Business banking useless - personal not much better

Business banking - bank feed pdf, csv etc doesn't show names! Just amounts and dates - completely useless for uploading into accounting software. Confirmation and reference numbers don't show like they used to. Errors messages that say there's something wrong but no indication whatsoever of what input is expected. I could go on and on. Lots of problems on the personal side too. Designed by a 5 yr old who has never done any banking.
Complete garbage. Slower, more steps, less information.

Are VanCity forgetting the Business Community?

Do VanCity think we are losing it?? The experience negotiating our business account today was abysmal. No previous statements available, little chance to reformat the downloaded current statement without a lot of trouble....website hard to negotiate...what was wrong with the previous situation that needed such a drastic and difficult change? Banking with VC for 15 years and NOT impressed...time to change??

Their new website are terrible

Their new website are terrible, why change the old one that works fine, I have been with Vancity for more than 30 years with both my personal and business accounts, with the way they go, I am thinking about switch !

Horrible bank

Horrible bank. I am a Vancity customer since 25 years. Paying regular my mortgage and invest in RRSP. I am trying to transfer my RRSP amount to
an investment company. Vancity is doing everything possible to delay my decision. The don't respond. They lie and refuse. They are refusing to do one transfer for the entire amount.
They are splitting the amount and charging for
every single amount a transfer fee of $100.
It's my money. I worked hard for it and they try to keep it. Shameful. Vancity made good money on my money over the last 25 years. Never ever would I sign any contract with this criminal organisation.

Nope, gotta screw things up because you can and your mommy named you Wellington.
Go woke, go broke. Advice, hire more CSR'S, you're gonna need them. Great job CEO, losing money already, I bet.

I made an online purchase and the fraud…

I made an online purchase and the fraud department flagged it suspicious. Even though I trust the business I was dealing with Vancity would not release the funds unless I bring the invoice to the branch and show them what I am purchasing. Then they told me I can't use e-transfer at all on my account until I do bring in THAT invoice. Huge invasion of my privacy!! I am closing my accounts.

Poor service

Was told I could not get my money in cash by teller who made me feel like I'm a criminal person was cold and unfriendly also received 📞 from some other woman who referred to me as a stupid old man was with vancity.

Sepehr Azizkhani

I spoke to Sepehr Azizkhani of the Maple Ridge Branch of Vancity today. The reason for my call was that I have been hit with huge and unexpected vet and dental bills this year. I was really embarrassed to ask for help but Sepehr made me feel very calm and comfortable. He was courteous, respectful, and knowledgeable. He patiently explained the different types of loans and helped me decide the best option for my circumstances. He's the best!

Infinite Privilege Card

We use an infinite privilege card, and the benefits are not what they are made out to be.

One perk is that you get access to lounges at airports, which is nice. Unfortunately, the lounges in Vancouver were nice but have really deteriorated in quality over the last few years.

You have travel insurance with the card, but they use a third party (World Travel Protection) who is next to useless. I put in a claim for trip cancellation in March. They finally agreed to pay the claim in July after multiple delays (because they were busy!), and then mailed a cheque to the wrong address. I am still waiting for it.

I called Vancity Visa about it when the insurer was still were not reviewing the claim after multiple calls, and they said it was a third party and they could not contact them. My sense is that the ancilliary benefits on the cards are mostly marketing hype.

Had account - mysteriously cancelled

Had account, and a Visa.

Went to use Visa. Declined. (card had a year+ to expiry)

Contacted Vancity. Was told they could not find an account in my name. Odd, as I get statements from it.

Their Visa person was of no help. Said he could not locate card number.

All suggestions the same from their people, "Come into a branch and we will sort it out". I am four hours drive from their nearest branch. I have NEVER been in a branch and signed up online.

Told them to make sure everything was cancelled entirely as I would not use the account or card ever now. Told "we can't do that as we have to verify who you are". Yet they refused to use the security questions to do so!

And then, the next day, I get an email that my card (that the day before they said they could not find) was cancelled.

Not really an indication that they have the slightest clue what they are doing.

Debit card problems

We have been with Vancity for a decade, and have a mortgage with them. We each have an individual account, and also have a joint household account. Until recently, it was no problem to have two debits cards, one for each, so I can charge my coffee on my own account and our groceries on the joint account. They are now switching to a new online system where this is not possible, and they are forcing everyone to choose which debit card to have. Basically, I'm allowed to have two checking accounts, but one of them I'm not allowed to access with a debit card. This is insane. To add insult to injury, we met with a Vancity advisor for an hour about this, who told us that: thousands of others were upset, that the change was going to take a few months and we were 'safe' from this change until at least Sept, and that they were doing everything they could to argue with their IT department against this change. She assured us we would not be "switched" to the new system without our explicit authorization. Next thing we know, we are switched to the new system! How can they treat loyal customers like this?

To summarize, my joint account debit card does not work at all. My personal debit card now takes money out of our joint account (confused yet?). It also only works half the time. Pallet coffee, Rain or Shine Ice cream -- nope. Grocery store -- okay. Rain or Shine actually told us, "Vancity cards dont' work here".

