Superb art set out the story of Vincent as well as showing some of the greatest art ever produced.
Staff were amazing too.

I went with friends and had a great time. There was a bit of confusion on where to go once inside but the experience was overall nice. The souvenirs are like any museum a bit pricey.

I ordered an adult ticket for Van Gough Museum and a free child ticket Via the Viator website. The adult ticket came through and no free child ticket.
After two rounds of customer help chat. I still had no satisfaction. Until the day before the event it had still not been resolved.
As it is necessary to buy ticketsd before entering the museum I bought two new tickets on the museum website the day before. Only then did viator offer a resolution.
They scammed me out of €60. Paying at the museum cost less then €30. I raised this with the customer service member at the museum. They said that they cannot control who resells their tickets.

Really? Van Gough Museum cannot control who they sell their tickets to, who then ree sell them??

Secondly, this is my third visit to the museum. The paid audio tour has been dramatically shortened and is disjointed and disorganised.

Good overall experience.
The ticket office were ery nice to accommode for our request to change the visit times.
Unlike stockholm visit horrible experience we had with ticket office ,thsi is very much appreciated.
The museum has good paintings.

I havent even been yet, and not sure I will as I have "booked" and paid for tickets three times on the Museum website, only to be contacted by Tickete via email and WhatsApp giving me alternatives because they can't accommodate the tickets they sold me.

I thought the first time it was fraud because I booked on the Museum site, not through Tickete.

Wouldn't it just be better to have a system that doesn't sell tickets that don't exist? It has become a hassle and is still unresolved. As much as we would like to see the incredible works of Van Gogh, the poor tickets management system may prevent us from doing that.

If I could give -5 to Van Gogh, I would. The staff is racist and rude. NEVER EVER GO TO THIS PLACE.

I visited the Van Gogh Museum for a special exhibition and the permanent collection. The artwork itself is genuinely stunning and the way it's presented is really well done... you can't just pass by, stop and look.
That said, the experience was not so perfect, because even early in the day there were too many people.

Horrible nasty staff, extremely unhelpful and mannerless don't know how to deal with tourist in the event of accidentally using the exit door instead of using the entrance door. Wonder how she's even managed to secure this job. The lady with curly hair glasses and sharp nose and with a filthy tongue. If there's amanagement surely need to investigate this event that happened 10 minutes ago. That behaviour absolutely of order and totally unacceptable. WOUD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE STEPPING IN THIS PLEASE let alone visit the museum.
Truly horrible first experience in Amsterdam.

2 jaar geleden schreef ik bij google een negatieve review over hoe er een schriftelijke belofte werd gedaan tot terugbetaling van tickets via het contactformulier maar toen ik die aanvraag indiende heb ik nooit enige reactie gehad. Ik had een screenshot bij mijn review geplaatst waarin deze voorwaarden duidelijk in vermeld stonden. In mum van tijd werd mijn bericht ontzettend veel geliked om vervolgens daarna een melding van google te krijgen dat mijn bericht verwijderd werd. Hoe kan dat zelfs? Via verschillende kanalen heb ik begrepen dat Van Gogh dit constant doet. Om een of andere manier zijn ze in staat om negatieve reviews te blokken wat bijzonder verontrustend en dubieus is. Hoe kunnen google reviews dan nog betrouwbaar zijn als bedrijven grof geld betalen om negatieve reviews te laten verwijderen? Dat is gewoon next level corruptie...

My husband and I really wanted to visit the Van Gogh Museum during our stay in Amsterdam. We went there yesterday to buy tickets and were told they could only be purchased online. Today we went with our tickets, and like several people ahead of us in line, we were told we had bought the wrong tickets. We had tickets for an exhibition 30 minutes away from the Van Gogh Museum. We bought the tickets on the Van Gogh Museum website. If so many people are buying the wrong tickets, the problem is probably with the website. We were very disappointed and couldn't get to the other exhibition in time. We might as well have thrown our money out the window.

Excellent museum with free audio guide for children 6-12, lots of interesting information, wonderful museum shop. Tickets should be booked in advance.

It was cool to see some of van goghs works but the museum was just waaaay too busy and packed with tourists taking selfies of themselves.
I must report that the information desk lady, sitting next to the audio tour hand out, was particularly obnoxious to me and ruined the experience. She refused to help me open a locker, eyes rolling back in her sockets in disgust at me for being so stupid...and when i asked for her name, she lost it and started barking that its just past 9am and how dare i disrespect her. She tells me "you weren't nice to me so now i dont have to be nice to you" Nasty experience at the museum. (18 june 2025, 9am tour)

Ik had al privé een aantal tentoonstellingen en de permanente collectie bezocht! Ik was echt fan van dit museum!
MAAR nu moest ik voor een grote groep (45 p) boeken voor de dubbeltentoonstelling Kiefer! Ware horror!! Ik ben op 9/12/2024 begonnen om voor deze groep een gegidste rondleiding te boeken ...eerst met gidsen van het museum...dit lukte niet. Dan stellen ze zelf externe gidsen voor...die contacteer ik dan en dit wordt vastgelegd. Ik doe een groepsboeking ...kreeg na een weekje een antwoord dat de externe gidsen niet mochten gidsen! Ik moest mijn groep spreiden over heel de dag en dan mochten de externe gidsen toch komen gidsen...maar een grote groep spreiden en dan nog beide musea bezoeken en niet in het VanGoghmuseum meer terug binnen mogen voor de permanente collectie...sorry! En dan mailtjes sturen, na 7 dagen nog geen antwoord krijgen...Ik boek reeds 10 jaar in binnen- en buitenland bij verschillende musea...nog nooit heb ik zulke moeilijkheden ondervonden! Ik ben echt niet tevreden over deze gang van zaken!

Het lockersysteem is erg slecht. Een duidelijke instructie zou wonderen doen.
Het restaurant was een deceptie. Het personeel is drukker met het wegsturen van klanten dan dat er werkelijk gewerkt wordt. Van ellende wilden we een stukje appeltaart gaan eten, maar die was al op samen met de rest op het menu. De houding van veel personeel is ronduit onbeschoft. Of we wel even willen meewerken om het hun zo makkelijk mogelijk te maken.
Amsterdam, dit is een belangrijk uithangbord voor de stad, zorg er dan ook voor dat het een positieve beleving is!

Ik ging vandaag naar de tentoonstelling impressionisten. Prachtig, ik kan niet anders zeggen.
Wel heel erg druk, maarja wat wil je op een zondagmiddag. Heel storend vind ik wel al die mensen die foto's maken. Zo'n camera wordt dan in de hoogte gehouden en dat belemmert het zicht op het schilderij weer. Ik zou er voor tekenen dat dat verboden wordt, liefst nog telefoons in de lockers laten, dat zou de rust bevorderen. Verder vond ik de lockers vreselijk, ik heb nog nooit een systeem gezien wat zo traag werkt. Waarom niet gewoon een sleuteltje, gaat allemaal veel sneller.
Verder erg genoten.

Het museum is geweldig mooi. Maar, ik was daar om 09:00 uur en het was direct al veel te druk. Teveel mensen tegelijkertijd daardoor is het niet fijn lopen door het museum en het bekijken van de prachtige Van Gogh’s. Oja misschien ook het maken van foto’s verbieden. Het maken van een foto is belangrijker dan het bekijken van het schilderij, lijkt wel pfffff.
