I am a building owner and developer of…

I am a building owner and developer of 25 years. Windsor windows is the absolute, hands down worst window co. I have ever dealt with with over 1000 installs of residential commercial and curtain wall glazing building options. Their windows arrived bowed, some were not inspected from factory, my opinion undersized operators and missing screws! They either won’t operate smoothly or won’t seal no matter how you try to shim and plumb. They took three months passing us around from dealer to customer service and after two visits want to try and fix/modify windows in my home which can’t be saved in a factory. They do not want to pay for any lost install , material or removal or even take their new defective windows away. They expect me to handle and dispose of them at my cost. They don’t care, don’t ever respond you must constantly chase them and nobody can ‘make a decision’. This company should be fined and monitored by a consumer protection agency. They will take your money and continue to take your money, not deliver product purchased, not stand by it and avoid costs of mistakes by quoting a warranty. A warranty is for something put into service. I didn’t even install half the windows they are sitting on floor for three months waiting for them to determine they are defective and damaged, both! Time is something we can’t make, buy or bargain for, they will take that from you too as well as any patience you may have had. Worst window company in business STAY AWAY. As bad as Andersen is , it’s not worth changing to this company it is much, much worse!

Regardless of what Windsor responded below,

A. They made phone call appointments and have not once picked up phone at allotted time.
B. Make us continue to discuss windows replacement for defective windows with Windowrama

C. We were promised expedited replacement windows in 4 weeks. This week is approx. 4 weeks we don’t have any ship date or anything.

Same ole stuff, no change, no redeeming quality. No interaction, accountability, information… nothing but costing us more time and money.

No customer service - Missing parts for $75,000+ window package

31 Dec after months of chasing still no sign of the missing doors or windows from Windsor For anyone looking at Windsor with their builder, you should understand that Windsor does not support their product and the warranty is worthless. If there is no after support for someone in the building trades imagine how you will be treated as a homeowner!

We ordered $76,805.23 worth of windows and exterior doors from Windsor on 25 April 2024. The windows arrived several weeks late in late June / early July. The window order that was supposed to arrive at once arrived a couple windows at a time over several weeks. In that order there were several windows and doors that were manufactured incorrectly and had to be replaced.
By mid-July, there were dozens of problems with the door and window order including doors swinging the wrong direction, several windows the wrong size, windows with the wrong mullion pattern, quality control issues etc. Windsor corrected a few of the errors over the next several months, but to date we are still missing the following:
1. Two egress windows that were manufactured incorrectly and were ordered to be replaced in early July
2. Window hardware was missing on a third window - so the window does not open
3. Four exterior doors had damaged gaskets, missing finish strike plates, and were bored incorrectly for hardware effectively making them useless.

We have contacted Windsor's local distributor dozens of times and were given reassurances, but they have disappeared since 8 November.

We contacted the regional sales manager at Windsor, Jim Erbes on 5 December and he said "Sorry but [this] has to go through BFS (the distributor)." I told him that their distributor was unresponsive and that we needed the windows and doors as they are 6+ months late to which he replied, "Sorry. That is how it works."

I contacted a third person at Windsor named Nate Mustin Jr. on 10 December looking for the missing doors and windows. He replied 16 December with " Good Afternoon. The order that you are looking for is out of my hands... I appreciate your time."

I responded to Nate and asked who I should speak with or who has been speaking with at the local supplier to which he did not respond.

I then tried Matthew Wells the Windsor customer support manager on 11 December to get the missing doors and windows. He replied " Good afternoon. I have spoken to the distributor and I have been asked to have you reach out to them for any updates or assistance you may need." I replied that we cannot get them to reply, to which Matt Wells likewise did not reply.

As someone in the building industry for 30 years, I would not use a supplier that cannot deliver products in a timely manner, with all the requisite parts, or can provide basic after sales support.

I would warn other architects, builders, or homeowners not to use Windsor Windows. After spending nearly $80,000 on the order in April 2024 (eight months ago) we still do not have a complete set of doors and windows.

If Windsor will treat someone in the trade this way, imagine how they will treat a homeowner when a problem arises.

I will update this review if anything changes (positive or negative).

Several months have passed and Windsor have still not produced the ten of thousands of missing doors and windows. As a result of their lack of service, the clients have suffered over $100,000 in additional time claims and fees.

Think twice before using Windsor Windows. Your Windows are only as good as the distributor (Builders First Source) and a supplier (Windsor Windows). Both are not fit for purpose.
