THIS THE WORST BANK ON EARTH.

THEIR DIASPORA CFC DEPARTMENT IS THE MOST UN ORGANISED USELESS INTERNATIONAL BANKING TEAM I HAVE EVER DEALTH WITH.
IF YOU RESIDE ABROAD and NOT RESIDENT IN NIGERIA - NEVER OPEN A DIASPORA ACCOUNT. DOLLAR OR POUND!!!! - ITS A CON YOU WILL NEVER GET YOUR MONEY OUT. YOU WILL GET PASSED FROM PILLAR TO POST UNTIL YOU GET FRUSTRATED.

This bank is still in the 18th century. Lots of paper work to get a simple task done. Even when trying to tranfer my money from the UBA Dollar account to my UBA Savings account. What is surprising is that this bank prides itself in having many branches internationally within Africa and beyond.
YET - THE REALITY is that 95% of their process ARE Manual. NO automation, NO DIGITAL enhancement meaning that very simple transactions take for ever (EXCEPT WHEN YOU WNAT TO OPEN AN ACCOUNT) after that the entire system is riddled with incompetetnt so called bankers or customer representatives IN THS CFC DIASPORA DEPT who have ablsolutely no clue what they are doing.

ITS A SHAME as I had high regard for this bank growing up when my parents banked with them.
BUT unfortunately the bank is NOT fit for purpose and needs a radical overhaul to drag it into the 21st century and they need to fire the multitude of customer service rep in th DIASPORA ~CFC DEPT who are useless at carying out simple banking instructions. NO Excellence, no commuication with themselves and for simple taks you could end up dealing with 9 to 20 persons before your request is processed.

NOThiNg digital about this bank - Even their app is simply a link to the WEB version of the Accoun login - you might as well login via your web browser.
THE ENTIRE SYSTEM IS CLUMSY .

YOu have been warned. - Bank with them at your peril

UBA is not customer sensitive

UBA is not customer sensitive. Customers from diaspora should be careful with UBA. In October of 2025, a deposit od =N=95 300,000 was transferred to my account for which UBA acknowleged receipt but the money was not credited to my account. I complained to the bank through their online customers platform and I received an email that the issue would be resolved within 48 hours. It's been over two mo.th theissue has not been resolved. I had informed all my friend in the US that I know banks with UBA to watch their account and look for an alternative financial institution in Nigeria that is credible.

Mr Chukwuma Nweke is a Very professional and helpful person,he deserves a $1 million raise lol

I want to give a 100 star review to Mr Chukwuma Nweke,I think he works at the Marina Lagos branch,I sent money to Nigeria from the US almost 600,000 naira (November 28th 2025) it was yesterday that I got a hold of Mr Chukwuma and he reversed the money to the right account,for over a month the branch where my cousin banks at,kept playing games. My cousin made a mistake with her bank details,so the money went to a wrong account.Thank GOD for Mr Chukwuma,because of him I'm hopeful that Nigeria will be better. GOD Bless Mr Chukwuma,GOD Bless UBA and GOD Bless Nigeria 🙏🙏🙏🙏

This bank is a joke!

This bank is a joke. I opened an account recently at Utako branch in the FCT. There's always enormous queue stretching to outside bank in the scorching hot sun. Some of the staff appear clueless and very unprofessional. I don't understand why in 2025, this age old bank is still crawling slower than a Giant African snail in operation.

Time is money, this bank has no demonstrable regard for their customers time. They act like they are doing the customer a favour. It's so pathetic. The unfortunate thing is that I have tied my money to the account during opening. Just to get bank card is taking gazillion time.
Where their competitors have machines that will produce same card in less than two minutes. This is my day third attempt waiting to be served. It's a big shame.

How can I be on one simple issue of updating my phone number for a whole week. The issue is still not resolved as of today. I can’t believe this is happening in this digital age. No regard for customers. Don’t care if the money trapped in the account is needed for an emergency.

A bank that steals

A terrible bank. They don't respect conversion rates. It seems like they're making it their second source of income. I don't recommend this bank to anyone. While the conversion rate is 573 XOF for 1 USD, they apply 535 XOF for 1 USD. They steal people's money.

