They were nothing but lovely and helpful when I made my claim. No issues whatsoever and affordable. The only fault I have is communication can be difficult but otherwise fantastic.

Highly advise against choosing AMP or Vero (which they’re subcontracted under) as your insurer, the contact centre isn't even located in NZ, so good luck speaking to a kiwi who actually cares. Cancelled my policy straight after hearing the terrible communication from their representatives. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

One of the worst insurance
One of the worst insurance, I wish there was a star below one, they given my car to someone while it was sent for repairs at their yard and after a month of following up they asked me to report my car stolen, and now it’s been four months and counting and I still haven’t got my car back or got any answers from AMP or Vero insurance, I’m still paying for premium and car payments. Their customer service is terrible they have not given me a clear answer, I been having to make arrangements to get to work everyday they would not offer me a courtesy car either. They would not take ownership for their actions and resolve this. I would not recommend this insurance to anyone.
AMP burned me
I had an investment linked life insurance plan with them from 1989 to around 2010. These were boom years in the world's economy. After watching years of the mediocre returns get eaten away by AMP management fees, I eventually pulled the plug. In the end I withdrew an amount that was marginally less than the total dollars I had put in over all those years. In other words, less than zero percent on my savings. I don't know if they were greedy or incompetent, but it works out to be the same: I was burned.
Shocking Drivers
If AMP manage your money as poorly as they drive around Auckland in their sign written Corollas, you’re in BIG trouble. Absolutely shocking behaviour on the roads.
My car was stolen and they were useless
My car was stolen, after it was recovered it took over a month of daily phone calls, being on hold for long periods of time, dealing with useless customer service, just to get any idea on whether it's a write off or fixable. All of that for them to tell me the car is to be written off.
I have had other insurers get back to me with either a quote or write-off within a week of the car being recovered.
Absolutely useless insurer, they only get one star because they EVENTUALLY paid me out. Also, god have mercy on anyone who has to deal with Peter over the phone. You could tell he wasn't following up after, and probably wasn't even listening to what I was asking.
Summary:
- Very long wait times for claims to go through
- Near useless customer service
- Long hold times

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I called with a basic enquiry and the person I spoke to started shouting at me and had no manners at all. I had to call back because she disconnected the call. The next person wasn't much better. She put me hold until it was 5pm ( when they close) then disconnected the call. I had to call back the next day to tell them to stop
taking payments out of my bank account because I had moved to a different insurance company with better customer service.
They passed me to different people and were reluctant to help me. The worst customer service I have ever had. I would rate AMP minus 5 stars if I could for how they handled my enquiry.
I'm glad I didn't have to make a claim. It's meant to be a partnership of trust and there's no way I would trust them to help me.
Without customers they would have no business. They need to employ people who are actually wanting to help people and realise customer's pay their wages.

Multiple follow-ups are required to get things done for the claim. Currently resolving issues with them with 12-14 emails, 5-6 calls and week 11 going on without resolution.

Terrible insurer. Do not use!!!!! I missed one payment and they cancelled my policy. No phone call, email or anything. Bloody crap. A letter in the mail that takes 10 working days to arrive is not good enough... Staff don't have good English so it's very frustrating when you need to speak to them.

I’m a long term customer of AMP insurance and recently called to update my policy value as I spent $15000 on necessary repairs (a full engine rebuild), only to be told that I’ve modified the vehicle and my policy will be cancelled in two weeks time. It’s the exact same motor only rebuilt, nothing to change the power of the vehicle. I would not recommend using AMP insurance and I will not be using them in the future.

One of our vehicles was involved in a collision. The car was taken to the panel beaters and AMP took TWO MONTHS to approve the panel beater's quote. The quote was only approved when the panel beater threatened to charge storage costs. AMP told the panel beater that they had made errors in processing the quote however to make matters worse, three weeks after we made a complaint we have still not had a resolution from AMP. he seem unwilling to even pick up the phone and discuss the concern, just multiple attempts at contact on our part. My advice is to avoid this insurer at all costs.

Tried responding with three sperate emails to different email address - no response. Rang 0800 number, first time got cut off half way through conversation, second time they couldn't hear me and they last time they didn't answer the phone.

Terrible experience. Have to contact AMP 4 times just to get the contents insurance sorted. Stay away from this company for your own good.
Distressing experience
Have had my car been broken into twice in one year. Both instances were very similar despite some minor differences like location and time of incident.
First time 7months ago the service that was provided regarding my claim was awesome.
I didn't need to seek any clarity regarding my claim, the processes or my entitlements, genuine customer care. I was gratefully content with the whole process.
Disappointingly, second time around my experience was absolutely appalling to say the least.
No follow up processes at all, the communication was worse than an interaction with someone that speaks no English. My mechanic was more helpful than any customer service operator I dealt with over the whole duration.
I was advised to look for my own hire car options even though I had full comprehensive cover.
Lack of care in advising of what my entitlements are with this full cover. I'm left to question my policy myself after multiple failed attempts just to try and get through to an operator.
Asked to speak to someone higher, process delayed.
I'm in absolute disappointment and shock at the unacceptable service that was provided. I will not be recommending this provider to anyone, nor will I be continuing my policy.

I bought a pension plan from AMP 3 years ago - after three years it was worth less than what I put in. This is because the fees were considerable and negated any positive growth. To make matters worse they were hidden partly but reducing the cost of the unit price. Got out as soon as I could

A nightmare to deal with from start to finish. Emails not returned when i asked for dates my premiums would be due. Put my premiums up without any notification. When i cancelled my policy i was due a refund. After nearly 3 months i still haven't received it. I would avoid them at all costs.
