Members are bullied and harassed at Kentish Town Sports Centre
I joined Kentish Town Sports Centre just in August 2026 and am a fee-paying member. Within 2 weeks I got to experience the bullying culture at the centre. I was bullied, harassed, discriminated against, and humiliated by a lifeguard, Carlie (not sure of the spelling) in Grafton Pool during the Ladies swim time on 20 Aug when I was quietly swimming in my lane. Her attitude was so arrogant, her language belittling and foul, and her conduct unprofessional and rude, it left me in tears, and I left in just 30 mins before telling her I would make a written complaint for that bullying behaviour. However, when I complained verbally to the duty manager, I got another shock when he said she was "professional". Telling off members, shouting and talking in a rough rude manner and being discriminatory in conduct would be gross misconduct in other companies, but Better manager tells me she was 'professional'; I wonder what grade must be 'unprofessional' for them... I just want a refund and never want to go back where I am treated like a second-class citizen. I do not recommend this centre or Better to anyone. Be careful, guys!

Wonderful experience at Kentish Town sport
My experience with the centre was wonderful, came in for a single time swim and the staff on reception was so polite and professional, explained to me all about the pool, and helped me to book it for it, as well they let me aware that the temperature of the pool was not as usual, but still the water was refreshing and I had a nice experience while swimming.
Changing areas were clean and I saw staff coming in and out to tidy them up during my time there.
I would totally come back for another session

Rude teachers
Unfortunately Better consistently employs rude and apathetic swimming teachers who are not good at their job and whom delight in displaying an attitude, talking down and even insult and physically push around both the children and the adults they don't like.
Curt in manners, nothing learned over years of attendance, and constant rudeness shouldn't be the price to pay for supporting a charitable enterprise like Better love to reminds us that's what they are.
Do Better.
Common courtesy to the parents and care for the kids in their charge isn't too much to ask.

The main thing is my daughter really…
The main thing is my daughter really enjoys her lessons with Vincent as first she disliked having group lessons with every single time new teacher. Because of that we had to stop it. But now she has an amazing reacher who put himself so much in the process of teaching. He is very sensitive, professional and mentioned that my daughter is very skilled. She knows a lot already and likes her swimming so much. I’m happy as well. Thank you so much.

New Music App letting everyone down
I think your new music app is pretty awful. It sounds like very mediocre singers crucifying previously wonderful and memorable classic songs. The tracks are remixed and almost unrecognisable. You are doing a disservice to the original artists and composers of these songs. We used to sing along in our Aqua Aerobics but now we can't relate to these speeded up cover versions. I'd like some waterproof earplugs please.

We’re aware that there has been some concern and confusion about the changes to music licensing in our fitness classes from this Spring
In late 2025 we became aware that the cost of our current music license that covers all our 250 leisure centres and gyms across the UK would increase significantly. As a charitable social enterprise focused on community benefit, we carefully reviewed our options to ensure we continue to invest our resources responsibly and sustainably.
Following this review, we asked our fitness instructors to transition to PPL pre-cleared, royalty-free music. This approach allows us to manage rising costs while continuing to deliver the high-quality classes you expect.
In practical terms, all instructors are being provided with free access to Power Music; one of the most widely used fitness music platforms. Power Music enables instructors to create their own playlists using professionally recorded studio tracks (not AI-generated), giving them flexibility while ensuring full compliance with licensing requirements.
We hope this provides reassurance and clarity about why we have made this decision, the care we have taken to engage with and support our instructors and our commitment to maintaining your class experience. As we implement these changes we will continue to monitor feedback and engage with staff and customers.

It is amazing but the only thing is it needs another or more stairs-master machine as people use it the most and there is only two and people wait ages to use it.

Good facilities, nice staff but short swim lessons
Our daughter and son are doing swimming lessons at Kentish Town Sports Center. The facilities are good, nice and welcoming staff, very pleased with that.
One negative aspect is that the lesson is too short for the number of kids in the water. Considering the whole process, Kids get a short workout and progresses are really slow.
I suggest the class should be at least 45mins long to have more benefits.

We are so pleased to hear that your children are enjoying the classes at Kentish Town Sports Centre!
We have found that children get the most out of a 30 minute class and they can start to lose focus if classes are much longer. When students do move up to Academy, these classes are 45 minute long, so when your children have advanced, they will be able to attend longer lessons.

Unprofessional Service and No Communication
I took my daughter to her swimming lesson in Kentish Town yesterday at 3pm, only to be told at the door that the class had been cancelled. We received no message, no email, no update — nothing. They simply waited for us to arrive to let us know. My daughter was excited all day for her lesson and left completely disappointed.
They told me I would receive an email the same day regarding a refund, but nothing has arrived. Very poor communication and highly unprofessional service. I expected much better.

We understand how disappointing this must have been for both of you, and this is not the level of service we aim to provide.

Regarding your refund, the swim school will be in contact with you to offer a replacement lesson or a refund for that cancelled lesson.
