AVOID THIS COMPANY - Terrible Customer Service & Ignores Australian Consumer Law.

Ordered a biker jacket in October 2025. Wrong size arrived and the quality was poor, so I requested a refund in November - a basic consumer right under Australian law. Instead of honoring this, they:
- Forced me to pay for return shipping to CHINA (not Melbourne despite the name!)
- Made me wait over 2 months with my item stuck in Chinese customs
- REFUSED to process my refund, claiming they won't pay until customs clears - completely shifting their logistics risk onto me

Key Red Flags:
- Misleading "Melbourne" name when returns go to China
- Terrible return policy that violates ACL
- Zero accountability for their own logistics failures
- Poor quality products
- Months-long delays with zero resolution

I've escalated to ACCC and Fair Trading. Save yourself the headache and shop elsewhere. There are plenty of legitimate retailers who actually follow Australian consumer laws and don't leave customers hanging for months over a simple return.

If I could give this site 0 stars, I would. The clothes were a poor fit, very odd material, and apparently not from Melbourne. I believe they may have been shipped in from China, as the company kept refusing to tell me how to return the items for a refund. Then it hit 30 days, and apparently now I have gone over the time frame to get a refund so they won't refund me. Very disappointing

What I received was not the item advertised.

The product description clearly stated linen, however the shirt delivered is 100% cotton. The button colours do not match the product images, and the stitching detail is different from what is shown online. The sizing is also inaccurate — labelled XL but the sleeves are significantly too short and tight compared to a standard XL.

Very disappointing experience. I would not recommend purchasing unless you are prepared for discrepancies between what is advertised and what is delivered, and a difficult refund process if something goes wrong.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY AS THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY, SEND YOU AN ITEM THAT DOESNT LOOK LIKE THE PICTURE.

THEY WILL DELAY THE RETURN PROCESS UNTIL IT GOES OUT OF THE 30 DAY RETURN AND NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY BACK SO YOUR STUCK WITH AN ITEM YOU DONT WANT.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND TELL OTHERS NOT TO BUY FROM VAN HALLEN MELBOURNE BASED IN CHINA.

The jackets are really good, better than some local stores I’ve tried. They feel sturdy and comfortable at the same time. I’ve worn it a few times already with no issues, and ordering was simple too.

I was also a victim of this website thinking it was a boutique in Melbourne. The quality of the clothing is extremely poor, my husband has worn shorts twice from there and they are already falling apart. As it’s out of the 30 day time frame I can’t get a refund. Do not buy from this store!!!!

Not an Australian store. Absolute garbage shipped from China and returns are refused. Straight out scam, do not touch.

Incredibly poor service and communication as it’s now been 2 weeks since I placed my order and I have emailed them with no response from them at all. On putting in my order number to track it says it still has not been sent

On 26/06/25 I purchased from the website one Elegant Cropped Winter Jacket for total amount of $116.95.

Firstly it took forever to receive my item, thought it was coming from Melbourne. Secondly, I needed to return my item and after several emaila back and forth with their customer service team based in CHINA (funny that when the company name is Van Hallen MELBOURNE, I was given a chinese address to send my item back to and had to pay for postage. It has now been a total of 7 months later my orginal package I sent to them was returned back to me with no explanation whatsoever.
I did everything that was required of me and completed a declaration and everything. Now I am left with an item i dont want, a rediculous waiting time of trying to get this all resolved and no refund! Am out of pocket around $150. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. I know i wont ever again.

I’m usually so careful when buying online and feel ashamed that I didn’t look more into Van Hallen Melbourne before spending $360. They are a fraud website and are not affiliated with Van Hallen. They are Chinese knock offs. They would not give me more than a 10% refund so I disputed with my bank that the products were knock offs and not as advertised and I got my money back. Don’t let these scammers keep your money. Dispute!

If I could give it 0 stars I would . Bought a top , was very poor quality and wasn’t what was advertised. It will going in the bin , absolute rubbish . They are not based in Melbourne, they are in China , very deceiving. Don’t even bother trying to get a refund according to previous reviews

Love the styles everything feels trendy and still very affordable I will definitely shop here again

They have two different products with two different prices but with the same pictures on your website.

I was confused so I emailed them. They got back to me with 2 links for the products that didn’t work. Then they got back to with one link. The message was I can view the modern cargo trousers through a link titled “cargo joggers for men”.
I emailed back again saying that’s one link using both the names. When I went to link it showed one pair of cargos titled modern cargo trousers. Still haven’t seen other picture of other one.
I would not order through these guys. I think it’s dodgy and by the look of all these bad reviews I think I’m it far from being right.
Stay away.

got shoes and a sweater and theyre both super comfy. shoes didnt need breaking in which shocked me lol. sweater feels cozy and not heavy. perfect for everyday wear and casual outings

love the variety of styles available. i bought a coat and a skirt and both look really classy. coat is warm and perfect for cooler evenings here. skirt fits true to size and looks great with boots. happy customer

I picked up a jumpsuit and a bag and they look so nice together. the jumpsuit is flattering and easy to move in, not stiff at all. bag feels sturdy and holds more than i expected. would recommend if you want something stylish without spending too much

Do not buy from them.
I purchased a shirt, sizing was way out so requested a refund.
Turns out you have to send back to China.
Company name is very deceiving.
Cost me $26 to post back (Paid $75 for shirt), its been 8 months now and shirt still supposedly stuck in customs.
I have sent many emails, Van Hallen only offer standard line, cant do anything until received.
Have been scammed $100
