Train stopped at newton le willows. Everyone had to get off. Stranded! No information available for onward travel. I had an important meeting in Manchester at 12.30 so couldn't wait around. I had to book an uber. £35 later!!!!

Downloaded the app and paid £26 for my return ticket. When I got to the train station 20 minutes later I could have bought same ticket for £15.50, and yes same company.

I travel a lot by train in Wales
I travel a lot by train in Wales, there are some journeys that a busy, of course, but generally the service is good and decently priced. The app is super useful and it's easy to book and plan journeys. Refund process is simple if things do go wrong.

No improvement in 10 years
Constantly over crowded due to old and under provided stock. As a result constantly late, overcrowded cattle carts that if you can get on, you can’t move, more chance of not getting on than anything.

We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear about your experience with overcrowding and delays.
In the UK, we do not operate a one seat per ticket system. This is because trains are built to a robust industry standard meaning they can accommodate more passengers standing at busier times without impacting safety. This does allow for greater flexibility for customers, providing them with a “turn up and go” service without the need to book in advance.

We know that cancellations and short-formed trains can cause significant disruption, and we’re working hard to improve reliability and increase capacity across our network. We’re using as many carriages as possible, but availability can sometimes be affected by unscheduled repairs, refurbishments, or operational challenges. With hundreds of services running across Wales and England every day, there is unfortunately a finite number of carriages we can deploy.
At Transport for Wales we want to build a world class railway for our customers and the communities we serve. We know extra carriages are one of the key things our customers want and as such we have invested millions of pounds in brand new trains and carriages.
