A pinpoint precision organised event. This company deliver exactly what it says on the tin! Chris and his team do not mince their words, they gave our team at Earl Kendrick the impetus, drive and momentum to climb all three summits and down in 23hrs and 37mins beating the 24hr challenge yesterday. Absolutely loved the experience, tests every part or your mind, including Chris’s gags 😉. Seriously, if you are considering the National 3 Peaks Challenge there is only one company I would recommend, Active Mountaineering, we salute you, it’s been a blast!

The 3 peaks challenge was possibly the toughest thing I have done but equally the most rewarding. Chris our guide was awesome and pushed us to make sure we completed the challenge in the true 24 hours, clock starts at the bottom of the first mountain and stops at the bottom of the last mountain. Chris is one of the only guides that believes in completing the challenge in the true 24 hours. I would definitely recommend Active Mountaineering to anyone that wants to achieve the 3 peaks challenge.

What can I say, simply the best. Fantastic from start to finish, very well organised. Chris is an excellent guide and mountaineer. Standards are set and as long as you follow them you have an great chance of completing three peaks challenge within the 24hrs.
He goes into great detail of what you need to do, from when to eat to refuel your body, how to wear your boots, how long to stop for water when climbing. His support crew are incredible from the mountain guides to the coach drivers.
Very enjoyable experience overall.
The coach was also of a good standard leather seats and usb charger slots do you can keep your phone & fitness trackers charged.

If you wish to stand any chance of completing the National 3 peaks challenge within 24 hours then choose Active Mountaineering to guide you through your preparation and then organise and run the actual day to military precision.

Every minutes counts and there is no time for faffing around! Wise words which will live with me forever! Chris, Russ and the team were excellent.

Just make sure you train hard prior to the challenge and the Active team will get you through the day and over the line. A truly amazing experience.

Chris runs this tour with military precision - which is key to make sure everyone throughly sticks to the timings and therefore makes it the success it is for all involved.

The main thing for this really is to go into it remembering that mountain fitness is totally different to normal fitness. I like to think I’m pretty ok - I run 10km races and boulder - and was confident I could summit all three. The issue is the sheer speed you have to do it in, both to ascend and descend. There is no wiggle room. When the group I was in got turned around on Ben Nevis without summiting, my drive for the whole experience and self esteem rock bottomed. Combined with having to then descend at a very fast pace and hearing Chris on the radio to the guides telling the groups to hurry up (when I was going as fast as I felt I could, safely), I became really concerned for my foot placement and nearly made a few costly mistakes descending that could have ended my experience early. Due to this, I decided to turn around half way up Scafell Pike as I didn’t trust myself in descending at the speed required in pitch black and instead decided to focus completely all on Snowdon. Fortunately, I was able to summit Snowdon, but I think if I had not completed at least one summit I would have been so disappointed in myself.

It’s a fantastic experience but if you’ve got good to mid level fitness, go into the 24hrs with realistic expectations that perhaps summiting all may not be possible.

Tips if you’re looking to book -
- Be prepared for how precise and military the trip is. It’s not for the faint hearted but it’s of the benefit of all to hit the timing.
- Take Chris’ humour with a pinch of salt.
- Bring Jelly Babies for easy reach energy.
- Make sure you have a stock of epsom salts ready at home for when you get back - your legs will need that bath!!!
- Potentially consider the 3 peaks in 3 days option. When this says it’s all three peaks in 24hrs it means it!
- Pack your bag in a way that’ll aide a quick turnaround, there is not much space on the bus so get everything organised ahead of time including packing your food in the order you'll likely eat it.

Thanks so much Chris for the experience - will definitely be back to complete all three summits in the next year or so. Big thanks also to the guides Alex and Deanna as they were so brilliantly supportive and really made the experience for me. Chris has a great team around him.

Four of us completed the challenge this weekend in 23 hours and 26 minutes with Chris at the lead and an additional support team at each mountain. I am 54 years old and completed the challenge with my 3 children aged around 20. Chris ran the challenge with military precision. He told us when to eat, didn’t let us sleep until we had eaten, instilled in us from the start that every minute counted, told us what to wear on the mountains, had cut off times set with his support crew for those that weren’t going to complete the mountain in the required time to ensure that those that could would do so - and he was absolutely right in every instruction he gave. The pace is fast and you need to be prepared to push yourself to the limit mentally and physically to complete this challenge. Chris made sure that everyone gave their all and that everyone came home with a major personal achievement under their belt.
If you are serious about completing this challenge then I highly recommend booking with Active Mountaineering. They are a great, organised, motivating, supportive and committed team.

