Instructors are very good but…
Re: Kensington Leisure Centre- Instructors are very good but management sometimes lets down its customers. Cancelled classes, members show up, management fails to tell us instructor was not there when we first arrive at welcome desk, so we all wait, set up with our equipment, in the studio or gym. GLL don’t consistently email or text us before our departure to the gym (even when they had prior notice that instructor was ill or away or the replacement cover could not come).
Management I feel, does not fully value its members’ time or commitment to attending classes, it takes some of us considerable effort to be motivated to show up, only to be then disappointed. And GLL refuse to refund us, though penalise members if they miss a class.
Shame bc the facilities are good, staff and instructors are motivating and it’s a fun experience generally. Overall it is a good gym.
Management- please do better for your members and respond to cancelled classes on a more timely basis. Thank you for listening.

The sports centre is a fantastic…
The sports centre is a fantastic community hub that continues to impress. It’s clean, well maintained, and now features a newly refurbished gym equipped with state of the art machines. I’ve been coming here since I was a child, and I can confidently say it’s the best it’s ever been. The classes are excellent, and the instructors are both knowledgeable and motivating. Highly recommended!

Public safety disregard
Entry gate to the pool and gym was constantly kept open even after complaining. Dodgy and dangerous characters allowed to enter and leave freely making it dangerous for customers and especially children.

Fantastic staff and great swimming…
Fantastic staff and great swimming pool. Had my first visit this evening after work. Forgot to bring my towel! Isaac on the front desk couldn’t have been more helpful and got me a towel from the spa. Felt very welcomed and had a great swim. Thank you - especially to Isaac!

Actually a Fun gym to attend
Actually a Fun gym to attend, I do not remember the last time I went to a gym. This was suggested by my GP/cardiologist, and am I glad I enrolled.
I have been going 3 weeks and already feel better in myself, friendly profession al staff

The gym is improving but studio needs equipment
The gym is improving- the updated spin room is very nice, as is the newer equipment in the gym. The staff and instructors are terrific as always, they know all the regulars by name, and encourage us to push ourselves and improve our skills. They are the best part of KLC.
The same problem however continues in the studio- the Reebok steps are not safe- about 1/3 steps don’t clip in anymore. There are not enough weights in the studio. We’ve been told new equipment has been ordered, but it just does not arrive. In this heat, letting the air conditioning drop a couple more degrees would be very appreciated. One positive- the new blue mats are very comfy, thanks for this.

Horrible to women and new parents. Don’t bother
I signed up for a class with a newborn baby. I got my cousin to meet me at the gym to look after him. It took an incredible amount of effort. I was 2 minutes late to the Pilates class at better Notting Hill and they wouldn’t let me in. They are the worst and they aren’t getting a penny more of my money. How they can treat women, parents or anyone like this at a community gym it totally beyond the pale. I wrote to them directly, obviously they didn’t particularly care. Do not recommend.

We understand that attending a class with a newborn takes significant planning and effort, and being turned away, especially for being just a couple of minutes late, must have been incredibly frustrating.
While we do have class start-time policies in place to ensure safety and maintain a consistent experience for all participants, we recognise that in situations like yours, a little more flexibility and compassion could have made a big difference.

The best gym I've ever been a member of
I love my local Better gym (previously known as Kensington Leisure centre). New gym equipment just fitted - top of the range. The management are all fabulous, really friendly and engaging. All the staff are lovely and make this a wonderful experience. The instructors for classes are so encouraging of your goals, Lauren, Miguel, Jeff, Debbie, Pia and Sally are my favourites but they also have a great cover for spin - Ian who needs a regular weekly class PLEASE! Have made so many local friends here because the atmosphere created by everyone makes it the best place to work out!

The manager who was on duty this…
The manager who was on duty this afternoon was arrogant and far too big for his boots!
After being refused entry to Aqua motion class because their rubbish website did not allow me to book-the manager told me that he would let me use the toilet - ‘out of the kindness of his heart’!
I was too disgusted to even ask his name.
When later I asked one of the girls on the desk; if he is always so rude and bossy; she said “ Managers are!”
So there you are😟☹️

The changes in the leisure centre are night and day. It’s clear the new team has worked hard to make this a welcoming place. I especially appreciate how clean the centre and showers are. Staff are friendly too, Always happy to chat or help out. A nice cafe too

Impressive Soft play!
I took my 16 month old grandson to the Soft play area. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was fully equipped with activities which catered for babies of his age unlike other soft plays in the West London area.
The babies area was also ring fenced off to ensure that older children were not tempted to over occupy it.
Staff were extremely accommodating and visible.
The onsite cafe had plenty of variety for all ages, so all our needs were met all under one roof.
We had a fantastic day and will be going back!

Back to the gym.
I went back to the gym after many months and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The building looked to be in better shape then I remember. Cleaner, brighter ( I think some areas have been redecorate ) and new signage on the outside. The staff were helpful and the class was great. I highly reccomend.