We've talked to several other banks who would have no problem accommodating our joint account arrangement, and will be moving.

Great help

I went to the VanCity Credit Union this morning in Abbotsford with a problem with my credit card. One of the cashiers helped me, (sorry no name) It was a pleasant interaction and I felt at ease. I don't come in the bank that often, do most on line so this was so nice.With a smile on her face she helped me and explained what I needed to do.
Kudos to her!!

I'm so fed up with Vancity

I'm so fed up with Vancity. They have been totally unhelpful at retrieving my over $26,000 that they lost in the mail. Why mail money to another bank to start. It's 2025! And if you know there's a mail strike happening, why not wait until it's over to send a cheque. And if you're going to mail $26000 why wouldn't you send it registered mail?? And if it gets lost, WHY WOULDN'T YOU HELP YOUR CUSTOMER FIX THE PROBLEM INSTEAD OF DOING NOTHING AT ALL, AND COSTING THEM HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS AND HOURS/MONTHS OF AGGRAVATION?? Vancity you've lost a customer.

Bank robbery by my bank…

For 3 years now I've been getting stolen from. My account causing other payments to bounce that then cascade into 45 dollar charges from vancity and 50 from rogers x 2 causing me 190 in penalized fines for a 75 dollar phone bill because of illegal access being taken by vancity visa secured credit card taking money that I cannot possibly owe and no matter what I do or who I talk to no one can help or explain how I owe.

I signed up for 1000 secured visa where funds are held in separate savings account where those funds can be used to pay off the card balance owed on card at end of agreement. The 1000 limit could never be exceeded by even a penny for purchases and would need to transfer funds from my chequing to visa security deposit account for any purchase and could never exceed that limit on purchases but occasionally an interest payment could put me over temporarily. Upon the expiry of my card was maxed so 1000 security deposit was there's to keep and possibly some of the interest acquired and balance should be returned to myself yet instead im told I have an additional 1000 in charges which isn't even a possibility with a 1000 dollar limit . My limit was never raised abd couldn't exceed 1000 and no purchase could be made. Above that 1000 dollar limit I used it almost solely for online gambling where any payment I made to casino would only clear if under that 1000 cap.. term agreement dictated the usimg security deposit to cover card balance not accessing my chequing account or joint account with my daughter .. hence the secured namesake of the card so they're gaireenteed to have security . So miraculously on the expiring of the card an additional 975 ontop of 1000 limit somehow is added when I couldn't exceed 1000. Limit was never raised didn't have auto payments. Now 3 years of quarterly theft payments being taken out of an account they shouldn't have any access to causing other payments to bounce acquiring penalties to me when I'm barely getting by with my assistance cheque as I'm stage 3c malignant melanoma and unable to work full time. I get no help from anyone on vancity side and vabcity visa is demeaning me and only trying to collect a ficticious debt as not even a cup of coffee could go pass that 1000 limit any charge above would have been declined.

Dealing with these crooked tactics is alot of added stress and financial hardship when I'm fighting for my life is not helpful I've asked fir a third party mediator ftom cancity to ve included since the account is closed I can't even access any info yet they have access to my other accounts. Any suggestions if I can call police to report crime or ...

Terrible Credit Union

Terrible Credit Union. Dealing with my father’s estate was an absolute nightmare. They fumbled the estate so we had to go through probate twice. Which cost us close to $5,000 extra in lawyer fees. The manager of estates was in charge of the account and had zero clue what she was doing.
The employees on the ground are incredible. The top end is embarrassing.

Absolute worst bank in Canada

Absolute worst bank in Canada , I had no idea it was a bank for welfare check's, well that is untill they cut off my internet access for having to much money in my checking and refused too put thousands in their savings programs so they said if we don't make money you cannot use our services, no real problem there's no shortage of places to put your money but for your own use and access I will never recommend VanCity but then even the homeless need a bank I guess.

I'm disgusted with these guys I honestly who's with them well over 7 years out of nowhere I get a letter in the mail saying that they're shutting down my account I call that number on that letter I also went inside the bank and they said it's already in movement and that they have no reason to tell me why I would never ever get a account with these guys I had good with them for a long time and this is what they do it's very frustrating now I have to start all over it feels like everything I did was with them pay my bills why would they increase my credit card and then 2 months later decide to shut everything down there's nothing that I did wrong so it makes no sense to me at least if they told me what I did would have made sense but they don't have a reason

Prepare for international travel

I have had really good service domestically but they are not helpful internationally.Here are a few tips. Cell phone service might not work overseas so your 2factor identification won’t work which means you won’t be able to access your money or pay any bills. If possible change you 2factor method to email. Not sure that’s allowed and can’t find out because I can’t log in. Also they will cut off your visa if you try more than three times to buy something even when you warn them you will be overseas.Then you have to find a way to make an international call in order to reactivate your card but you have no service plan. You have to buy a SIM card with a plan that allows you to make international calls. Sort it when you buy it because some cards require you to do it in person which is hard to do if you are in another country. Download Skype before you leave because it can be a backup. Currently in Paris with no access to money, credit and no way to make an international call. Ugh!
