The worst mobile operator I have ever…
The worst mobile operator I have ever dealt with. I would strongly advise everyone to stay away from this company.
I had been using a Tele2 prepaid SIM card for about 10 years. One day I visited one of their stores to ask whether I could switch to a monthly plan and get a phone as part of the contract, since I knew other operators sometimes offer this to long-term customers.
The sales representative assured me that this was absolutely possible. The phone I wanted was out of stock, but I was told I would receive it later, so I signed the contract. I was also told that the first three months of the plan would be free. That turned out to be false — I was charged for those months anyway.
For weeks, the phone showed as unavailable on the website. Then my friend visited another Tele2 store, where an employee told him that the phone was actually in stock at a different location, even though the website still showed it as unavailable.
My friend asked whether he could collect it on my behalf. The employee called me, verified my identity and passport details, and I confirmed that I authorized my friend to pick up the phone. The employee then said everything was arranged, reserved the phone, and told my friend to go to the other store.
My friend drove across the city in heavy traffic, wasting a lot of time, only to be told upon arrival that they would not give him the phone because I had to collect it in person.
At that point I gave up, bought the phone elsewhere, and called customer support to cancel my contract with Tele2.
The support agent told me that cancelling it remotely would take several weeks because they first had to send me a new prepaid SIM card. They suggested it would be much faster if I simply went to a store, picked up a prepaid SIM there, and cancelled the contract in person.
So I drove to the store, waited in line because there was only one employee serving everyone, and finally reached the counter. I asked to cancel my contract.
I was then told that I couldn’t cancel it because a phone reservation was still attached to my account.
I explained that I had never received the phone, didn’t want it anymore because I had already bought one elsewhere due to their delays, and asked them to remove the reservation and cancel the contract.
The employee told me she couldn’t remove the reservation because only the employee who originally created it had permission to do so. She told me I had to go to a completely different store and deal with that person instead.
But that wasn’t the end of it.
I called customer support again and asked them to cancel the contract remotely instead of making me drive all over the city.
They told me everything was fine, that someone would contact me the next day, confirm everything, cancel the contract, and send me a new Pildyk prepaid SIM card.
A week passed. Nobody called.
I called again.
Another employee promised that this time someone would definitely call me the next day.
Another week passed.
Still nothing.
When I called yet again, a different support agent told me that remote cancellation was actually impossible and that I had to visit a store in person.
By the time I finally managed to go back to the store, more than two months had passed. There I was informed that instead of paying the original €20 early termination fee, I now had to pay €40 simply because those two months had gone by while I was waiting for Tele2 to do what they had repeatedly promised.
Now I finally have my new Pildyk SIM card, but it has been inactive for over 24 hours. Tele2 deactivated my old SIM card but still hasn’t managed to activate the new one, leaving me without any mobile service for an entire day.
And I honestly doubt this is the end of my problems, because I still have to pay my final bill after cancelling the contract. Tele2 gives you no clear instructions on how to do that. You’re expected to somehow track down the final invoice yourself and figure out how to pay it, when they could simply email it to you automatically.
This has been, without question, the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had with a mobile operator. I would never recommend Tele2 to anyone. Stay away.
