Carla has been great! I am about half way through my lessons. Carla is a very knowledgeable and patient instructor. I’m 65 and have never had any formal training but i do see improvement in my voice and I am enjoying the process.
The lessons are very organized and fun and well ! Looking forward to the rest of the program. Thank you Carla

I have taken a number of semi-private singing lessons from Carla Newland. She is an incredible singing teacher able to pick up every students needs. She is very specific in her instructions and very encouraging- while also being very sharp in her direction. I highly recommend her. Mary Paige Snell

I just had my first semi-private lesson with Carla Newman and she was fabulous. It was fascinating to see how she helped, not only me, but everyone in the class with all of our different needs, corrections and suggestions. I am very happy to have joined her classes.

I have been doing the AM Vocal Academy now for the last 3 weeks and just wanted to shout out my vocal coach, Carla Newland, who is amazing. Super knowledgeable, sweet, and caring. I have already learned so much in these 3 weeks with her. And engaging in the Skool portal. 6/5 Stars

While doing my usual scrolling, I see an ad for AM Vocal Studios show up on my feed. What drew me to it was Adam sharing his personal story demonstrating that you don’t have to be born with a great voice to be able to sing well. I considered myself as one who was not “gifted” with an extraordinary singing voice but I love singing, karaoke, and performing. So I signed up for the beginner class videos and scheduled to meet up with a coach to let me know what I needed to work on. I met up with Rory and he was very friendly and helpful in answering whatever questions I had. I went ahead and signed up for semi-private classes for 4 months.

Well, I am at the end of my 4 months and it has been a wonderful journey. For most of my lessons, I had Belu as my instructor. I am thankful for all the ways she’s helped me in my singing. I appreciate her time and effort that she has put in each lesson as well as watching & providing feedback on videos in between. I’ve learned a lot in these last 4 months, giving me a good foundation to continue building upon. A few weeks ago after worship time at church, the lady in front of me turned around and complimented me on my singing voice! Yes! Belu has definitely and will continue to make a difference in my life. Through the course videos, lessons, coach in your pocket feedbacks, and practices in between, I am much more aware of what goes into singing properly and take with me valuable insight & guidance.

I will say that it also depends on how much you yourself put in. If you practice during the week, utilize the coach-in-your pocket (sending in videos & receiving feedback), follow the instructor’s guidance on what to work on, and come to the lesson warmed up and prepared, you’ll get more out of it. Signing up for this allowed me to really invest in my singing these past 4 months. I wanted to make it worth it so I worked at it and am happy about where I am at & where I can go from here.

A great end to my time with AM Vocal Studios was singing karaoke with Adam on zoom for his birthday. That was fun and I’m thankful for what he offers here and what I’ve gained.

I worked with Belu as my instructor for just about 3 months.
During that time, every aspect of my singing has improved from day 1 to where I have belief in myself as a future singer.
The drills and the methods used work if you apply them consistently.
Belu always had a great attitude and offered encouragement, even when there was tremendous work to be done.
I would highly recommend the program to anyone who wants to learn how to sing.
My only complaint would be that doing things through Zoom is sometimes at the mercy of technology gremlins, lag, connection or sound quality which is of no fault by AM Vocal. The method still works regardless, so it’s a minor issue.

I’ve been working with Belu for 6 weeks now and am starting to feel my vocal cords open and my vocal range become more stable. She hones in and offers specific exercises to achieve voice strengthening where it is needed. I highly recommend her.

my singing abilities have skyrocketed since i started private lessons with Carla. She gets straight to the point in every lesson and does not beat around the bush like other instructors i have had in the past that just focus on warmup exercises. I would gladly recommend her to anybody wanting to their skills to the next level!

It was a great learning experience, in just a few classes, the improvement in my. voice was significant. I recommend this way of teaching to sing.

Wow, I met with Steven today and had an awesome experience. He was such a genuine person and helped me feel comfortable opening up and singing. The difference between my first attempt and the final one was pretty shocking. I didn't imagine making that sort of progress so quickly. I learned some new approaches that'll give me confidence for the future. Highly recommend!

I'm always a little leery of things that are advertised as heavily as this program, so I waited a few months before writing this review.

By now I've been working with their coaches in group classes now for 3 months and the progress has been significant. It feels like I'm making noticeable gains every week and singing has become a real pastime now.. If there's one thing I can thank them for, it's that they've made singing something I look forward to instead of something I'm scared to do in public! I have certainly gotten exactly what I hoped for out of this, in a shorter span of time than I expected.

