I note the reply from Sutara, this would appear to be their normal response. I have an email chain that proves I have been asking for my money back, and they constantly fob you off with this same response, they say they have initiated a chargeback, so now it is down to my bank. This is untrue, they are not Buddhist orientated at all. It is deeply disappointing that they use the Buddha’s name in this disgraceful behaviour

Sutara took my money but that is all

I bought the Sutara app and was billed but wasn’t able to access it. When I reached out to them they never responded. When I tried to access the support app it didn’t work. I can’t believe an app that is supposed to be based on loving kindness principles could be such a rip off. This is the first review I have ever written for anything. So sad.

Great way to start the day

I listen to these in the morning and they really help me have a focused and calm center for the day. I really enjoy the narrators voice tone and pace. The imagery and detail is very engaging. Much easier to use and more digestible than searching thru millions of videos. I have favorite koans I will listen to again and again and know which ones to listen to if I am navigating a situation where I could use a reminder to refocus myself.

AVOID SCAM

SCAMMERS Apple clearly are not listening either!!

I signed up for this app for calming Buddhist stories and was happy to pay the £39.99 for one year subscription.

What a joke!! This app is supposed to help people relax and unwind….

I did enjoy it at first but as I always do I cancelled my subscription so it did not auto renew a year later.

I then noticed I was being charged a monthly subscription for £29.99 not via Apple but via my card without my permission or knowledge, like many others have mentioned.

Interesting 🤔on the App Store all reviews are negative…. 1 star ⭐How are they giving themselves even 2.3? That even looks… dodgy

So first my selection of £39.99 for one year was not taken actually £59.99 was taken via Apple and I then cancelled the subscription.

Then they decided to just charge my card $29.99 and $39.99 randomly over seven times!! for a service I had not requested and I had cancelled the app after purchase… so no active subscription.

Avoid!!! It’s a total con. The amount of people with this exact experience Its clearly NOT an app glitch or mistake.

UPDATE Their response below is a totally false… This app was started through Apple and not a website. The payment was still incorrect and was taken from the App Store!

The ping ping on my bank card for almost £200??? No these scammers don’t want to refund you

Horrible experienc

My experience with this app is pretty similar to other reviews so it would appear to be a pattern. I signed up for $4.99. I downloaded the app and I was asked which plan I wanted. Since I had already paid I stopped at that point and exited the app. I assumed I needed to create an account so went back into the app and tried again to set it up but again I was instructed to chose which plan I wanted. I checked my bank acct and found I had been charged three times, $4.99, $29.99 and 39.99. This was without even selecting an option and closing out the app before proceeding. They had my account number from the initial sign which is how they were able to keep charging me. I googled how to cancel and it said to go to the app but I had not set up an account to do so because again, it kept charging me. As far as I am concerned this company is blatantly defrauding people. I have file a claim with my bank.

Absolute SCAMMERS. Committing to one year membership does not let you into the app. You are connected first to further renewal commitment AND unbeknownst an automatic premium commitment which they charge you a further 29.99 the very next working day! IF you manage to cancel the subscription in light of these unexpected further charges they charge a further 14.99 automatically!!!!

1. I decided to go ahead with a 1 month subscription for $6.99, but while setting it up I was taken to a page that looked like I'd have to pay $12.99. I thought that was weird - there is no X, nor is there a "No thanks" button. Then I noticed a link in the upper right corner that said something like "Restore your subscription" which I thought I'd try. It worked, though I thought that was a bit deceptive, but decided to continue with my $6.99 subscription
2. I then received an email with a receipt for $6.99, BUT I also received a receipt for Premium Stores of $0.00 WITH AN AUTO RENEWAL OF $29.99. I did NOT at any point sign up for "Premium" stories.
3. I went to Apple Pay to cancel the auto-renewal, but NEITHER of these subscriptions were there (typically, Apple Pay always shows your subscriptions). I was about to send a scathing email to the company, when I thought I'd poke around some reviews. I found this Trustpilot site where someone was given instructions to go into Settings on the Sutara app to cancel a subscription. I've done that, and was able to cancel the subscription for the Premium after getting at least 2 offers to drop the price.
I like the stories but am shocked and disappointed with the company's way of doing business. I'm going to cancel my "1-month subscription for $6.99" before the May "auto-renewal". If this company doesn't change it's ways, I hope that bad reviews and Karma will destroy them so that they can't keep trying to trick people into paying for things they never ordered!

Do not download this app, will empty your bank account

Do not download this app, they charge you the initial $10 then 7 days later take a further $43. Completely unauthorised and fraudulent. I am now going through a long painful process with bank to both get my money back and stop them withdrawing more money.

Mistakenly subscribed

I mistakenly subscribed before realising this app only works on Apple products. Cancelled immediately and asked for a refund. They sent me a message saying the refund was processed about 3 weeks ago and since then I only get the same message telling me they are a reputable company but they don't answer my request for more information about the refund. Next step - get my bank involved.

NEVER been so frustrated in my LIFE

I have NEVER been so frustrated in my LIFE than with this website. Absolutely shonky !!!! I have emailed numerous times regarding access to the App that no longer lets me log in even when i have paid 2 amounts for a monthly subscription ?? i cannot even see why 2 amounts have come out !!! And they never answer their emails. Time for the bank to get involved and Apple they should be shut down !!!!

Opzeggen subscription opgelicht

Ik heb mij aangemeld voor een proefperiode van 30 dagen bij de Sutara-app. De aanmelding én de annulering heb ik via de app zelf uitgevoerd als enige optie. De status van het abonnement stond daarbij op “license suspended” en er was geen andere actie of optie zichtbaar.

Desondanks is alsnog een bedrag van euro 34,86 afgeschreven. Naar aanleiding hiervan heb ik per e-mail contact met hen opgenomen. Antwoord:
