, their customer support is abysmal. Responses are slow, and the team seems incapable of resolving issues or even clearly explaining their role in the process.

This level of inefficiency and lack of professionalism is unacceptable. I urge Bidvest Bank to stop interfering in transactions that have nothing to do with them. If this continues, I will be forced to take further action. Very dissatisfied and disappointed.

Missing money from Bidvest

Brought money into the country where the transaction is facilitated by Bidvest (not my choice), which is then in theory supposed to reflect in your own bank account. It's been 7 days since the money arrived in SA and Bidvest has no clue where it is!

Extremely appalling customer service

On 27th Dec 23 early morning, I initiated international swift transfer to SA.
An email was send to me on 28 Dec 23 informing me that my transfer was on hold as I am required to complete new mandate form for 2024, yet still in 2023 bank working hours. The email stated that I will receive an email from mandateatbidvestdotcodotza with mandate forms and/or link. No details about the transaction. I did not expect this. As soon as I saw email I tried emailing the email provided. It did not work. I eventual went online and messaged ccc.bidvest I was past from one department to the other including AZA FINAMCE TEAM. At one point I was given reassurance that my query will be dealt with with 8 hours. This was amongst the automated generic email replied I was receiving. Up to this day I did not receive email from mandateatbidvestdotcodotza with mandate forms or link. I asked relative to call bidvest customer service after the number given was not connecting internationally. The email link too converted to someoneatexampledotcom when I clicked on it within the initial email i was supplied with. Cudtomer sevice past my relative from department to department. They still asked me to email mandateatbidvestdotcodotza to request mandate forms none of them knew how to email them to me amd cannot keep to their promise. The transfer is for basic living. I had been loaning money to get by which will incur interest charges. My debit orders will be bouncing back subsequently will be charged for missed payments by bank and creditors. All my emails since 30Dec 23 not answered. Only after midnight I received an email asking me for transaction details. Such demeaning request. How am I supposed to have those details yet bidvest did not provide me with? What a joke amd inconsiderate service.
Points to note: I allowed three working days for transfer in 2023 which means the 2023 mandate was still valid. How come am I asked to complete the 2024 mandate yet still in 2023? My mandate was signed in March 2023 therefore still valid until March 2024.
Who am I expected to complete the 2024 mandate when is not emailed to me as promised or sent link? I searched the net for these forms I found nothing.

I used bidvest for foreign currency…

I used bidvest for foreign currency payment. When you apply they will give you a quotation including the costs. However every time they do the transaction funds are left in your trading account. Either by the fluctuation of exchange rates or whatever. When I decided to end my business and no longer required their service, there was an amount of R220.00 in my account at bidvest. I requested the bank to transfer this amount to my savings account at another bank and close my account as I will no longer require it, bidvest charged me R165,00 transfer fee. This is totally ridiculous and disgusting for a domestic bank transfer.

Terrible service and worst insurance my…

Terrible service and worst insurance my family has ever had to deal with. My father was in an accident for which he was fully insured and Bidvest did anything and everything they could not to pay. Wouldn't recommend them to anyone who wants to get payed out. Also super unfriendly staff.

Service From Bidvest Bank South Africa.

I have a long-standing account with Bidvest Bank in Johannesburg, South Africa. Having to travel overseas, I applied for their World Currency Card. I have had to have several top-ups and found their process to be seamless and efficient. As I was in Europe, the most affordable communication was by e-mail.
Their response times to my emails were all but immediate. The call center staff are well-trained, courteous, and efficient. In my years of banking, I have never had an issue with Bidvest, but I must confess to being concerned about the service levels when they went digital. I could have saved myself the anxiety as their service has turned out to be five-star.
Kudos to you all at Bidvest, and my heartfelt thanks.
