I employed the litigation services of James Carpenter for a matter relating to my property.
James’s expertise and dedication was invaluable. He was persistent, fair and transparent throughout the whole process. He clearly explained the steps and always communicated and acted quickly. He really fought my corner and I appreciated his calm and professional demeanour throughout a challenging case. We used Taylor Walton for the conveyancing for the sale of our house and the service received was excellent. Samina was particularly good in the speed of her communication and responses which reassured us that the process was being dealt with very efficiently by our solicitor. Overall, I would recommend the Taylor Walton Harpenden Office, who assisted us with both our purchase and sale.

My only criticism would be that everything is still conducted in a very old fashioned way, with all communications via template-based letters/emails and occasional calls (more often from us to the office). In this day and age, the process could be significantly improved (and made much more efficient for all parties) by investing in a client portal, such that everything is found in one place and all communications can be managed this way, as it was often the case that different members of the team were sending emails to us through the lead solicitor's email address, which doesn't help in terms of continuity of communications. Next time I move home (which I hope is a long, long time away), I will only work with a solicitor that has moved to this approach, as from speaking with others it sounds significantly more efficient and less stressful.

All that said, the team did get both transactions over the line as we'd hoped and did so whilst being polite and professional throughout, hence the 5 stars overall.

Amazing firm, couldn't recommend enough! We used Taylor Walton for two separate matters and were very impressed with all the people involved. Firstly, there was quite a unique issue with the headlease of our apartment (and the other apartments in the building) and we had James and Howard take care of this for us. It took a long time due to a ****head freeholder and difficult legal aspects, as well as having to deal with 21 flat owners altogether, but thanks to Taylor Walton the issue was sorted and our flats became sellable again!
Once we had sold our flat we decided to use the same firm for conveyancing, as it would be easier having to explain to our purchaser's solicitors the legal issues we had previously had and the subsequent extra documentation involved in the sale, since they were familiar with it. Again, our conveyancer Shalina was amazing, both with our sale and the purchase of our new home. She was always chasing the other solicitors even without us prompting, and keeping us in the loop. I have worked in the residential sales sector for years, working with many solicitors, and this is the first time I have ever dealt with a solicitor who actually does their job and does it incredibly well and genuinely cares. We have recommended Shalina to our friends as well and will definitely consider using TW again in the future!

Tom and his team went above and beyond to help get a long and really complicated sale finally over the line.
