Disappointing

Ordered item, which even now states on the website 'in stock online', however following a telephone call it was not in stock at all. After no contact and the quoted dispatch time passing, I called them to be told that they were hoping to put an order in with the manufacturer in the next few days and then when the items come in, they will dispatch mine. This may not have been that bad if they had just contacted to confirm the situation but zero contact and an open ended order.

Refund requested as lost faith in the company and gent on the phone (whose name i wont mention as he seemed nice enough) could not offer any suitable timescale on when i will receive my item. On the plus side, the refund was processed instantly.

Great bike at a fantastic price

Great bike at a fantastic price. Easy set up & everything extremely well packaged. Arrived within 5 days of placing the order. Couldn’t be happier & looking forward to some winter miles whilst the road bike hibernates! 10/10 to 99Bikes. Cheers 😆

Good bike and good online help.

Had a couple of issues, with website stock, and my order, contacted the shop and the guys tried there hardest and helped fix the problem. A different bike was agreed on and they got it checked and sent out asap. Great bike at a great price.

Don't sell what is advertised

Paid 1499.99 for a bike which should have been 2499.99. Advertised as having a full shimano grx groupset, but came with cheap parts fitted instead. I have complained but not yet had a response.

Bad experience. Avoid.

My bike needed a new front derailleur which was replaced under Shimano’s warranty. They told me it would take 1-2 weeks and that they’d send my bike off to Shimano for a small admin fee.

The whole process in fact took 3 weeks meaning I missed a sportive that I’d paid for. Not the end of the world.

They then told me that the bike hadn’t been sent away, they’d just been sent the part to fit and they were now charging me labour and the admin fee. Again not the end of the world but expectations haven’t been managed well in both these counts,

On the day my bike was ready I was told that if I don’t pick up my bike within 3 days (which they’ve had a week longer than expected) that I’d be charged a daily fee for taking up space on their shop! The cheek!

Picked up my bike, begrudgingly paid the increased fee and got it home to find two major issues:
1. The front derallieur hasn’t been setup properly and makes a terrible noise like the chain is constantly rubbing against it. Etube corrections do not help so I need to take it to another bike shop to see what’s going wrong.
2. My Di2 shifter battery is completely dead. It was full when I sent it in to 99 bikes, so myself and club members suspect that it has been lent against something with a shifter button constantly being pressed for 3 weeks. They’re niche batteries to source, although not expensive.

Overall, just crap service, poor expectation management both for time and price of the job, bad attitude towards customers, and I’ve now got stuff to do since getting my bike back to sort their poor workmanship and replace batteries which they’ve drained.

If you’re looking for a Shimano Service Centre, there’s one in Bournemouth which Is try instead. I’d avoid this one.

At Walton 99 bikes.
Lovely atmosphere in the shop and great efficient service . They go through everything explained each part of the service to our old specialized rock hopper. Now as good as new . Thank you so much .10/10

Great experience

Great communication, prompt response on all query, delivery could be a bit better as there were no updates, 5 minutes before delivery was sent the time window before delivery, so my wife had to leave work to be able to receive the bike. DPD is DPD as we all know. I'd change to DHL if there's a chance. Very easy, smooth experience. Flexible as I wanted to assemble myself. Big shout out to Archie who assisted with the whole process such as waiver, payment, delivery and all. He went over and beyond. Thank you guys! Spot on!

Went to 99 Bikes the other day to try…

Went to 99 Bikes the other day to try on some bike helmets, and whilst there i mentioned to one of the staff that my front brake was binding and whether they had any idea how to fix and he just lifted onto the service bracket and fixed it there on the spot and didn't want anything in payment for sorting..... Great service and great team. Not many places like this around anymore. Highly recommend

Advertised bike not in stock / poor service

Be careful as advertised bikes are not in stock. Was offered a lower spec bike for same price. Probably a selling strategy, so beware. Save time/disappointment and avoid.

Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, bikes do tend to sell out and stock levels can change quickly. We would always endeavour to find a suitable alternative however, this is not always possible. 

With Cycle To Work quotations, unless specifically requested to do so or agreed upon, stock is not reserved until the point of order.

99 bikes Walton on Thames James and Mike and Bruce all staff .
Amazing service can’t fault anything .
Knowledgeable and helpful .
We went in with an Alan bike box and he showed my daughter how to put the bike in for her trip to Romania for the euros next week . We were really worried about fitting the bike in the and they were so helpful.
Literally nothing is a problem .

Paid in full 2 months ago but no order placed.

I ordered an expensive Orbea bike and, as this was a custom order, was required to pay in full, which I did on 29 May 2025. I was informed that it would be supplied early/mid July. Having received no updates whatsoever I enquired of the status of my order on 24 July 2025. Having sent email and made calls, I have just been informed that order was not placed with Orbea and delivery will now be mid December. A refund has been offered. Totally unacceptable.
