Absolutely disgusting, bitter and sour. I tried three different bars, and none of them were edible. Absolutely horrible taste.

We ordered 10 bars and have tried 3. They are terrible. Bitter taste and leave an after taste in your mouth.
I will be throwing them in the garbage. I had high hopes for this. Total waste of money.

I placed an order on 4/14 with this company. Immediately, I notified the company to change the shipping address because they had the wrong address their system. I was notified on 4/16 nothing could be done. Why wasn’t the shipping crew notified immediately of my request and why did it take from 4/14 to 4/16 to respond. Very poor service! In addition, 4/16/26 I reached out again to this company to get the USPS tracking number to contact the post office only to find this company uses OnTrac. I got the OnTrac tracking number. I made several attempts to contact OnTrac to redirect the package but customer service number doesn’t work. The call automatically hangs up, I contacted OnTrac online chat only to find out it takes 48 hrs to respond so how does this help me when my package is to be delivered today 4/17/26 to the wrong address. Again poor service by Conscious Bar and OnTrac company.
4/17/26 I get a from OnTrac that they can’t redirect the package because Conscious Bar didn’t notify OnTrac on the change of address so my package delivered 4/18 sitting at the wrong address due poor quality service by Conscious Bar. I wasted not only money but time because Conscious Bar couldn’t do their job by notifying OnTrac of the corrected address.

Ordered one of every flavor and gave myself time to work my way through them all. This chocolate is not meant to be chowed down on like a Hershey bar. It is meant to be placed in the mouth in small amounts, allowed to melt slowly and savored. That is how the full flavor of the chocolate comes through. If you just chew it up and swallow in 5 seconds, you likely won't like it because there is no processed refined sugar in it to offset the natural somewhat bitter property of pure cocoa bean. The dates used in these provides just enough sweetness without being THE primary part of the chocolate bar the way sugar is in almost all typical American chocolate candy. And no, you are NOT going to taste any date flavor. You aren't meant to. What you ARE going to get is a chocolate bar where you can actually taste the chocolate, something most people in the U.S. are not used to. I love this chocolate. People new to real chocolate might not. But when I get hit with a chocolate craving, two squares of this chocolate is all I need to satisfy it. (My personal favorite is the Orange Blossom bar. . .)

Also great is their packaging and shipping materials. Every bit of it is compostable. And the candy wrappers are recycled paper product, with the inner wrapper being made out of wood pulp fiber. It looks like cellophane, but it isn't. No plastic is used in the packaging. So you get to not only enjoy a healthy candy bar with no junk, you aren't putting any forever junk into a landfill either.

I think the taste is good, expensive but very disappointed It's wrapped in plastic.
All the information that's out there on microplastics, they could come up with a better wrapper for the price.

This review is about the quality of their customer service as I haven't tried the chocolate yet. Due to extenuating circumstances, I had to return a shipment that had just been received and was assisted with the utmost grace and kindness from the start. Theyhandled the issue promptly and efficiently and have won me as a future customer even though I've yet to even taste the product!

First time ordering, was meant as a Valentine’s Day gift for the wife—never came. Told it was lost in transit and acted like they were doing me a favor by sending another at no charge. Yeah well I would hope you wouldn’t charge me a second time.
To top it off, when the second shipment did finally arrive, the one “specialty” bar which we ordered (strawberries, and vanilla) arrived unsealed in the plastic wrapper (the others were sealed) so I had to throw that one out.
Dissatisfied and Disappointed!

I’m in shock at the low rating here so I had to add mine, Firstly : the chocolate is NOT bitter, it’s 72% chocolate, craft chocolate - not sugary candy chocolate. Fine chocolate like Belgium, Dutch, Swiss was a regular in my house…..now, after finding The Conscious Bar, it’s the only chocolate I eat, and I eat it daily. It’s beyond delicious. I call it my “emotional luxury”. For serious health reasons I had to give up processed foods and sugar. When you do that, even carrots begin to tastes sweet if they’re organic and good quality. So maybe the folks calling this “bitter” are big processed sugar eaters? Quality craft dark chocolate, made with pure organic ingredients isn’t bitter, it’s the way chocolate was meant to be. So that’s what I have to say about the taste.

Next let’s talk healthy: sweetened with organic dates. Not date sugar or syrup, the whole date, so you get all the nutrients and fiber dates provide making this tiny amount of fruit sugar a low glycemic type. The company does a great job and an honest one educating the consumer on all the health benefits their 72% chocolate bars provide. The list is long ranging from magnesium, polyphenols to sleep help. If you know quality chocolate, and need a healthy way to indulge guilt free, this is the answer to my prayer. I eat this chocolate every day. 2-3 squares from a bar. The clean, simple few ingredients: organic cacao, organic dates, organic cacao butter - that’s it! And Makes this rich, fudge type taste of dark, 72% chocolate dreamy! Other flavors of theirs are also clean ingredients check it out for yourself. I give everyone who comes to my house a taste because when I love something I want everyone to know about it. Since October 2025 when I found these bars, I’ve given about 100 taste tests to my holiday company guests, and family, and neighbors, and holiday gifts to service providers. Not 1 person said it was bitter, they are all fans of good dark chocolate, and not 1 disliked them in any way. Not 1. I’m sure someone will but I haven’t found them yet. 1 person declined to taste saying they only like milk chocolate.

Lastly, my famous cardiologist doctor approves of these chocolates, I gave him bars and his office. He’s very strict on ingredients for health and longevity so his thumbs up was clear meant-to-to sign for me.

