Excellent. Really looking forward to the other volumes considering how much I learnt from volume 1 alone. Very straightforward to follow. Excellent teaching methods used. This has been the only effective online German course that I have come across. You can listen to it in the car or when going for a walk etc making it perfect for those of us who have limited time in the day.

I feel so lucky to have found Stress Free German in my journey to learn this language. For me, it was more effective than face-to-face classes (in Germany), 1-1 tutoring, youtube videos or textbooks. After listening to the free episodes, I purchased the whole 8 volumes in December 2025. I have completed almost all of them within 4 months and passed Telc B1 test with good scores.

It claims to prepare for A1 and A2 but it covers B1 level as well. It especially helps with speaking and listening, but also very good to build vocabulary, and to understand dativ-akkusativ- genitiv & other grammar concepts.

I am planning to start over and complete all 8 volumes again in order to speak German more fluently.

What can be improved:
1. The pdf files are color coded, but I have no idea what those colors represent.
2. It would be great to have all images as one downloadable pdf file, that way I could just look at all the images at once and try to recall the words and their gender fast.
3. Volumes 5 and 6 were too challenging for me, I just listened to them without understanding much. I almost gave-up. Volume 7 was easier than them. Not sure if other learners agree with me.
4. They often mention comprehensible input videos, I am not sure what they mean. Probably random youtube videos we watch to learn German on our own.

Excellent course. I've been trying to learn this blimmin' language for years, without much success. This is the only course I've stuck with, and, for the first time, I am making real progress. I am currently on Volume 4 and will continue with SFG until the end. One of the many things they do very well is explain the grammar and oddities of the German language. I also appreciate the English cognates they provide to help you remember the new vocabulary as it is introduced. Oh yes, and they are very helpful if you ever need to contact them to download the lessons on your iphone. 5 stars--all around excellent. The best out there I've found.

I am absolutely loving the course. I’ve realised that I am very much a visual learner, and your teaching style truly fits like a glove. The way the material is presented makes learning German feel enjoyable and achievable, and I am incredibly grateful to have found Stress Free German.

Oh wow, I’m really enjoying this. I went through Volume 1 twice just to properly wrap my head around the grammar, and it’s so different from any other online course I’ve taken. Visual grouping and Pattern recognition used in this course makes learning a language fun and easy to follow. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to learn German without the stress. I am now almost finished with Volume 3 of this Deutchkurs. I feel like I’m making great progress. They’ve upgraded the platform so it’s easier to use. I’ve purchased up through Volume 6, so I’m committing to the program.

I love Stress Free German! I’m learning so much more compared to just listening to a German podcast, or watching a video on YouTube. The lessons are structured very well, building upon each other, and they teach you how German woks. LOVE IT!!

I just stumbled upon stress free German and have finished the first 4 lessons and I am very impressed. Having used Duolingo with their BS competition theme and underhanded point purchasing scheme I gave up with that program.

I have also used Babbel which I actual like a lot because of the focus on vocabulary and actual dialogue learning.

Based on just 4 lessons I would recommend Stressfree German to anyone who is curious about learning or is serious about learning German. So glad I found this program

I have been trying my hardest to learn the foundations of German grammar for years. I am conversationally fluent, having been around German family members, but I didn't grow up in Germany and we spoke other languages at home. I have given up many times on the hope of ever becoming competent in using German grammar correctly. Many courses, many books, many tears. I came across Stress Free German recently and did the first volume. Within two lessons, I felt hope for the first time, that I might actually "get it". I've completed volume one and have learned and integrated more than I have in all my previous attempts combined. I will be purchasing all of the available volumes. I am eternally grateful to Mark and the team. Thank you!!

I listened to the first Volume (20 episodes). This went well, and the method worked really well. Especially the format where you can just listen to it on the go, once you open a picture that goes with the lesson. Looking forward to continuing with the next Volumes.

I am on Volume IV of SFG and in my opinion it is the best on-line course out there. It is so cleverly constructed - you learn and you don't even realise it. And it is perfect for those of us who don't love memorising grammmar rules - their method teaches you the rules without you noticing it. Very clever, indeed. Thank you, SFG, you guys rock.

I tried and was frustrated with multiple methods. This one works and is really stress free. Learning is easy, effective and the information is retained. I really am enjoying the process and it is not tedious like other methods.

I’ve never seen such a smart way of learning and memorizing!! I’m mesmerized with this app I already recommended it to 3 of my friends and they’re wooowed with this! It’s an invention to anyone wants to master German ,, and to be honest I just love the tutor he is friendly, funny and to the point

I've found Stress Free German really helpful. The visual memory techniques and compact lessons make learning for me really fun and effective!
The podcast has helped me a lot in starting to build sentences.

Teaching is great. I use Babble also and find this program more practical…

On thing I would suggest is to have larger text button or option to download a PDF In addition to images..Cheers

I’ve been with Stress Free for more than a year now. I listen to lessons on my way to work most every morning. Each lesson lasts a little more than 20 minutes.

Every lesson has Listening Practice Audios, visuals, German media clips, stories, grammar and common every day expressions. Every transcript is written out word for word and I can read what I’ve learned after listening to each lesson.
I have worked my way through 6 volumes (at least 20 lessons per volume).
I’m looking forward to starting volume 7.

I studied German up to A2-2 level at a language school five years ago, but I had not studied it at all since then. Since I want to pass the B1 exam, I started listening to SFG Vol.1, and for the first time, I feel like I am starting to understand German a little. I have also gained the confidence to construct full sentences on my own. Most importantly, studying German, which used to feel so overwhelming, has actually become a bit fun. I am looking forward to continuing with Vol.2. Thank you very much for such a great lesson :)

After using Babbel and Duolingo, I finally stumbled upon Stress Free German lessons and it all finally clicked. I love listening in the car and then taking notes at home again. I love having to repeat with the prompts right away and the spiral review with prompts from previous lessons. The stories Mark tells to make connections have even led me to research my German/Austrian roots. New words are taught with a story that imbeds the word in your brain. I just 20 lessons in a few weeks and then went back to Duolingo for games and I’m acing it all. Thank you Mark!!

I looked at several German learning apps and Stress Free German is the one I prefer for its comfortably paced lessons that are intelligent, thorough and detailed. I've listened to the first 10 lessons so far in my car and was able to pause and replay at my convenience. I love the native speakers who help with pronunciation, as well as the course instructor who feels like a friend already! I've already learned so much.
