I purchased this vehicle as an ex-demo…

I purchased this vehicle as an ex-demo and it has been nothing but problems. In 3.5 years I’ve had the transmission replaced, ignition button replaced, three steering wheel failures, ongoing Travel Assist errors, and now a seatbelt warning fault while buckled. The car has been back seven times under warranty. I’ve been forced to drive it for months with known faults, no timeline, no compensation, and constant delays. Volkswagen Australia has repeatedly failed to respond or resolve the issue. This car is a lemon and the customer service has been disgraceful.

Appaling customer service

I am extremely disappointed with Volkswagen Australia and their handling of a warranty issue on my Volkswagen Touareg.

While the vehicle is still under warranty, an error light appeared indicating a fault with the AdBlue pump. I immediately contacted my local Volkswagen dealer, who confirmed the pump is faulty and needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, the part has to be sourced from overseas, meaning a wait of approximately four weeks.

The serious issue is that due to this fault, the vehicle has a remaining driving range of only 500km before the engine shuts down and the car becomes undriveable. I was advised to limit my driving until the repair can be carried out, which is completely unrealistic.
I have school-aged children with regular activities, no second vehicle, and cannot be without a car. Despite this, Volkswagen Australia declined a request from the dealership to provide a hire car—even though the vehicle is under warranty and the fault has been confirmed.

For a vehicle of this price and a brand that promotes reliability, this level of customer care is unacceptable. Leaving customers effectively without transport while waiting weeks for warranty repairs is appalling. This experience has completely eroded my trust in Volkswagen Australia, and I will never purchase a Volkswagen again.

Worst experience ever

Purchased demo new Volkswagon transport from Capalaba Volkswagon vehicle failed with in 24 hours of purchase, took a month to be fixed.
Odometer reading on vehicle read 440km when purchased. On closer inspection of sales contract odometer reading reads 1680km over a 1200km discrepancy.
More than a month later still no second key or log book for vehicle that I paid $63300 shameful effort.
Dealership does not return calls once they have your money and if they do it’s all smoke and mirrors.
Volkswagon wagon Buy back scheme send you a email with dates as to when they will keep you updated on your request and you never hear back from them again even after you have been on the phone trying to get some answers.
SO BEWARE IF YOU VALUE YOUR PEACE OF MIND STAY AWAY FROM VOLKSWAGON BECAUSE IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES AFTER PURCHASE YOU WILL BE LEFT FEELING FRUSTRATED AND ROBBED.

EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION & POOR…

EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION & POOR SERVICE - won’t repair under warranty! Have referred to ACC

Volkswagen why has my 2022 Tiguan Allspace been burning so much oil that I have to top it up min 1L per MONTH since purchasing it new? Even within 3 weeks of a full service it’s fault light has come on.

Its consistently high oil consumption is excessive! It is now even blowing smoke intermittently. The service centre FINALLY made warranty repairs after nearly 3 years of me raising the issue and being brushed off and told it’s normal for these cars. The problem was not resolved and they want to charge me $230 to even look at the car to reassess why their repairs didn’t work.

VW Australia customer support was rude and unhelpful and offered no solution to this issue. [Name Removed] offered to make a repair appointment and then failed to stating that I needed to do it myself, and pay for the warranty fix again.

Why is the onus being placed on customers of a new car to have a manufacturing fault fixed instead of being handled through warranty? (This same issue is well known in the same model sold overseas with a class action underway…yet no reasonable response from VW.)

This VW Tiguan Allspace has been unreliable and a complete disappointment as a family car used for daily school drop offs. Our family has had Volkswages since the ‘60’s but now I’ve lost faith in the brand - not worth the hassle, even new!
Purchased in June 2022 at Volkswagen Dealers for $63,297.

Bought a new Mk8 GTI 2021, plagued with issues still!

Bought a new Mk8 GTI 2021, it has spent more time at the dealer than we have driven it. To get the AM radio to work you need to change stations several times before the static noise disappears, apparently VW engineers say that's normal, what a load of Bullshit!
So many safety issues, worse one is when the crash symbol come on and you slam the breaks on and the guy behind you nearly rear ens you! Apparently due to environmental conditions, the issue is VW Australia don't care. 4 years of issues and they says this is normal!

Head Gasket Failure VW T-Roc 2020

Bought a $45k VW T-Roc new. Under 5 years old, 80k km. Major head gasket failure. VW Australia refuses warranty as car came from NZ. Clear breach of
Australian Consumer Law. Left with undrivable car. I would like a repair to this but no one will call me back to discuss.

I would give a negative 5 if i can

I would give a negative 5 if i can. Bought a Golf Mk8 in 2022. Now having issues with the gearbox sensor , lights up "error in selector lever" and car cannot be driven, but other times it occasional can when i turn on and off for like 10-20 times. Took me 1 month to be able to get the car checked at service centre. Said they need to order a sensor - 2 weeks past and nobody called so I called back and had a "pleasant" surprise; the sensor has already arrived but nobody called to let me know. and the earliest that they can book me in is 2 weeks later. My car has now completely died and refused to move. Called them back- same thing I can tow my car there buy no guarantee that it will be fixed earlier than the 2 weeks date. Also that they DO NOT provide loan cars (unlike what Volkswagen advertised on their website , that any car breakdown that is under warranty is eligible for loan car). Escalated to VW Australia but same thing nothing else can be done- asked me to contact VW Roadside assistance instead. Poor customer service with no accountability. Am seriously thinking of selling away this one and never ever buy a VW anymore.

