Mercedes E class Service and MOT

Professional, efficient and friendly.

Second visit after Autotecnic had replaced a sensor a few months ago.

Prompt booking with costs upfront. Worksop clean and modern. All staff polite and friendly. Courtesy car at minimal cost. Phone call to explain cracked wheel (Sheffield potholes!) but solution provided and retest MOT within 24hours.

Competitive pricing and first rate service.

I visited for a comprehensive service…

I visited for a comprehensive service and to address a problem with my front wheel after an accident. Bob and Ross did an amazing job keeping me informed about my car's status and swiftly pinpointed the wheel issue. The workshop was impressively neat and inviting, making me feel like the top priority. The entire team is warm and approachable. They even offer reasonably priced courtesy cars for those in need of transportation. From beginning to end, the service was outstanding. This reliable garage has earned my loyalty for all future car maintenance.

A very impressive experience

This is the first time I've used Autotecnic, and I must say that I've been extremely impressed from start to finish.

First impressions are important, and on entering rhe building for the first time I was struck by how clean and tidy the workshop was, and how friendly the staff were.
Ross greeted me warmly in the office and took the time and trouble to discuss a cambelt replacement for my Mk 7 Golf, along with patiently answering various queries I had. There was no unnecessary jargon or pressure selling tactics, just clear, unbiased information delivered in a friendly, professional, unhurried way.

The car was subsequently booked in and the work carried out over 2 days last week.
During that time communication was excellent.

On picking the car up I was given the opportunity to examine the old cambelt and ancillary parts with Ross, and to discuss their condition.
The total cost was competative, very fair for the work involved, and slightly less then the estimate I had received on my first visit.
A nice final touch was being accompanied to the car park by Ross, so that he could give the car a final check over to make sure it was ready to drive.

All in all, a great experience. I shall certainly return to Autocentric for any future work, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

We have been having our cars serviced here for over 15 years. Bob, Ross and the team are friendly, trustworthy, helpful and professional. They offer honest,expert advice and go above and beyond in terms of customer service. It means a lot to have someone who gets to know you and your car and understand your requirements and expectations and always meet them.

Service and repair

Came in for a full service while also having an issue with the front wheel following a crash. Bob and Ross were excellent in keeping me up to date with what was happening with my car and were quick to identify the issue on my wheel. Very clean and tidy workshop which was very welcoming and was made to feel the most important person there. The whole team are very friendly. They also have courtesy cars available for a very reasonable rate if your can't get around without one! Overall from start to finnish they did a fantastic job. A trustworthy garage that I will now continue to use for all my car maintenance.

Unrivalled customer service, expertise and passion

I've been using Autotecnic for a couple of years now - the customer service, expertise and passion for doing the best for the car is unrivalled. Main dealers don't come close! Bob and the team recently worked on a tricky diagnostic issue on my Golf GTI - the passion and expertise to get to the bottom of the issue was incredible, all while keeping me informed with regular and detailed updates. I'm always confident my car is in safe hands, be it a routine service (only genuine parts used....they also show you the old parts on collection!) or dealing with a technical issue. As a returning customer

As a returning customer. I always find Bob and the team at Autotecnic friendly, honest and knowledgeable. The three main reasons why I am a returning customer. The workshop is spotless and that alone tells me a lot about the high standards that they uphold.

There is always a feeling of trepidation when you walk in to any garage, a feeling that repair bills might escalate once a fault is diagnosed and there are businesses out there that will take the opportunity to do just that unnecessarily! I have NEVER EVER found that with Autotecnic. Communication is excellent, everything is transparent and any necessary work is only carried out once you are happy to proceed. You even get presented with the old replaced parts to demonstrate the failure!!!

If you want a mediocre service then give Autotecnic a miss. However, If you want a great, efficient and an honest quality service, then give them a call.

Expert service

A great experience dealing with experts in what they do. The price I paid was similar to a dealer quote I had been given but after conversations with Bob I had faith that they would do the job to a far higher standard and they did. If you want it doing right look no further.

I Had a major service (oil, air, pollen and fuel filter) inc a proper haldex service (pump removed, cleaned out, seals and oil replaced) not just a quick oil change which I know is what the main dealer would do. Other “to watch” items were identified and no unnecessary work was suggested on top.

If you just want a bog standard oil and filter change then you could get that cheaper elsewhere. If you want people to service your car as they would service their own with high quality parts then these would be my choice.

