A very well organised cycle trip. The leader was professional, attentive, friendly and very engaging. All our questions were addressed before we knew to ask them. Accommodation and route thoughtfully chosen. Briefings clear and helpful. Coffee stops were welcoming and of an excellent standard. Could not recommend the trip and Wild Atlantic Cycling more highly.

The NC500 tour was my second trip with Wild Atlantic Cycling. As previously, the routing was well planned on quieter roads where possible, the support team were friendly, encouraging and enthusiastic, good food and a great group of fellow cyclists.
I’d thoroughly recommend this company.

What a wonderful trip from London to Barcelona expertly organised and supported by Wild Atlantic Cycling. The route selection was epic with quiet and scenic roads through the countryside. Life memories shared with new friends !

Cost

At £1,850 for eight nights, including accommodation, daily “lunch”, and van support, I expected a premium, well-organised experience. It wasn’t even close.

We were then hit with an extra £70 just to store bike bags in the support van — which felt like nothing more than another way to squeeze money out of the cyclists.

The accommodation was consistently mediocre. Perfectly functional, but completely underwhelming for the price. In several locations, it was obvious there were far better hotels nearby, which made it even harder to accept. I understand limitations in remote areas, but that excuse doesn’t apply to most of this trip.

Recovery facilities were also poor — only two out of eight nights had a pool or sauna. On a cycling trip, that’s basic. Not having it most nights is simply not good enough.

Lunch was the same every single day: soup and a sandwich. No choice, no variation, this wasn’t mentioned in the sales blurb. Even on a 180km day — still soup and a sandwich. It felt like blatant cost-cutting. On cold, wet days, a proper hot meal wasn’t just preferable — it was needed.

The van snacks were equally uninspired: the cheapest Aldi bars, bananas, and water. Zero effort, zero variety. Again, it all pointed to cutting costs wherever possible.

Company

The trip leaders did what they could, but they were clearly working with very little. The support van itself looked like a last-minute rental with makeshift signage thrown on the side — not exactly reassuring for a trip at this price point.

Worse again, we found out during the week that the two trip leaders weren’t even being properly paid — just accommodation and €20 a day for food. Unsurprisingly, there wasn’t much incentive for them to go above and beyond. One of them was leading a trip like this for the first time, which showed.

Overall Verdict

In spite of all this, we still managed to enjoy the trip — largely because of the scenery, which is genuinely stunning.

But the reality is this: the experience falls well short of the price. For £1,850, you should expect better hotels, proper meals, and a far more polished setup. Instead, it felt like corners were being cut at every opportunity.

If you want to ride this route, do it — just don’t do it with this company.

We had an amazing 6-day cycling tour of the Croatian islands with Wild Atlantic Cycling. The scenery was absolutely stunning, the routes were well planned and enjoyable, and the accommodations were excellent. The food was delicious throughout, giving us a real taste of Croatia. A special thanks to Fiona, whose warmth and organization made the whole trip seamless and fun. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough—spectacular cycling, great company, and memories for a lifetime!

I live in India and recently returned from an excellent 18-day cycling trip across the Balkans. I went with the team led by Fiona and Merv at Wild Atlantic and was very impressed with their diligence and attention to detail. The route planning was done keeping in mind the traffic and road conditions and there was a constant reassuring presence of their support vehicle at all points on the tour with a friendly nudge coming just when exhaustion would be setting in.. Meal recommendations were spot on and I really enjoyed getting their insights into the cultural aspects of the varied lands we rolled along… all in all, would highly recommend Fiona and the Wild Atlantic folks for your Balkan adventures.. happy riding 😃

Great ride, great group, great guides and stunning views all the way.

Great three weeks of varied riding on the Balkens tour good roads throughout great route through the varies country's we went through very well organised and throughout.Made for a very enjoyable and memorable three weeks on the bike.

A great 7 days cycling through beautiful rugged scenery and quiet roads - very well organised tour with interesting stopovers - a good combination of some challenging cycling and great fun in the evenings

Wid Atlantic Cycling took the logistical stress away and enabled me to focus on the cycling and surrounds, not the other stuff. The WAC team communicated well, were solution oriented, consistently cheerful and supportive. Accommodation and logistics were well handled and dependable.

NC 500 was excellent route with small hotels. I was blown away by the scenery on every day, truly a stunning part of the world. It was tough but exactly as described. Support from Wild Atlantic was always there and much appreciated so that you could ride with no worries.

I recently completed the avid cyclist mizmal… it was amazing, really well organised and supported with fantastic accomodation and food along the way.. Jacob, Victoria and Keith were an amazing support crew along with a great group of other riders.. highly recommend as a solo cyclists or with other friends .. definitely not for the faint hearted but what an amazing achievement

Great service and organisation. Beautiful way to see the Island of Ireland. If you’re after a challenge then you won’t get a better cycling experience than this. Simply fantastic

I recently completed WAC's London to Barcelona cycling tour. The whole trip was a great pleasure thanks to WAC's thoughtful route, organisation and people. I enjoyed every minute.

A stunning route, with great coffee and Lunch stops, with great food options.
Various standards of hotels but all comfortable.

A fabulous experience

This was a week of pretty hard cycling in terms of distances and elevations but beautiful in terms of weather, views and people!
It was very well organised and facilitated. The organisers were able to deal with a broad range of cycling abilities and personalities.
All in all, a fantastic experience

I went on the inaugural London To Barcelona tour. With 11 days of cycling to cover 800 miles and nearly 50k feet of climbing, it's not for the faint hearted. But the scenery and weather just got better and better the further south we went and the last 3 days of riding were truly epic.

The trip also had some unexpected joys - a Michelin starred hotel restaurant and some very moving WW2 living history.

Recommended for the bucket list of any avid cyclist.