Do NOT settle for “healthier” dark chocolate, go for this nutrient dense, healthy, rich and delicious chocolate. I don’t know how they keep the price so fair. I was at The Huntington Library & Museum last week where sugary dark chocolate bars in fancy labels had a price tag of $20. ea
In short: I couldn’t be a bigger or more loyal fan. The product is amazing, and the company integrity looks stellar and beyond reproach to me.

Bought 15 bars in 3 separate flavors on sale for $100. They are extremely bitter and not enjoyable at all. Maybe be able to use them for baking but awful for consumption

I really enjoyed trying The Conscious Bar. You can tell right away that it’s made with intention — the ingredient list is simple and clean, and that alone sets it apart from most chocolate on the market. It’s sweetened with dates instead of refined sugar, which gives it a more balanced, natural sweetness without feeling heavy or overly sugary.

Have been a customer of The Conscious Bar for 4 years now. They never disappoint. Chocolate is delicious and best part about it is they are made with minimal and real ingredients. So happy I found them because all other chocolates have terrible things and are loaded with sugar. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a healthy alternative.

I received the product quickly and the ingredients read clean and packaging is good. But the chocolate is way too bitter, doesn’t feel like you are eating chocolate, just bitter cooking chocolate or something to cook out off and not enjoy as a sweet treat or replacement. Definitely didn’t not taste any sweetness from dates. It was expensive so I was disappointed.

I would consider myself a chocolate enthusiast. I have been across the planet trying chocolate from Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, and on and on. This bar is stunning! So delicious and only cacao and dates. Lovely, smooth, rich, and so worth the price. I will be a customer forever.

Very disappointed. The bars are tiny for the price (50g, smaller than a Snickers), the packaging feels cheap, and some arrived partially melted. They might be healthy, but the taste isn’t great — all flavors taste pretty much the same. Overall, it feels like a marketing product rather than good value. I wouldn’t buy again.

I think the focus is 8 on eco marketing 2 on product. I ordered 5 bars of Almond Sea Salt Chocolate. The order arrived safe and sound. No chance of melting since it was -7 outside.

The bars, actually more like wafers are thin. It’s the thinnest chocolate I’ve ever seen. Thinner than even an Andes Mint. I mention that because it’s an Almond and Sea Salt bar with tiny bits of almond chips/flakes. Tiny to the point the almond is difficult to see and I couldn’t discern even a hint of almond flavor. The salt, yes. I tasted it.

The chocolate. 72% cacao, excuse me, organic Cacao bean. Bitter as expected and not noticeably sweetened by the luscious and beautifully plump dates they highlight in their marketing. If bitter is your thing you’ll be impressed. The generous thing to say would be it might be good as a pricey contrast chocolate in your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe.

I probably got what they say they sell but the bottom line….was it was enjoyable enough, Conscious or not, to ever buy again? No, it was not.

I originally ordered six bars on Dec 10th. Their website said two-day shipping, but I was notified the order would be delivered on Dec 17th. After waiting three days after the Dec 17th delivery date, I contacted the company on Dec 20th. They asked me if I wanted a refund or a replacement order. I requested a refund since the replacement order would not arrive before Christmas. After they previously offered a refund, they then told me a refund was not possible due to the "perishable nature" of their products. This is unacceptable. The lost shipment is their problem, not mine. I never received the product that I paid for. I told them I would file a dispute for this charge.

I have been buying Conscious Bar chocolate for about a year now. We've placed about 8 orders in that time. The chocolate never disappoints. It's always consistent, and always delicious. The fact that it's made with only a few simple ingredients (and no added sugar!) is the best part. We can eat it guilt free, and even feel good about giving it to our young kids too.

The service has also been top notch. I've reached out for support a couple of times. Once because I mistakingly typed in the wrong email (oops). They fixed it quickly. The most recent time I reached out was because they accidentally sent me the wrong items in my order. I ordered 12 bars of the Orange Blossom and 12 of the Smooth Dark Chocolate, plus two other bars in other flavors. They gave me all Smooth Dark Chocolate instead of the Orange Blossom. I reached out and showed a picture. This was after their Black Friday sale so they were obviously moving fast to get out a large amount of orders as quickly as possible. Not the end of the world, and I wasn't upset about it. But I did want it corrected. Within a minute of me reaching out (seriously!), Daniella with customer support responded and apologized and told me it was being escalated and would be resolved asap. Within 15 minutes after that, I received an order confirmation with my entire order again, but for free. Daniella responded and apologized again and told me to keep the incorrect order as an apology. They truly went above and beyond for a simple packing error. They stand by their product and I will continue to buy (and recommend) Conscious Bar chocolate for years to come.

The chocolate bars are VERY bitter, and they do not stand behind their product! I tried 4 different bars and they were all the same. So I asked for a refund and was refused. At least DAT bars offer a money back guarantee.
Save your money and go to another chocolate company!

I ordered at least one of each chocolate bar that were available at the time of purchase and have to say these are the worst tasting chocolate bars I have ever experienced. Ever. I find that they have very little taste and that it does not include a flavor of chocolate. I think it’s overrated and definitely overpriced. It would not recommend it. On a somewhat positive note the bars came well wrapped and had an ice pack inside, but it was all liquid when I received it. Honestly, most packages that need to be chilled usually come that way.

I placed an order because I wanted to try their chocolate. I ordered it to be shipped to an address where I’m staying temporarily, it was entered correctly on the order. They shipped it FedEx to an address in Florida where I am not at right now. I emailed them and got no response. I had a chat with them and they told me to have a neighbor pick it up which is not possible. I would’ve never have ordered this to be shipped to Florida where I know it would melt if I’m not there. I chatted with someone, they responded a few times and then stopped responding completely. Therefore, I submitted a dispute with my credit card company. Be very wary of this company.