Nigeria is Finished

Nigeria is Finished! Opening an account with UBA Nigeria is the easy part, but getting access to your OWN funds is a nightmare. The bank will have you running around in circles, with one request after the other, never really getting anywhere.

There is no room for dialogue. The expectation is that you simply comply with whatever they throw at you, NO QUESTIONS ASKED! It doesn't matter if the instructions contradict each other or don't make sense, you're expected to just blindly follow.

This entire ordeal is orchestrated and run by UBA Customer Fullfilment centre in Nigeria, under someone called Oluchi Akaeme. I must say she is one of the most vile people I have ever had the dishonor of encountering. It is clear that she is the one instructing the team at CFC to make things difficult for customers. No one who is truly happy and content will go out of their way to make others miserable. As they say, "Hurt people, hurt people".

We fought tooth and nail to get our money back and even escalated the issue to the chairman, Tony Elumelu and Group Managing Director, Oliver Alawuba but instead they completely removed themselves from the situation by blocking our email address. It is very shocking how this behaviour is normalised in Nigeria. Everyone working in it either enables it or looks the other way

If I hadn't reported UBA to Central Bank of Nigeria, I would not have seen my money AGAIN. It took me 5 good months to get it back which says a lot about how little intention UBA Nigeria had of doing the right thing. No one should have to go through that just to access their OWN money!!

It is clear that Nigeria has a culture of zero accountability, and the higher up you go, it gets worse.

As someone who was not raised in Nigeria, this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. They say "come home". But if this is what home looks like, then honestly, I'd rather remain a second class citizen in a white man's land.

We want to come home, we truly do, but with what I have experienced, I have no intention of ever settling down in the motherland. Once bitten, twice shy!

If you are thinking of banking with UBA Nigeria - DON'T!! Save yourself the stress, because once your money is in, getting it out is a whole battle on its own.

If this is happening to me as a Nigerian British living abroad. I cant imagine what Nigerians are dealing with on a regular basis, it's no wonder the country is struggling. The system isn't just broken, its built to frustrate.

This Bank is a nightmare

This Bank is a nightmare. My funds are blocked for no reason, I appeal but they don't bother to treat the case. I requested for a loan and they kept me in waiting for two months and still didn't give me the loan despite the fact that I provided all details. I requested for an attestation of No indebtedness and they make me to come to the bank for three weeks and keep me each time till closing hours without giving it to me each time. This is a scam.

Solwezi Branch is horrible

The worst bank in the world. I appeal to the management to reshuffle the Solwezi Branch. The women there are so unprofessional and know nothing about customer care. They gossip openly and if you receiving money via Ria you will experience illtreatment, they try by all means not to give you the money despite meeting all criteria. In short they are corrupt. UBA solwezi Zambia is a torment. I never believed my mother, sister and my friend, when they complained to me until I experienced it myself not once or twice about 4 times. Use WU/ bank elsewhere, if you love respect and may God forgive those women. Train your staffs and those Solwezi workers are a shame and a disgrace to womanhood or bankhood. In short they are not qualified.

UBA CFC are abusing their power

UBA CFC are abusing their power. I was only able to retrieve my funds after I escalated it to the central bank of Nigeria (CBN), as there’s a lot of misconduct in that bank. The only way to get Uba to act is if you report them to the CBN. If not they will keep taking you around in circles with no resolution and never ending requests. NIGERIANS!!! If you experience any issues with your bank, the first course of action is to file a formal complaint with your bank. UBA does not respond to complaints which is all well and good as this will serve as evidence that you tried to resolve it with them first before escalating it to the central bank of Nigeria. I recommend keeping all communication in writing as this will serve as important evidence when you escalate your case to the central bank of Nigeria. If you need to have a verbal conversation make sure you follow up with an email summarising what was discussed so you have documentation / evidence of what was discussed. If you can, record any phone calls you have with them. You have to be 2 steps ahead of them. Pls note you can escalate it to the CBN only if they are unable to resolve your complaint / you are unhappy with the outcome of complaint. Do not give up!!! Knowledge is power.

