Terrible broadband service and customer service

Terrible broadband service and possibly the worst customer service I’ve ever had the misfortune to experience.

My parents in their 80’s have TalkTalk, they don’t understand tech but have been paying for TalkTalk broadband for 12 months. They cannot stream and when I tried to check the web it takes minutes for a web page to load. They just thought this was how it was meant to behave.

The TalkTalk dashboard will run a sped test to the router. It reported 2 Mbps which is dead slow but they report it as Good and normal for the area. Uswitch, Which, BT sites all disagree - they should be able to get 700Mbps.

You cannot talk to anyone at TalkTalk, you have to chat to a bot for 10 minutes which then informs you that tech support is not available in the evenings or at weekends. If you try and raise it complaint it directs you to the bot again which informs you they are only open 9-5.

I am closing their TalkTalk account as soon as they are able to answer a phone call.

Broadband stopped working 2 days ago

Broadband stopped working 2 days ago. Through my account they stated that case was still open and status was “in progress” and they were aware of a technical issue and were working with Openreach to resolve. Impossible to get an actual customer service representative to talk to!

Yes 5 Stars.......

5 stars awarded .........I have experienced some issues and am still waiting for the router to arrive but the staff have all been so kind and polite. I can't fault them. I have had a refund on over paying plus additional money given to me as a goodwill gesture. I spoke to a lovely lady Nokwanda she was so helpful and explained the situation with the dispatching department. So thank you again as l know this job cannot be easy at times. Have a lovely Christmas Nokwanda.

Horrible customer service and landline never worked

We have been chasing them since September 2025 for installing a landline. The service has never been operational and the Talk Talk team has not been able to resolve it, they keep ong going back and forth with calls and emails but no result. We have spent hours on calls with them and sent numerous emails; however, even after the engineer's visit, the service was never operational. Now we are a small business and cannot afford to lose customers duringthe festive period. So we tried to chasew them again but now they just call and hang up in 20seconds and without responding and then sent an email saying they contacted us. I am cancelling the service however they are charging cancellation fees when the landline was not operational even for a single day over last three months. Extremely misleading customer service, waste of time and money.

⭐ 1 Star — Horrendous Experience with TalkTalk

Absolutely awful experience with TalkTalk. Not only did they refuse to provide a refund for charges that were clearly incorrect, but they also kept adding on random “miscellaneous” fees with no explanation whatsoever. Every interaction felt like a battle, and customer service offered zero help or accountability. I’ve never dealt with a company so disorganized and unwilling to resolve their own mistakes. Horrendous from start to finish. Would never recommend.

If I could give them zero stars I…

If I could give them zero stars I could. Changed to Talk Talk in October, 4 weeks in none of my devices will connect to the router, absolutely no help whatsoever form talk talk, I'm now stuck in a 24 month contract with no wifi access. No customer support at all, an automated bot then 'we'll put you through to an agent' then nothing...Anyone reading this please choose another company.

Awful

Awful. Multiple phone calls and online chats. Contract not signed their side, router not sent out. Resolved after 4 weeks and a complaint, only to find out that iv then been charged despite recorded calls and chat transcribes. No one can answer a simple question when you finally get through, must pass to other departments. And to top it off, was then hung up on

Avoid this outfit at all costs their customer service is the worst in the UK our 89 year old mother was forced into dealing with them as the previous supplier folded the broadband equipment is years out of date she requested new kit over 4 weeks ago (no sign) chased it up on 4 occasions it will be with you in 48 hours 2 weeks on (no sign) this is that talktalk treat their old age customers and all other customers to say they are shocking is an under statement avoid at all cost you’ve been warned

Trying to finalise your account is a nightmare

I was at the end of my contract & found a cheaper deal than Talk Talk - spoke to two ladies for over an hour on the 31Oct to explain I wasn't continuing with my broadband with them ( Talk Talk
- Rang again on the 11th November to confirm this & told me I hadn't informed them - they call there number the Retention number - & I can see why
Today I received an email telling me I will be billed until the end of December
My new broadband started on the the 11th of November
Talk Talk mention me paying them another £94 - that's two months payments - - telling me about how I will receive the box to return there equipment - - - I would not recommend this company to anyone as they speak to you as if you don't understand - & repeat there terms & conditions while you trying to get them to understand your leaving -

Negative company we had fibre fitted…talk talk experience

Negative company we had fibre fitted +phone digital voice instal went well but engineer left us with no phone for a week contacted talk talk customer services severely times to say the land-line was a lifeline for a disabled person. The problem was not resolved after severely promises it would be. We would not recommend this company to anyone after are experience with them fullstop. We have since left them and gone else where.

