Emma very quickly made herself an integral member of our HR team, improving as well as stabilising our processes and approaches. Much more than a HR consultant 'holding the fort', Emma has supported creating a foundation of good practice than has enabled us to move forward with greater clarity. Thank you Work in Progress HR!

We are a small business (25 employees) and have worked with Emma over the past year and have been really impressed. She is incredibly knowledgable, supportive and dependable and we’ve very much enjoyed working with her.

Emma has updated all of our HR Policies, contracts and company handbook. We have been very pleased with the finished result. Emma has ensured the documents provide the necessary clarity and structure to protect the business and team, whilst building in the right amount of flexibility - not an easy thing to get right, but Emma has!

We haven’t had to worry about changes in legislation as Emma keeps us up to date and advises us on amendments or updates we need to make. We have been very grateful for this.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Work In Progress to anybody looking for help with HR. Emma is calm, considered and tactful, and was able to help the company I work for recruit a new member of office staff within a few weeks. We would have struggled to find the time to do it in-house, and Emma was much more knowledgeable about the best places to advertise the role.
She also assisted with, and led, the interview process, which we were very happy with. All in all, it was a potentially difficult experience made stress-free and straightforward by Emma.

We used Emma to recruitment an Office Manager to join our team of 10.
She dealt with the end-to-end process. It started with meeting both the partners and staff to get to know us and how we work. She really understood our needs and how the new person would fit in to our team.
With over 80 applicants, having Emma filter the CVs, do screening interviews, set up and run assessment days, arrange 2nd interviews and provide feedback to applicants was invaluable.
We ended up with 3 very strong applicants, which was a great position to be in.
This job role is so important for our business going forward that we really needed to put the time and effort in. Contracting this out to Emma was a great decision. We cannot imagine recruiting any other way in future.
I would (and do!) recommend her to everyone!

I found the Leadership Coaching provided by Emma Shanahan at Work in Progress to be invaluable. She is unbelievably supportive and approachable and through her relaxed and easy style I was able to hold up the metaphorical mirror and see what I have always known was there.