UBA beside Dangote Refinery…

I was at the UBA Branch beside Dangote refinery in Free Trade Zone, Lagos and every customer service rep behind the desk who worked on 14/04/2025 need to be retrained on what customer service actually means. All I wanted was an instant debit card and I spent over an hour at the branch, watching these guys move around aimlessly and gisting, without regards for the customers seated and waiting endlessly to be served. Body language was completely off, attitude was terrible and communication was below zero. Kudos to the security who had to step in and ensure I was finally attended to because he knew when I walked in and how long I had waited. These guys were so careless, I picked up a paper displaying a customers full account details that was carelessly exposed and left on the table, right in front of me throughout my interaction with the CCO. If I was a mystery shopper at that branch today, their year end appraisals would be bleeding by now…

UBA Mon argent au guichet ne sort pas mais je suis facturé 2500 MAD ! Le service client ne réponds pas ! Ils me demandent de laisser tomber ; que c'est des choses qui arrive . A l'époque j'avais ouvert mon compte chez eux à mes 18 ans avant de m'en aller au Maroc . Une fois surplace je me rend dans une autre ville RABAT pour question de Papier , je tente le retrait d'argent , rien ne sort la valeur ? 2500 MAD...

J'ai voulu laisser passer cette histoire mais récemment encore j'ai constaté que la BANQUE UBA n'accepte même aucunement d'expédier des cartes visa de leur clients à l'international, meme ma propre maman avec une procuration ne peut tenter la procédure . C'est du JAMAIS VU pour une BANQUE qui se dit INTERNATIONAL et vous demande de vénir récupérer cela sur place !! Je suis absolument choqué et je regrette profondément de leur avoir fais confiance avant mon départ du Cameroun !!

Je confirme ! Cette banque est bien une poubelle !

Not recommended

Initially, I thought this was a very serious bank. Many people used to rate it very highly, but then I opened an account with them and quickly realized they were far from being a great bank. From high fees to unpolite staff, coupled with delays in treating my queries, I wonder why to date I still bank with them.

C’est une banque voyous et qui néglige ses employés.Parfois on se demande entre l’être humain et l’argent qu’est qui est important pour eux :évidemment c’est l’argent.Votre collègue Berthin en 2017 a eu un accident de travail, vous l’avez abandonné, coupé ses lignes téléphoniques et son salaire alors vous n’avez même pas déclaré l’accident à la sécurité sociale pour qu’il puisse être indemnisé alors qu’il était entre la vie et la mort pendant des années.
Aujourd’hui, sans revenu et avec des dettes de plus de 30 000 € à payer a cause de sa santé.
Posez vous les bonnes questions, est que vous êtes humain ? Vous si on vous mettait à sa place avec femme et enfants vous serez content ?
Quelqu’un qui a perdu plus de 80%, de ses capacités pulmonaires et qui vie sous oxygène en continu; j’avoue que même le diable vous respecte.
Votre direction générale ( Mr Jude Angele, Gérard Gamaleu, Lydie Chantal ,Dintar, Onguene Claude,Dominique M) sert à quoi ?
Quand vous rentrez chaque soir embrasser vos femmes, maris et enfants, pensez que Berthin respire à travers des tuyaux.
Bravo la meilleure banque du Cameroun, dans son domaine.Je me demande bien lequel.
Tony dois au courant que des voyous dirigent sa banque au Cameroun.

A useless and poor bank to the core!

I've been using this account for more than 2 years and all this while, I've been trying to restrain myself from giving this bank a review. It has never been good using their bank! Always shit! Always Disappointing! App will always disappoint and spoil plans! USSD will always say temporarily unavailable unless one would purchase airtime! Tell me, what has UBA not shown me! Various bad experiences in school when they almost disappointed in my academic pursuit! Shall we talk about multiple times that UBA disappointed and hindered my travelling! Shall we talk about time that I would not be able to buy anything and I would have to go hungry! They are just pretty time wasters and unqualified!!! Going to their bank has always been a useless thought. This useless bank just spoilt my plan again this morning, and I stood for hours at the cash stand. The application did not display balance, completely disappeared and even told me I had no current active account, Their network did not respond for hours. I left and later got a message that the entire system had been restore. Logging in after a while, it has been worse than it was before! I lost what I ought to have done this morning again because of this useless and trash of a bank!