What an adventure! Chris and his team made the weekend an awesome experience from start to finish, and as they promised they got most of our group to all three summits and back down within the 24 hours, despite travel delays that cost us 45 minutes on Snowdon! They push hard but are also supportive of the whole team. A special mention for Russ who led our team with great motivation, but every guide was superb and helped to make the whole experience enjoyable despite the pain and effort required. A great team building experience and we raised a serious amount of money for our cause, so a real win-win. Thanks Chris and the Active Mountaineering team, I can’t recommend you all highly enough!

This weekend my colleagues and I completed the 3 peaks challenge in under the set 24 hours with Active Mountaineering. Chris and their team take you to limits you didnt know you had and somehow smash through those limits. When you think you have nothing left, they find the right words to keep you going. Absolute pleasure to be guided by them and their micro management of all the finer details is spot on. The team are relentless in driving you to achieve something genuinely incredible. I cant recommend using this team highly enough if ever you want to take on this absolute beast of a challenge.

We saw other groups taking on the challenge while we were on the mountains who we over took, even with them staring 2.5 hours earlier. If you want to complete the challenge within 24 hours, Chris will make it happen.

Just come back from completing the 3 peaks challenge with Active Mountaineering and I can’t praise them enough. The team leader Chris runs a tight ship having everything planned down to the minute and it’s because of this he has the great success rate when it comes to completing the challenge. If you’re looking to do the 3 peaks challenge this is the company you need to do it with as they will set the stage for you to complete the challenge and then it’s all up to you to put the effort in and push though when it gets tough.

The best and worst 24 hours of my life!
I defo underestimated how hard it would be to complete this challenge! My legs have only just recovered 3 days later but boy was it worth it!
Chris was awesome! The way he has the 24 hour structured with the allotted times for each mountain and 2 coach drivers to get you between each one is amazing!
He puts you through your paces and motivates the whole group to keep moving with tough love!

If you want to join an overcrowded bus full of people with little regard for health and safety, overflowing with trash and a guide with no sense of positivity and fun that is meant to accompany such a challenge - book this trip. A number of people were left in tears before they even attempted the second peak. you will be welcomed with constant swearing, takes of expensive ex wives and little regard for the training and the effort and the cost most people went to join what is meant to be a transformative challenge. Any feedback is will be welcomed by comments that you didn’t train enough and you will also get a story of how the leader lost a group of people - with one person lost for 21 hours in a search and rescue mission on scalfell pike. This was one of the most challenging experiences of my life, both physically and mentally. If you are thinking of doing the three peaks challenge then Chris is the man you need. Chris and his team set the standard from the minute you get on the coach. You will go through so much but Chris and his team will get you through it and push you to your limits to make sure you achieve the challenge. I could not fault them. Chris and his team are a credit to their profession and they do not leave anything whatsoever to chance.

Trusting them to them take the logistical strain (free from the worries of all of the travel related issues and driving/walking routes and the pace required to get it done in time) allows you to completely focus on your own physical performance and state of mind, and is money very well spent I can assure you.

Chris is a very honest chap, his direct approach is based on the fact that, through vast experience of leading group challenges, he knows that anything less than the full and blunt truth will cause problems at some point. His job is to get you into a position to succeed on any given challenge – and he will not fail to do so – However, you will have to bring the desire, you will have to have gained the strength, you will have to provide the courage and the willpower, you will have to be ready to face your demons.

I have undertaken professionally guided walks all around the world, from Peru to New Zealand, from the US to the Falkland Islands so I know when a Company is doing it absolutely flawlessly, from start to finish with not even the smallest detail overlooked.

Active Mountaineering are operating at a level that is unlike anything I have previously encountered – their combined experience is mind-blowing and please believe me when I say that that really makes a massive difference when you are out on the hills.

Completed the 3 peaks challenge in just under 24 hours with Chris & his guides from Active Mountaineering. “Challenge” is definitely the right word & from the moment I started communicating with Chris it was obvious he was 100% committed to getting us to achieve the most we possibly could. As a soft southerner I sometimes found his approach a bit direct ;) but in the end I wouldn’t have wanted to do it with any other guide. I would highly recommend the experience to anyone but don’t underestimate the amount of training you need to have under your belt to get to all three summits (and back down!) in a true 24 hours where “minutes matter”. The group I walked with were also amazing and overall it was an experience I’ll treasure forever (though I won’t be signing up for the Ultimate Challenge anytime soon)! Just finished the national 3 peaks, was an amazing weekend, well organised to a T. The guides were amazing so supportive (but brutal) , the coach is large and well equipped and everyone I encountered on this trip was amazing. Highly recommended if you to be pushed to completion 💪🏻