I wasn't impressed with Autotecnic…

I wasn't that impressed with Autotecnic in Sheffield
Very expensive for a specialist £472 for an oil and filter change on my E Class, daylight robbery!
Actually more expensive than the Porsche specialist i use for my 911 for an oil service.
They also don't give you a price until the work was completed. Won't be using them again.

Dear Mr Turner,

We apologise in advance to hear you are not totally happy with the service we provided on your last visit.

However, let me clarify the situation if I may.

You booked your Mercedes in for an A3 Service, (not just an A service) items number 1.3,8 & 11 were notified from your Assyst information from your car that needed attention.

Autotecnic Ltd will always service any vehicle presented to manufacturers specification, we have done this for the last 19+years.

The Technician carried out the checks on the car in accordance with the Mercedes Benz service schedule reporting other items that may need attention in the future (we had not by this time carried out any service work, just the check over & clarified the service items by checking the Mercedes service Assyst schedule on line).

You were waiting for your car service in our waiting area upstairs. I personally came to see you and presented the information from the Technician which your car required by explaining this service is an A3 service, the items the car had identified was items 1,3,8 & 11. These numbers equated to oil, air, fuel filters, we always use a Liqui Moly oil treatment (oil cleaner) prior to draining the oil prior to replacing with the Fuchs correct oil and of course the plastic sump plug.

This was clearly explained to you whilst you waited in our upstairs waiting room. A cost of just under £500.00 was presented to you. I then asked if we could proceed and your reply was “yes”. I further explained how long the car would be as the work is over 2 hours to complete, you wished to continue to wait and conduct your business in our waiting area.

I continued to explain, from the Technicians write up on the job card, which he had completed from his initial inspection that you have a crack in the N/S/F wheel, that your O/S/R tyre had a puncture repair recently, the O/S/R tyre was low on tread (apx.3-4mm) and was close to the cords on the inner edge. Furthermore, that you had cracks in the rear propshaft rubber and your front brake pads linings were on apx. 4mm needing attention in the near future (brake discs had lips on the edges but would need to be reviewed prior to the new pads being fitted).

I informed you that the Technician will review these reported items with you on completion of the service repair prior to removing the car off the lift. This way you can see the other items reported.

During our conversation, you made no comment regarding costs, I left you and we proceeded to complete the work.

You were shown the other items reported on completion of the service by the Technician. Clearly identified the items removed from your car, (oil, air & fuel filter).
On paying your invoice I asked if everything was ok with the service, your reply was “Yes”, you requested costs for the propshaft rubber and brake pads which I did.

I explained your invoice on reception and gave you the Assyst Mercedes Benz service record we had carried out in your Autotecnic Ltd service pack.

You left the reception via the workshop, said thank you to the Technician who carried out your service and left.

I can copy your invoice so you can again identity costings, parts fitted and our labour rate for your service is clearly visible (as presented to you initially).

We pride ourselves on positive communication, ensuing customer are presented with costs prior & during any additional works.

We are a family business and understand costings, budgets and are not afraid to discuss any cost issues without any embarrassment on both parties.

The customer is King in our eyes, our lifes blood, however IF by any chance I have miscommunicated whilst explaining your cars service requirements I apologise in this instance.

Returning customer

Returning customer here. The guys at Autotecnic are by far the best and most reliable guys in all of Yorkshire. They are the only guys I trust with my car, they are very fairly priced, completely up front with anything they find and will always ask me before going ahead with the job. I’ve had my Mercedes in a couple times now over the years, for brakes, and a full service MOT, and will be back here every year. Can’t recommend them enough.

If you want to have your eyes robbed…

If you want to have your eyes robbed out, then this is the place for you. £80 an hour rates, won’t quote anything upfront for work to be completed . Usual issue when it’s something unusual where you have no choice but to accept the hideous quote to get the car back up and running again. Very let down by what I though was a reputable company. Go somewhere else before you try these crooks. Only shining light was Ross

Dear Mr Marley, I cannot find an invoice with your name or vehicle on file. I have searched from the 26 Sept 2022 to 16 Oct 2022 (when you placed your review). I presume this was just a visit to Autotecnic Ltd for an enquiry. You have to carry out an investigation (Diagnostics) to find the problem before you can produce a quotation to repair, this appears what may have happened in this case. The cost for that procedure is £80.00. We use the most up to date Dealer equipment to get the most accurate diagnosis and promote a "First Time Fix" as misdiagnosis is very costly for the customer. The Technicians are Dealer trained. Our expertise matches that of the Dealer, yet we still manage to stay competitive with our pricing. I trust this explains your misunderstanding from your review.