I have been mostly working with Belu, but the other coaches have also been very helpful and supportive. They know their stuff and I find that every session has given me something to unlock that I didn't know I could do. It's a lot of fun for me. Semi-private group sessions are structured differently depending on whom your work with, but I mostly have had a "wait your turn" format where the coach works with each of us in turn for about 15mins at a time, and when it's not your turn you sort of listen in to learn from the others' examples, and you can also give your support to them. Then everyone ends their time with homework to work on for next week.

But just to set expectations, your rate of progress will depend on your starting point and how much you practice between sessions. I share a class with fellow students of different starting points, from zero to intermediate, and everyone has made noticeable progress. If you're starting from absolute zero don't expect to sound like a pro immediately, but from what I've seen, you will be able to go from "tone deaf" to being able to at least carry a tune within a few months. And what I also observe is that even those who still struggle with hitting notes have unlocked a good sound in their voice so that it's pleasant to listen to when they're in their comfort zone.

So basically this works! Combined with regular practice it will definitely get you closer to being a decent or even very good singer. I've enjoyed this and am keen to continue.

I really enjoyed lessons with Carla. It was tough at first because I tried taking lessons once before years ago and it didn't go too well, or equip me with tools to actually grow and learn. But slowly over time, I started to become more comfortable singing for the group. Then I started to ask questions. Then I started (the beginnings) of learning how to recognize what my body was doing as I sang, and in turn, how to better utilize my natural instrument. I have to take some time off for a period but today, something she shared coulnd't have been more timely... After I finished singing, she said, "I really like your head voice, but that doesn't matter. What matters is if you like it. Many people don't like their voice and that can be what stops them from improving. So I want you to spend some time, aside from the exercises, observing and considering what you think and believe about your own voice. Because you need to accept it. It may be different than you expected, and that's ok. That's where you are for now, and it's good."

I have been with AM Vocal academy for a bit less than 2 months. My vocal coach is Carla Newland and she is absolutely fabulous. I have 45 years of experience playing in bands and singing but over the years I have developed bad habits. Carla quickly Identified them and gave me specific exercises to correct them. We have made significant progress, and I really can't say enough about the Academy and specifically Carla, it's been a great experience.

Since I started on September 16th, with AM Vocal Studios, I have been impressed with the professionalism of its instructors and vocal coaches. I purchased the coaching program and have been assigned Carla Newland. We have now worked together on 4 classes and her feedback and guidance has been just impressive in the short time she has worked with me and on my technique. Carla is a pro and has a very gentil touch with the way she teaches and coaches. Always encouraging but knowing when to step in to ensure I get the most out of my time with her. I can't wait to see and apply the end results of my lessons. Thank you Adam for putting this great group of coaches together! Carla is exceptional!

Belu's coaching style makes the experience very personalized. The exercises were tapered to my challenges and limitations. She has taken me to levels I didn't believe were achievable when I first began. She helped me discover I wasn't as tone deaf as I though I was or was lead to believe for most of my life. She knows what I need to work on and hones that area of improvement to bolster my confidence, which in turn, allows me to enjoy singing without hesitation. She pays attention to the details and has the talent for blending technical preparation and emotional anticipation. The evidence of a great teacher is seen in the results of the student. As far as I'm concerned, Belu is my vocal angel sent to bless with an ability I never realized existed!

The lessons at AM Vocal Studios have been practical, fun, and useful. I've had a great experience working together with Carla, Belu & Prakhar who have been very welcoming, professional and encouraging. The semi-private group coaching sessions have been a game changer. So far I have been with 2 coaches Carla and Prakhar, both are awesome. Patient and clear. I love that Carlas exercises are related to your personal issue and is follow until resolved. I am feeling encourage to do my practice. Each day is a small step with a greta guidance.

"How do you feel?" - Carla Newman asks, checking in after I sing each song passage or vocal exercise. She really wants to know. What do I notice? Do I like how it sounds? Do I like how it feels? What's different compared to the way I use to sing in this vocal range.
And so, little by little, week by week, I discard my old way of holding my vocal anatomy and replace it with a new, more powerful position, building muscle memory - stronger breath, more resonant high notes, less breathiness, a more controlled vibrato...smoothening the passaggio. I have learned more in 3 lessons with Carla than I learned in years of practicing what I thought were great pre-recorded video lessons on vocal improvement. There is no comparison. Thank you Carla! You are personable, full of passion and really care about my progress.
