...but the humor factor was fabulous! "ROBOTS RACE PAST HUMANS". Doesn't that mean the humans are dead? Or are Americans the only ones who spell it 'passed'? Either way, it was a good chuckle.

I was brought up in a family whose reference point for news and debate was the Guardian, which I followed in, and given I'm 63, has steered me through Thatcher, the Falklands and onwards through my work in international relations, above all with the Swedish Govt, across Europe. Yet the Guardian under the present editorship has become against everything we treasured, and what we really do not need in working out what needs to be done. Most cuttingly, one of my 3 siblings, who have all also abandoned TG, said 'They've made it the equivalent of the Daily Mail in our day for middle class (who else, as one himself) Corbynites. The real danger re Reform is the same as it has always been for all democrats in the face of populist anti-democrats: the left would far rather beat up on those 'traitors' who move to the centre than the right-wingers themselves - who then clean up on 'political cynicism'. Like me knowing you won't listen to this, or change course. I now read The Atlantic. Now there's real quality journalism. Check out your 'most read'. I now longer belong there.

No Truth Only Hawks

This is what happens when journalism loses its spine. The reporters here won’t dare show the real situation, opting instead to manipulate viewers with half-truths and misdirection. A disappointing display of integrity sacrificed for influence.

A shadow of its former self.

A shadow of its former self.
45 years of reading The Guardian, I just can’t get my head around how poor the level of journalism has become since Katherine Viner took over the editorship. Click-bait and ‘lifestyle’ lists with a virulent anti-Starmer twist, with the editor’s husband writing mindless dross as the cherry on top.
So many lifetime Guardian readers I talk to are in a profound state of dislocation at the disappearance of a paper that has been a tent pole in their intellectual lives.
But whatever you do, don’t write critical comments in their comments section, because you’ll be banned, seemingly for life.
The Scott trust created an environment to push challenging, intellectual journalism. Instead we get lifestyle tripe and ‘10 best knee-length socks’ articles.
There’s a major European war going on, and all we get is ripped from the wires, little to no first hand reporting, but we do get three days of Jeff Bezos’ wedding.
After all these years I have to cancel my subscription, and it breaks my heart.

Death of a great newspaper

Death of a great newspaper ! No better than a tabloid desperately trying to get click bait. Like any AI algorithm it appeals to its readwership of not very bright PC intellectual snobs (these give a 5 star rating!) no better than the daily mail except for hippies with equal zero tolerance to other view points (BBC and Reuters have followed the same unfortunate path)

Once the great liberal (free thinking challenging all viewpoints) stalwart. Now a pathetic rag no better than a tabloid for people with superiority complexes

The negative 1-stars reviews here look…

The negative 1-stars reviews here look like a far-right Trump and Putin action fabricated by their followers. Similar you can see with other independent media who are not part of that gang.
The Guardian is a relief in a swamp of fakes and syccophants.

I'd just like The Guardian to know that as a reader and subscriber for many years I'm thinking of stopping my subscription. I don't know what they've done to the format but it has really spoiled my daily interaction with the site. I feel as though I'm scrolling for page after page so much so that my finger aches! It's really tiring to navigate now. I wish they'd consider having a subscriber vote to see if they want to keep this or go back to the much more user friendly format.

I'd give it zero stars if I could. I used to be able to do the crosswords offline, away from home: a very useful feature of the "old" app. With the "new" app this is no longer available. Calling the new app an "improvement" stretches credulity beyond Orwellian Newspeak.

Poor Customer Service

Firstly, I like the Guardian as although a left of centre newspaper, it's not frightened of critisising Labour etc.
My issue is them increasing their annual subscription by 50%.
So I cancelled and they had the cheek to shorten my remaining subscription by 2 weeks because they allegedly gave me a 2 week trial in 2020.

Poor customer service. Not impressed with the cost of the subscription. I didn't like the center-left publication. UK vs US, I'll find a US publication instead!!

High quality news site.

It is one of the best and non-biased news sites on the internet. All the negative comments from the far right are proof of the quality. Keep up the good work.

Gotta laugh at some of the anti-left…

Gotta laugh at some of the anti-left commentary here. Journalism does not mean 'reporting both sides' and there is always bias of some sort. Guardian in this respect is no better or worse than most other mainstream newspapers. There are some very poor articles promoting what they like to describe as 'woke ideology', for sure - but there are also some good articles and good coverage of important issues. And yes, I have been reading The Guardian for decades. It's not perfect, but it is worth reading for sure.
