We had a wonderful experience using African Budget Safari. We felt well cared for from the initial contact through the end of our trip. Our travel agent, Claire was smart, articulate, and responsive. She understood what we wanted out of our vacation and worked with us to curate the perfect plan.

Our trip was carefully planned, every experience felt custom tailored to our liking. Claire really listened to us and understood what we wanted out of our South African adventure. Our vacation was the trip of a lifetime, filled with family memories never to be forgotten.

I highly recommend African Budget Safaris and I highly recommend travel to South Africa.

Our recent safari through Kenya and Tanzania was truly the trip of a lifetime. We visited Masai Mara National Reserve, Serengeti National Park, and Ngorongoro Crater, and everything was flawless from start to finish.
From the moment we were picked up at our hotel until we were dropped off at the end of the trip, every detail was handled perfectly. Border crossings between Kenya and Tanzania were smooth and well organized, the accommodations exceeded our expectations, and our guides made sure we had an unforgettable experience.
We chose the Lodge & Camping Combo option and highly recommend it. If you're hesitant about tented camps, don't be. These were nothing like traditional camping. Our first stay at Enkorok Mara Camp was more like glamping, with spacious tents, private bathrooms, and cool, comfortable evenings. Speke Bay Lodge on Lake Victoria was beautiful, with attentive staff and incredible lake views. Kati Kati Tented Camp in the Serengeti was the most rustic, but the bucket showers and remote location made it a memorable part of the adventure. Our favorite was Ngorongoro Farm House, located on a beautiful working coffee farm with spacious rooms, gorgeous gardens, and excellent food.
The food throughout the trip was consistently very good. Breakfast and dinner were served at the lodges, usually buffet or family style, with plenty of fresh options. Every morning we packed sack lunches to take on our game drives. While the lunches were simple, there's nothing quite like eating in the middle of the African wilderness.
The game drives exceeded every expectation. We were fortunate enough to see the Big Five along with countless other animals. Our guides stayed in constant communication about wildlife sightings, knew exactly where to go, patiently answered every question, and worked hard to give us incredible viewing opportunities. Because of Kenya and Tanzania regulations, we had one guide in Kenya (Maltin) and another in Tanzania (George). Both were knowledgeable, professional, spoke excellent English, and made us feel safe throughout the trip.
Masai Mara was our favorite park because we consistently got amazingly close to the wildlife, making for incredible viewing and photography. Ngorongoro Crater was our least favorite because many of the animals, especially the lions and rhinos, were viewed from a distance. We also visited the Olduvai Gorge Museum, but would have preferred spending that time back in Masai Mara.
One thing to be aware of is the roads. In many places they are extremely rough, but that's simply part of the safari experience and completely outside the tour company's control.
We booked through African Budget Safaris, and Daniel was always quick to respond to our questions. Our local tour operator, Asili Adventure Safaris, did an outstanding job from beginning to end.
If you're considering an African safari, I highly recommend this tour. Every transfer, lodge, guide, and game drive exceeded our expectations. It was an unforgettable adventure, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Everything was perfect. From the tailoring of a specific trip, the transport, the lodges, the special diet food that was prepared for me, and, of course, the tours and the guides. It was fantastic and I am still living the dream.
All the staff tried their best so I could be happy and enjoy the tour, including the little thind, e.g., a hotty in bed and for the morning tours. The walking tours were the highlight.

When I contacted African Budget Safaris, I didn’t know what to expect. Harriet responded and she was friendly, knowledgeable and patient. She answered all of my questions, and when she didn’t have the answers she contacted the person who did and sent them to me. She prepared the itinerary for us and it was spot on. Every time we would arrive to the next location my kids were so impressed. They both said “Best trip ever!” Harriet was a total professional and I highly recommend African Budget Safaris.

Once we’d decided which safari we’d like to do, the booking experience with African Budget Safaris, including payment, was clearly explained and straightforward. The safari to Malawi and Zambia (Nankoma Island in Lake Malawi and South Luangwa National Park in Zambia) was fabulous, with all aspects of it going without a hitch. Pickups and drop offs, accommodation, activities and especially top class, friendly, constantly informative and helpful guides, made the experience wonderful for us. Highlights were watching a leopard stalk, lie in wait and kill an unsuspecting impala, seeing four lion cubs feeding on a buffalo that their mothers had killed, and spotting a very elusive duiker at the summit of Nankoma Island. Thanks to African Budget Safaris and excellent local agents Land & Lake Safaris for making this terrific safari possible.

This has been the third time we have booked our safari trip with African Budget Safaris. All have worked very well each time, including transfers, camps and lodges. We have only had to enjoy the great landscapes and wildlife across different places.

This time, we explored three locations in Botswana last month - Kalahari & Okavango Delta - and all of them were fantastic. We even had two rainy days in the Kalahari, something that we did not expect. Far from ruining the trip, it contributed to an enhanced experience of wildlife behaviour and vegetation scents.

I will certainly book our next African trip with them!

African Budget Safaris' Harriet was thorough and responsive, creating a seamless experience from start to finish. We had an incredible 2-week safari that was a true feast for the senses with a perfect blend of culture and wildlife.

