I had read some excellent reviews of Mr Maurino with regard to cataract surgery prior to making an appointment for a consultation. This was worthwhile research, I benefited greatly from Mr. Maurino's experience when it came to my choice of IOL. I had extensive eye examinations before and after surgery, and Mr. Maurino's team are first class. Two months after surgery I am absolutely delighted with the results.

I had bilateral cataract surgery 27 September with EDOF implants. I was an extremely nervous patient, and, due to my fear of the surgery, had put off having a consultation for over a year. In the event, I needn’t have worried at all. My initial meeting with Mr Maurino went some way to allaying my fears - he was thoroughly professional, knowledgeable and approachable. He explained everything carefully, including associated risks, and helped me to make decisions about the most suitable lenses to implant, and whether to have my eyes operated on separately or together.
On the day of my surgery he was very reassuring, and I relaxed, knowing that I was in the hands of an expert. The anaesthetising drops and mild sedative, combined with Mr Maurino’s superb skill, meant that not only did I feel no pain, but I also couldn’t feel anything that was happening (my biggest worry!). He told me at the outset to ‘relax and look at the light show’, which was what I did. The operations on both eyes were over in about 35 minutes. I left the hospital with blurry vision, and within a few hours I could see really well.
The results of my operation have been wonderful. I now have 20/20 vision and can see all but the tiniest print without reading glasses. It is now 4 weeks since my operation, and I am still marvelling at my new sight!
I cannot thank Mr Maurino and his wonderful team enough for transforming the quality of my life. My whole experience, from the initial consultation through to the post-operation appointment, was nothing short of perfect. I am recommending him to all my friends ‘of a certain age’. Like many others, I suspect, I wish I had had it done sooner.

Last December, I underwent LASEK treatment on both eyes to correct my high myopia, and I’m absolutely amazed by the results—perfect vision after 30 years of wearing glasses and contact lenses. I had great reservations about a cataract operation, and it got so bad I needed to have both eyes done. I was recommended to go and see Dr. Maurino, even though BUPA warned me they would not cover all his costs. But you don't mess about when it comes to the eyes, so I went for a consultation. I was persuaded to have both eyes done together and I'm so pleased I did. His team is extremely efficient and Dr Maurino put my mind at rest. As the day approached, I did get nervous, but on the day the team put my mind at rest before the op. Apart from one nurse, who told me I may have to wear a patch over the eyes for two days after the op, something Dr. Maurino quickly denied. But when you are having jitters about the op...
The whole thing was over (both eyes) in 45 minutes. Dr Maurino is a genius. The op (if I can call it that) was painless and at the end of it, I could see clearly without glasses for the first time in 60 years! The aftercare with the drops is so important, but it only lasts a month and then you are free to enjoy your restored sight.

An all round excellent service. Mr Maurino and all his staff were kind, caring and above all professional. I underwent bilateral cataract surgeries two weeks apart. Everything was thoroughly explained to me beforehand including the important post-operative instructions. I am very pleased with the optical result.
Also, the breakdown of the costs were transparent. There were no hidden fees.

Last year I was diagnosed with cataracts. To be candid, I was not optimistic about the outcome of cataract surgery, given my high degree of myopia. I have been nearsighted for most of my life, wearing either heavy glasses or contact lenses for nearly 60 years, with my vision getting progressively worse. I was previously told that people with my correction (-10) typically did not have good results after cataract surgery. As such, I was amazed how well I could see the day after my first surgery.

I was very nervous prior to my surgery and opted to have two separate surgeries three weeks apart. Given how well the surgery went, I could probably have had surgery on both eyes on the same day.

There are a lot of options for cataract surgery and my suggestion would be to follow Mr Maurino's advice. He recommended monofocal lenses, with my left eye corrected for distance and my right eye for close up work. I am so glad that I followed his recommendations as I can see extremely well and now only need reading glasses for very small print.

Mr Maurino is a talented surgeon. He explained all the risks thoroughly and provided all the information I needed to make an informed decision. He is supported by a very competent team.
