I think TSOP is an excellent company and it provides great courses which are tutored to a very high standard. From my point of view I wouldn’t change anything. Several years ago I did a portrait photography course in Norwich, it cost quite a bit and it wasn’t any where as good as your courses.

The School of Photography has been one of the best investments I've made in learning photography. After getting a new camera, I wanted to learn how to use it properly instead of just leaving it in Auto mode all the time. I spent a lot of time researching different online courses before choosing TSOP, and I'm really glad I did.
They have courses for all skill levels and cover everything from beginner photography to portraits, landscapes, wildlife, street photography, Lightroom, Photoshop, and more. The yearly membership is very reasonably priced and gives you access to all of the courses.
The lessons are broken down into short sections that are easy to follow, and you can work through them at your own pace. Marc Newton does a great job explaining things in a way that's easy to understand. There's also a friendly community where students can share photos, get feedback, and learn from each other.
I'm still working through the beginner course, but I've already learned a lot and feel much more comfortable using my camera in manual mode. I would definitely recommend TSOP to anyone who wants to improve their photography skills.

I really appreciate and love how you approach teaching photography without assuming that students have previous knowledge and that as a student I don't get conned for it. The School of Photography is by far the best photography course not just for complete beginners but for those who have a really zest and passion to take amazing photographs. The quality of the courses and the professionalism of the guest speakers is what makes this course stand out beyond any others. I love this course and have learnt so much.

The best bits are varied and many but the stand out one is yourself Marc. You have a lovely manner in the presentation of your courses and come across as someone who is approachable, non judgemental, encouraging and professional at the same time. All of the courses are well designed, easy to follow with opportunities to practice throughout. I love the fact that there are notes to download as well as the ability to go back over the courses time again if there are any sticky issues. The courses are creative, intuitive and inspiring especially for beginners like me.

I joined TSOP a year ago and the difference Marc and his colleagues have made to this novice photographer cannot be understated.
The website is super easy to navigate, what you are signing up too is transparent and it’s fantastic value for money. All aspects of various genres as well as post editing are covered after you learn the basics.

I originally joined Marc in Basildon (many years ago) and completed the basic Photography course, so having very much enjoyed that, and knowing how good a teacher Marc was I had no hesitation in becoming a member now I had time and desire to process my photos. Still early into my membership but can say I joined initially to learn Lr and Ps (Being one of those who bought it and then thought “What the heck”and must admit so far I’m really impressed. Very easy to follow and learn. Best bits is Possibly having the PDF’s to print off and refer too if you just want a quick reminder without setting up MacBook
Absolutely love the style and depth of teaching. I have the iPad up and running with the lessons playing whilst MacBook is next to it actually doing the work. Absolutely fantastic way to learn and can’t believe I’m now not afraid of using Lr and Ps and amazed how good it is.
My photo library has never been so organised either. Brilliant

I'm really enjoying the lessons. I'm coming back to photography after several decades and need to get my head around how digital kit works and Photoshop. I like the way the lessons are laid out and very much step by step without any presumptions of skill/knowledge. Marc is a very engaging chap and I really like the way he explains things.


Breaking lessons into bite-size pieces so that the student is not overwhelmed. The image files are good too so that we are singing off the same page when editing.

Just for context I'm a relatively new member (Dec-25) but have owned and used SLRs, DSLRs and more recently mirrorless camera's for around 45 years. Bearing this in mind I was tempted to skip the Beginners and Lightroom courses but am really glad I didn't as they both refreshed my memory and taught me a lot.

The courses are really well structured with clear explanations. I also like having the opportunity to practice at each stage at my own pace. In my opinion these courses are great value whether you are a beginner or a seasoned enthusiast wanting to develop your skills further.

Over the years I have spent much of my spare time climbing and mountaineering. I have been happy to use compact digital cameras for their convenience and although I've captured some great images using iA and 'scene' settings, it's been more by luck than judgement! To be honest, I couldn't be bothered learning how to use manual settings. So, when I got the opportunity to buy a Lumix S5II at a good price, I decided it was time to learn the basics of photography from the ground up. I am gradually working through the course which I am thoroughly enjoying. It is well-structured and your presentations are clear and easy to understand with the benefit that I can re-watch individual lessons.