The opportunity to pair amazing flora and fauna sightings with genuine, respectful interactions with the Maasai and Chagga people was the perfect way to get a glimpse of East Africa at its finest. Our guides in Kenya's Maasai Mara, Lawince and Tanzania's Serengeti, Clever—as we circled Kilimanjaro—instantly made us feel like family. They were highly attentive and possessed an unbelievable eye for spotting wildlife, frequently locking eyes on animals we completely missed even while scouting with binoculars. Even when navigating roads that were beyond rough, they kept us safe and perfectly oriented on what to expect each day. Their deep knowledge of local botany, tribal traditions, and bird identification left our brains completely full. We made notes on our phones for each day and use the Merlin Bird App to save our findings.

For anyone planning this trip, the logistics are brilliantly handled. The accommodations were primarily elevated "glamping" canvas tents built on solid concrete slabs or wooden floors. Having comfortable ensuite bathrooms allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the sounds of the African night while remaining safely cocooned away. The food choices were excellent and easily accommodated the requirements of even our pickiest travel companions.

A quick tip for future travelers: the road transits between parks can be intensely bumpy, so come prepared for an authentic "African massage" on the move, and definitely bring a quality pair of binoculars to appreciate the stunning wildlife! And of course your camera.

We left part of our hearts in Africa. If you are looking for a perfectly coordinated, unforgettable adventure, we say to ABS, "Keep doing what you are doing to share this experience with the world."

African Budget Safari’s brought us to Viva Safari which was one incredible adventure! The transportation was easy and transporters were all wonderful humans! The accommodations were nice and hosts/managers made sure we were very comfortable. Food was incredible and servers went above and beyond! The game drives in both the private reserve and Kruger were incredible! The guides were top notch, made us feel safe but also got us close to the animals. They were a joy to speak to and very knowledgeable. We loved every second of this experience and highly recommend this trip and Viva Safari! We will be returning in the future! Thank you!

Booking a safari trip can be an incredibly complex process for a first timer. I came across ABS during an internet search and subsequent YouTube research.

Reasonably reassured I made contact with them via email but it wasn’t until I had direct contact with Claire that I felt confident enough to put my money where my mouth was. I had numerous discussions with her and was never left feeling like the idiot I am. She listened to all of my concerns and requirements and was able to give excellent advice and options - she was just so reassuring. Her communication was just excellent.

Our 8 day trip incorporated Tsavo West, Amboseli, Nakuru and the Maasi Mara. All different in their own way. All lodges selected were great and matched perfectly with our requirements.

Our driver / guide was Lawince. He was a really safe and considerate driver and really knowledgeable guide. He seemed to have great contacts in all the parks which enabled us to take full advantage of sightings and kills before any crowds got to them.

Claire suggested a fantastic boutique hotel in Diani to recuperate after a busy tiring 8 days. It was a perfect choice and we had such a great time there.

In all I couldn’t recommend ABS and Claire specifically enough.

I cannot recommend Daniel from African Budget Safaris highly enough, and the company itself. Daniel responded quickly to my queries and offered solutions, and I was very impressed with the wide range of safaris on offer. My husband and I did the 8 day Botswana Safari and the whole trip flowed seamlessly from start to finish. I will definitely be using them again.

Bronwyn organized an outstanding 11-day trip across Namibia for us. Everything was exceptionally well planned, with carefully selected lodges that offered comfort and excellent locations throughout the journey. I can't say enough good things about this company. They provided us with an African safari that we will never forget and at a cost much less than that of some of our friends who paid much more with other providers. Our advisor, Claire Monson excelled at understanding our desires and fulfilling them. She picked just the right camps for us and maximized our time doing the things that we wanted. Our itinerary was complex and yet Claire plotted it out so that it was the most efficient and productive use of our time. And there was never a glitch in our journey. Everyone was on time and in the right place. That does not happen by chance, but by careful planning. The camps Claire chose were great. The staff were welcoming, attentive and cheerful The accommodations were top notch and the food was superb. Claire kept in touch throughout the journey to ensure that nothing would go wrong.

We saw all of the animals that were on our list. And did not even mind the "African massage" that we got on our game drives.

He could not have been more helpful. He arranged our hotel, transfers and safari booking. Everything was perfect. Our safari accommodation and staff exceeded our expectations. This is the second time we have used ABS. The trip we chose this time was the TransKalahari Adventure-Northbound. The company who ran the tour was Kiboko and the driver/guide was Misheck. The travel agent who organised the tour for us from ABS was Bronwyn. We couldn't fault anything or anyone. This is the second time we have had Bronwyn help us with African adventures. The first time was right at the start of covid, all money had been paid. During uncertain times I still kept in touch with Bronwyn. We were fortunate enough to be able to take the delayed trip in 2023. ABS really looked after us and saw that we were able to still do our delayed holiday. I can't speak highly enough of Bronwyn she has always replied to my emails and answered many questions I have asked her very promptly. We have recommended ABS and Bronwyn to our family and friends. I wouldn't hesitate to book another adventure with them.