Talk talk are the worst provider ever

Talk talk are the worst provider - was due to go live on the 7th - after raising a formal complaint they offered me £20 credit and garentee I would be online by the 11th, it’s the 13th now, still no internet, call centre staff will tell you anything to get you off the phone. That’s if can even get to speak to someone as the phone line constantly tries to disconnect you or force you to talk to an automated machine. I have been told to wait “just 24 hours” every day for the past week, no one takes responsibility, no one really cares. Worst company I’ve ever dealt with. I am currently raising a formal complaint then I am moving providers.

Lack of integrity

At the beginning of this year, when I wanted to renew my contract, the company renewed it for me, but they changed the terms and conditions without my knowledge. After I started using the new contract, I found that the upload speed had become much slower, yet the price was higher than before. Therefore, I believe they have a serious issue with integrity

No response to query as promised

No response to query as promised. I had to chase and chase and chase. I was told I needed a new router at extra charge and extended contract. Problem eventually resolved without!

Disgusting Treatment of a Vulnerable Person by Talk Talk

If you have a care alarm attached to the phone line, or a relative with a care alarm do not go near this company. My 90 year old neighbour's phone line went down last Monday and despite being told it was a priority call on numerous occasions it took them until Friday to get it repaired. This meant that she was left without any way of calling for help. Someone called Dave, who said he was CEO (but as stated she can't hear very well), rang her today and said they were improving. Well, when? And improving from rock bottom still makes them very bad. Also, she had asked them time and time again to deal with me as she has trouble hearing on the phone. When Dave called her today he said he could not speak to me and when she asked him to call back at a time I could be there he said that wasn't possible. If he really is the CEO then he doesn't have much say about the use of his time. Or was he more confident that he could bamboozle a 90 year old with no one else there? He offered Rosemary one month's free line rental, but this wouldn't come into effect for a couple of months due to billing. This is not only inadequate (£37!) for the amount of distress they have caused, but is a bribe so that she does not leave the company until that is paid to her. If they were truly sorry they could put the money in her account. I really hope that if they have older relatives, or if they are ever scared and alone with no way of calling for help they are treated with more care and kindness than Talk Talk showed to my neighbour.

I am so beyond disgusted with this company I do not have any more words to describe their shameful behaviour.

Unable to cancel scam

Been trying to cancel for some time. Have left the property 2 months ago. First they day they need 30 days notice. Done that, paid an extra bill when not even in the house and bills keep coming. Terrible customer service.

Talk talk

I have been a talk talk customer for a while now as they took over from shell .earlier this week I was delivered a router i never ordered .I went into my account to see a new contract set up .I never authorised this .I did an online chat to be told I set this up on a compare site which I told them I had not .I was then told if I wanted to cancel all my Internet would be switched off straight away .There was no concern that I did not do this .After not getting anywhere as I need my Internet for work I decided to phone them countless times with no success of talking to anyone ,so I went back online chat again .I was then told I did it through my account which I said I didn't and can't be legal, again not listening .I asked why didn't I get a conformation email if I had entered a so called new contract, again banging my head on the wall so this ended up with this agent telling me that I had to give 14 days and I could not have any service with them .The agent wanted me to agree before telling me terms and conditions. When I was given them there was a charge of £236 which I then said no way but she had a word with her manager and it will be wavered. I asked for an email confirming this she said she would send one ,guess what I got a email saying I had to pay £236 .im now getting in touch with the ombudsman as this is disgraceful and im not letting this go .infact disgraceful and im sure illegal as I never asked for a new contract ..
Talk talk should be ashamed of the way they do business!!!

Don’t try and cancel because Talk Talk will just ignore you.

Trying to cancel phone/ broadband for elderly disabled housebound relative. Despite being given notice verbally and in writing (twice) over a number of months they just respond with letters telling us to do what we have already done and they continue to send bills. It seems impossible to cancel despite doing what they ask. I am in the process of contacting my relatives MP to see if they will help. If it was possible I would give no stars to this awful company.
