Great facility
Great facility , unfortunately the changing rooms and facilities are regularly dirty and grimy . There are often overflowing bins and flies . Shame as otherwise it's great

I'm going ONLY because there's no other options in my neighbourhood.
Not clean, sometimes actually it's really dirty specially in the lockers room. Service is way below the average, no wifi (even if they claim to connect to THE CLOU which is not working efficiently even just for basic whatzapp messages - so you're basically with no phone in there)
Also closes way to early like 9pm..

When you have the right membership...
Using BETTER centres are easy to book and use. I will be increasing how many times I go to my local leisure and using other Better leisure centres to help meet my personal health targets. I like to swim at my own pace and use the gym occasionally which is something I never thought I will ever say!
To perform even better, memberships for registered disabled users should be more competitively priced to use all facilities and much easier to register. It would also be useful to see typically when facilities like the gym or the pool tend to be quieter so I can book accordingly. How many tickets are remaining does not give the full pucture of what to expect.

Better is my leisure centre of choice because the staff are so helpful and the swimming pool is excellent in size for swimming for health.

This gym has different facilities and…
This gym has different facilities and it’s good - however, the place is dirty (especially the swimming pool and changing room area). I felt extremely uncomfortable on my first day of swimming lesson and I’m even hesitant to book the next one cause the place was just NOT clean! Plasters, tissues, papers on the floor near the pool… it was just ew! Lastly, re the gym itself, it is important to note that some of the equipment are broken and therefore cannot be used! I believe that I’m paying a good amount money, every month, to deserve a good service, I would therefore be grateful if something about this could be done as soon as possible please 🙏

Excellent experience
I go to the Glassmill Centre at Lewisham and the personal trainer/ Better facilitator I saw was Alex.
It is an excellent experience and Alex is extremely Helpful / Knowledgeable and Supportive.
As someone in their late sixties it was a fairly intimidating experience entering the gym environment, but Alex and the atmosphere in the Gym, made it very comfortable.
I really enjoy attending, and my health is benefiting.
Big Thank You to Alex, absolute asset to this team.

Better gyms - not better for your health but better for Better's bank account.
I am a man with a prostate cancer diagnosis and sought exercise whilst going through hormone treatment, post radiotherapy, this is a recognised benefiting course of action when having treatment. In the time I have attended the Glass Mills site several bits of equipment have been faulty or parts missing, either myself or I have witnessed others using different cycle machines not work, when others were using them too. Gears slip or once a pedal fell off a machine. The gears on several machines I reported to staff, repeatedly over previous months, with no action. One machine was put in a cupboard but the other remained out, without any 'out of order sign - or being fixed. I myself injured my knee soon after using one of these machines on this visit and after a subsequent episode of pain a few days later at home, I ended in tremendous pain, not being able to walk and then over the next several weeks with 4 phone calls and a visit to my doctors, also doing a self referral to the doctors physiotherapist. I was aldo asked to have a x-ray and MRI by my surgery, which showed up ligament injury and meniscus damage. It was only at the beginning of November that I got to see a consultant to discuss the findings of the MRI, who recommend arthroscopy surgery, which I now am having soon. This week I asked Better for a suspension of my charges or a refund in part for the several months I was unable to attend the gym in the past few months. This I was told could not be done in retrospect, despite I only recently got fully to understand and know what I was dealing with. I am most disappointed with Better, Faulty and dangerous equipment and no support or responsibility by their customer services for anyone who might have had injuries, which I feel in part, might have been due to attending their gyms. Very disappointing.

We’re really sorry to hear about the challenges you’ve faced, especially given your health situation. Your feedback is very important, and we regret that the equipment problems and delays in fixing them have affected your wellbeing.
We take safety and maintenance seriously, and it’s clear we didn’t meet expectations here. I’ve passed your concerns on to our management team for urgent review, including the faulty equipment reports and your request for a membership suspension or refund. Although our policy usually doesn’t allow retrospective changes, we’ll reconsider your case because of its seriousness.
If you can provide a medical note, we can explore freezing your membership.
