Extremely Disappointing Experience with TREKYAARI
This was my first-ever trekking experience, and unfortunately, it turned into a major disappointment—primarily due to poor leadership and mismanagement.
Below are the key issues we faced during the trek:
We were promised individual beds, but instead were provided mattresses shared with strangers, which was uncomfortable and unexpected.
The equipment rental prices mentioned in the official PDF were significantly higher than actual market prices—high enough to buy brand-new equipment. When questioned, we were told this was a mistake by the marketing team and that the pricing belonged to another trek.
During the first briefing, the trek leader stated that he would only share information about nature or surroundings if asked, rather than providing guidance proactively.
At night, I experienced breathing difficulty, dizziness, and discomfort. I informed the trek leader, but he merely glanced inside the tent and dismissed it as cold-related, without taking any further action.
During the medical check-up, several team members had low SpO₂ levels, and the doctor advised administering Diamox. However, no medication was provided, despite medical recommendations.
The trek leader’s attitude was dismissive, often stating that participants could either follow his way or leave the trek and return to the hotel.
Throughout the trek, the leader maintained a distance of approximately 500 meters ahead or behind the group, without ensuring all members were together or checking if anyone was left behind.
When we raised concerns, he accused us of non-cooperation, simply because we requested a little extra time at the summit. We were allotted only 20 minutes at the summit.
An unnecessary argument was initiated by the trek leader near the summit, and the group was unfairly blamed for the situation.
Trek certificates were handed over in the hotel room instead of at the summit or during a group moment. I was asked to distribute them, and two certificates contained incorrect details.
There were excessive and unreasonable restrictions, making the experience feel overly controlled and uncomfortable—more like a school trip than an adventure trek.
Conclusion
Overall, this experience was highly disappointing and poorly managed. I would not recommend TREKYAARI to anyone, especially first-time trekkers. If you choose to go with them, please be prepared for multiple inconveniences and a lack of professional leadership.
