Fraudster inside TV Licensing
TV Licensing have an internal spy / snitch sending customer email & licence expiry dates to fraudsters. This to allow an offshore fraudster / scammer to send plausible emails to customers just before their legitimate renewal email arrives. I have made an official complaint to TV Licensing, but they aren't interested.

Terrible service
Worst automated phone line experience I have ever had and no option to talk to an actual person. Their binary yes / no system leaves no room for nuance and is therefore unable to assist with individual scenarios. The entire company and system needs overhauling - no wonder it has such a bad reputation if this is how it treats people.

I would give as a review a big zero for this service quality, but I can not 🙄.... I just simply do not need this service and then I get back lengthy threatening surveys to complete, about how in all the ways I do not use it... stupid things ... then threatening messages in the applicarion about how others have been made to pay fines, or how you can be prosecuted... disgusting anyhow..ugly messages... These people are unable to absorb a licence holder having died, someone is left behind and the account details need to change. We all but begged to pay them without luck. They sent letters telling us to complete the enclosed form without enclosing the form THREE times. Everything I tried online wouldn't accept any of the changes I needed. They simply couldn't grasp it and yet it can't be the first time it's happened. They engage the most vociferous methods to gather revenue when someone refuses to pay yet wouldn't help us. This added to the grief and distress. It took 9 weeks of continuing to plug away and fight to get this done at the most difficult time of our lives. Executors don't get paid while paid employees fail very simple tasks hand over fist. A complete shambles.

Appalling website - cancelled licence for my mother who died - still getting chasers to pay. Cancelled licence for my father-in-law (also died) and got an email thanking me for agreeing to pay license by direct debit for the next year. One star is one too many.

We specifically stated do not renew . they've taken the money out without permission. I said no auto renewal. TV program reported this as theft. I am so angry.

Laughably incompetent customer service
I confirmed I still don't need a TV licence online and received a confirmation email. Two weeks later I received an even more threateningly worded letter by post telling me my address is no longer covered, but with a different reference number. I emailed them to ask them to merge the records or explain why there were two. The first response was a copy and paste template message saying thank you for confirming you don't need a licence. I emailed again. Same reaponse. I also explained via the now obligatory feedback survey that they obviously hadn't read the email. I emailed again. Fourth email from them explained that the first reference number no longer worked so they had to issue a new one. So why did they send the original confirmation email after I renewed online, and why didn't they explain in the letter? Answer: because this is outsourced and offshored to Capita, always the sign of poor service. So the bottom line is, if you don't take this seriously, TVLicensing, how do you expect anyone else to?

Paid over the phone for tv licence on behalf of my employer and to claim it back via expenses , requested receipt via email of payment and was told it would take 3 working days, nothing came, rang again and same conversation and checked correct email to be used. 7 days later nothing so rang again and was told we do not email receipts?? Asked why not and he explained the licence was proof of purchase but it would not have a vat receipts as there was no vat charged on a licence, explained I had nor received the licence so why can't I have a proof of purchase & how do I claim my money back, they could not give a s**t.

I cancelled my quarterly ddi in October and heard nothing.
Today I received a letter dated 17/11/25 telling me my license is moving from June to sept!
I go online to pay but instead of the licensing running as per the letter, I am expected to pay a full years tv licensing Dec/jan/feb/march 26 and from April every month from April!
I think tv licensing needs to get a grip of what they are trying to do as I’m not able to pay £179 over 4 months when I missed one payment due to unforeseen circumstances.

I just moved to the UK last year, and I started to arrange TV License payment, and now I have moved house and so I have to update details and I started to arrange monthly direct debit, and then I just realized they have charge me 4 times Dec, Jan, Feb and Mar each at $42.37 and now each month at $14.12 - so they have over charge me I assume? I searched for a long time how to contact them, and finally in touch with them over Complaint Section, they wrote back and said the fees is due to inflation, but they just cannot explain why they have debited me $284.12 in less than 12 months. Now they went silent on the email threads and I have to file the query all over again. This is madly frustrating and annoying.
On 13/10/25 got a claim that I don't need a licence for 2026, on 22/11 got a letter saying my claim expired. They do not update their database
On 13/10/25, I confirmed that I don't need a TV license and got a confirmation email from them.
Today, 22/11/25, I received a letter from TV licensing by post saying that my claim expired on 31/10/25 and demanding that I submit the info regarding my license.
My address has been the same since 2019.
This is a chronic mess, the same story happened last year.
Their customer database is obviously not properly updated and/or their customer service merely do not check the database before sending these letters.
I don't watch BBC, still asked to pay TV licence SCAM
I don't watch BBC or any of the live TV streams, only movies or sit-coms on Netflix, amazon or Disney, which I am paying for separately, I just don't understand why I need to pay every year on top of my chosen services an extra fee for the programs I don't want.