Appalling customer service

One star is way too generous! VW Australia have been using stalling tactics for nearly two years. I have a 2023 Tiguan that has a new issue every couple of months, starting one month after purchase. It took VW Australia 7months to respond to email. Call centre reps are well versed in handling customers by talking over them and not actually listening. I wish I read the reviews before going near VW. I made a complaint to the ACCC and Consumer Protection. VW Australia has no regard for Australian Consumer Laws!

If I could leave I minus score I would

If I could leave I minus score I would. I brought an Amarok @Sutherland Volkswagen late 2024. It did the 'rocket head' cover just 3 months out of manufacture warranty, had less than 100000KM on Odometer, just over 5 years old and with a full service history. I now understand this is a common issue in these vehicles. Never the less I am out of pocket thousands and months later they have refused to action a 'goodwill' payment. The sales manager only replied to my emails when I included her manager. Very poor service. And to top it off I am aware of other case where dealers they have been reasonable and fixed issues such as these leaks which apparently VWs are famous for.

Please Beware

I took my 2004 Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet to Mt Gravatt/ Mansfield 134 Wecker Rd to get a rear passenger window fixed. The poor workmanship created a collapse of my roof on the passenger side, the window that was worked on went on an angle, the passenger side panel went ajar, the passenger cover flap collapsed and the rear roof window pulled away from the roof. From the moment I told Julian Banks of the collapse he went on the defence, lied and tried to deceive and gaslight me. He has only fixed half the damage he created, refused to fix the rest and I am left with a car that has more damage than when I put it in to get one small rear passenger window fixed. The next action maybe court for this so please do not take your car to this dealership. I have never had trouble like this in my life or with my car so I am here to warn you of the poor workmanship and terrible treatment of a customer, knowing I am still recovering from cancer treatment. I hope you do not have to ever experience what I am going through, so please beware.

Amarok TSI452

Bought my Amarok TSI452 on the 23rd Jan 2025 and on the 23rd Feb my truck broke down.

The place I bought it from tell me it's the alternator. Every week for the past 7 weeks I have been following up to be told each time "no eta" from headoffice (VW AUSTRALIA)

I called again today and was advised Mid July before the part would arrive. What the HELL!!

Not sure why they cant take one from existing stock in the showrooms and just replace mine.

Not a cheap car at all to buy and I beleive they wany to keep it off the road to eat up my warranty period...

VW declined warranty work

I have a 2020 T cross 29000kms
My automatic clutch pack was identified by a VW technician and was advised after having my car for 8 days that it had been replaced under warranty. After driving away from the VW dealership the clutch problem was still evident. I returned straight away only to be told I was lied to and no work had been carried out and I would have to contact VW head office . After months of waiting emails being ignored by VW customer care office I was told it was not covered and I would have to pay myself to have the issue fixed. An awful experience and appalling response by VW. Warranty was worth nothing for a vehicle that has travelled very little distance

basically VW’s customer service is non…

basically VW’s customer service is non existent, I have worked in customer service for the last 43 years.
VW Need to retrain their entire staff in customer service, they show no empathy or understanding, they don’t put themselves in your shoes & behave like the repair bill will be coming from their individual wage.
In my role as a manager I & those I work with show these qualities that VW staff do not.
The mechatronics has gone in my car after 10 years, it seems to be a recall item in a lot of their Golf’s, after VW checking it 4 months ago & saying it was ok it has now gone in my car, VW are asking $5,316 to repair it, I had a Toyota before my Golf that I had for 17 years, never had any problems with it, VOLKSWAGEN you are a disgrace, your customer service is non existent, I will never buy or would never recommend anyone to buy Volkswagen.

Terrible car and even worse customer service

Bought a Tiguan Allspace new in 2019. It came with the passenger footwell soaked with water. Exhausting dealing with VW Australia but eventually a new windscreen fitted to fix the problem. Then had all the usual troubles you can read elsewhere about as known issues - including a leaking sunroof, $4.5k to replace mechatronic unit, leaking water pumps etc etc. Dealing with VW Customer support was a terrible experience. Cut my losses and traded in but will never buy a VW or associated brand again and do feel for whoever buys our old car.

Expensive spares

I've had 2 VW diesels. They drive well and we have only had problems with electronics. The Start button on my Tiguan showed signs of imminent failure after 5 years. Replacement $400. (It's a simple switch-over, see U-Tube!) The park / hold brake has now failed, parts very expensive, so I've bought non-OEM. Now, a key has died. Replacement quoted - must come from Germany, 6 - 8 weeks, cost (two VW dealers) $895 / $720. Fingers crossed the second doesn't die! Seriously VW?

5 year extended warranty promotion - No cancelation option

please review and improve: I took my car for its yearly service, it was Christmas season and my car will fulfill the 5- year warranty in February 2025. Volkswagen Essendon had a promotion to extend the manufacturing warranty for another 5 years. The service staff explain the warranty by phone and convinced me to get it for $3000, the promotion included a dash cam. I was dealing with a delay with the car service and was distracted with this matter. Next day, I had the opportunity to review the booklets that provided me as contract for the extended warranty and decided to cancel it. However, I contacted the VW Australian headquarters, not for my surprise they were completely bias to their dealership in Essendon and explain me that there is not an option to cancel the contract. I had spent several hours dealing with this issue and had contacted the ACCC and awaiting a response. Please be aware of this type of unfair contracts and no commit until that you are sure about the service that you will get.

Ongoing gaslighting from VW Australia…

Ongoing gaslighting from VW Australia to a long history of major issues with a defective car that is not fit for purpose. I lodged an official complaint with them in August, wrote to Head Office in October and this is what I get in reply last week after yet another key failure from the 5th newly issue key from Germany:
"We apologise for this experience, and this is not something we want you to have....Rest assured that we will get back to you on 2/12 for an update." What a joke. Suffice to say there has been no response and today is 2/12.