The Scottish winter weather has limited the amount of time I've been able to practice some of the tasks but I've already captured some pleasing images.For me, the course is delivered at exactly the right level and I wouldn't change anything.

Though I've used Lightroom since its inception, I knew I wasn't using it to its full potential hence undertaking the course. All I will say is having just completed the Lightroom Course - this old dog as most certainly been taught a few new tricks that I will be putting to good use to stream line my workflow and more importantly save on valuable disc space - Thanks Marc for an interesting, well structured course that ironed out more than a few grey areas for me - now onto Photoshop 😎

I am really enjoying my time with the School of Photography very much. Over the last six weeks I have worked my way through the Beginner Course and am about 25% of the way through the Lightroom course and have come from a place of being a complete newbie having never tried to control my pictures to having the tools now to understand how I can choose my own style of picture. I still have lots to learn and of course still forget things, but it's fun and it has really helped me to get to grips with my camera.

The structure of the courses is excellent. The videos are bitesize and very practical and easy to follow, even if I need to watch one or two a second time to properly grasp what is being taught. I enjoy moving at my own pace.

Thank you for letting me join your community. It is the best thing I have done since I took up photography. Your school gives us the information we need to go out and practise whatever genre we follow. The courses are laid out in a simple but easy-to-follow system that is impossible not to understand and enjoy. Not only the videos, but the worksheets as well. I make notes and now have trusted procedures to follow when photographing anything from landscape to macro. The easy way of learning and understanding a subject. It works; my photos have already improved, and I am so happy with my personal growth. I still have a long way to go, but it is fun and definitely rewarding. I can't fault you for how each course is laid out; just carry on the same way. The general areas are easy to access with the idea of fun and togetherness. 

The school of photography, is truley amazing from beginner to experienced. The courses help you acheive new skills from camera to edits and advice for buisness managment.
The members are a great community and friendly.
You dont need to become a member to do the courses as you can buy them individually, however the extra benifits from a membership is more than worth it.

The courses are fantastic! There are obviously numerous other places to get photography advice and instruction, especially on YouTube, but you certainly seem to get what you pay for. The way the courses are taught in an easy-to-follow format, and the enthusiasm with which Marc presents, is fantastic. I can't wait to continue learning and growing as a photographer through the upcoming courses. These courses have been refined over the years; I can't think of anything to change or improve at this point.

I have always had an interest in photography and when I retired I thought I would like to take it a but further. I did a couple of courses with other companies and then came across TSOP when searching online.I have gained so much knowledge in my 3 years membership and really enjoy watching the videos. I also feel my photography has improved and I certainly have a much better understanding of the controls rather than use auto all the time.

Some of the modules were a little advanced for me but I learnt so much from the ones pitched at my level.

There is also a lot of support online from the other members. Highly recommended.

A fantastic online environment and community for anyone interested in photography, irrespective of skill level and experience. Access to a wealth of self paced training courses, delivered in a professional and easy to understand manner whilst supported with quality images and documentation.

Once again you guys at TSOP have the right answers, am learning so much, best £129 I’ve ever spent. Almost completed the Lightroom course wow what a bit of software it is. I’ve had so much fun following the course, next course after this is the Astrophotography course which I am hoping to take up as a firm hobby and take some great pics, so far I’ve manged to get a few good shots of the moon in its various phases.

Wish I had discovered TSOP years ago. I accidently discovered one of your freebies and l was hooked. Became a member and so enjoying the courses. When going through the Lightroom course I realised I was that person, bought LRC and without a clue I used it until about a year ago there was an almighty crash, I lost so much work and suffered hours, days and weeks of pain!! I would recommend your courses way ahead of all I have done before. ( I spent a fortune and ended up more confused than ever). Yours are easy to follow, clear and concise - thank you Marc.

The School of Photography has helped improve my photos and increased my knowledge of how to do many things. Years ago I did sports photography of horse and rider in a show ring. That was of course with regular film cameras. So I have learned so many technics and ideas of how to improve my photos in LRC.

I became a member a couple of months ago and started with Marc's Beginners course in photography which is excellent. Marc's teaching style is perfect as he puts you at ease immediately. His approach is progressive and each lesson builds on the knowledge gained from the previous lesson. The TSOP offers a really good environment for your photography skills to progress in a supportive environment. Thanks Marc.
