Couldn't be more happy. I can pay off debts and be able to live peacefully day to day.

I highly recommend Step Change for help with debt. I was in a complete mess and had debts all over the place and couldn't afford to pay them all. I was soo stressed and worried about it all. My friend recommended Step Change to me and I'm soo thankful she did.
They were kind, understanding and put me at ease from the first phone call. They don't judge at all, they just want to help.
I have just made my last payment this month and it feels amazing, it was a day I never thought would come.
Over my 8 or so years with them I have had to change the amount I could afford to pay many many times, I have had times where I could only pay the bare minimum and other times were I could pay higher amounts to pay it off quicker. They are really understanding if life throws you a curve ball and it effects your finances in a negative way.
I was soo nervous about contacting them at first but im soo soo pleased I did. Don't suffer in silence, contact them for some advice!

What a fantastic charity, from the very first phone call things felt more positive than they had for a long time. We all suffer life events, death of a loved one, low pay, high taxes, redundancy, accident or illness, or a million other reasons for falling into debt. There is nothing, absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, maybe if it was an ideal world and you were the only person struggling, you could beat yourself up, but You aren't, there are millions in the same position. Do not be embarrassed, when you get contact stepchange, you are not judged, you are helped, helped in a way that means you can sleep at night, you are safe in the knowledge that there is finally a gatekeeper between you and the threatening letters and threatened legal actions. Today after 4 years, which weren't easy but easily doable if you follow the advice you are given. If you are struggling today, you could be in my position in a few years, it's honestly not as long as it sounds. Nobody deserves the stress and sleepless nights caused by debt, however you got here. So my advice based on personal experience is, get off your bum and do it, the weight will fall off your shoulders, and if you do contact stepchange, tell them my review persuaded you to do, we'll share the reward. Ha ha. Seriously, stop struggling and start living again. They cannot work miracles but what they do, and do very well is given you a structured way out. I was nervous about ringing but, it was either that or continue jumping every time the phone rang and being terrified of the postman arriving. So, bite the bullet, be prepared for a long chat, be honest and step onto the path you want to be on. Only one more thing to say, a simple but big thank you to everyone at Stepchange

A few years ago I had a large credit cards debt and it is thanks to StepChange for all their help assistance and kindness over these years that I am now debt free.

Oh my goodness my last payment is here after 6 years. I cant thank Stepchange enough for helping me through my 6 year debt payments. They were so approachable and helpful right from the start. I was very worried, afraid and embarrassed about the debt situation I got myself into. I lost sleep every night and really didn't know which way to turn.They were easy to talk to, friendly, and understanding they listened and guided me through this awful time in my life. I have come out of it smiling and much happier. I have no hesitaton in telling people who may be be in the same situation as I was to please give them a call. Let them help and guide you through to better times.

Step Change was recommended to me as an organisation to get in touch with to solve my credit issues. I cannot thank them enough for their support and today feel I should have got in touch so much earlier. There is a clear plan and we now work towards that.

Five years ago I was in a lot of debt (10’s of thousands) and mentally I was nearing the end. phone calls letters all saying this will happen and that will happen if you don’t keep up with payments. Then I found te most wonderful charity. They sorted out all my debts and put them into a payable monthly plan. They told me exactly what to say to my debtors and were the warm friendly voice at the end of the phone. I hope I never do but I wouldn’t think twice about using them again. Thank you StepChange.

My wife passed away in 2019 after a 5 year battle with Cancer and to say I was in my lowest point ever was an understatement and I went off the rails for quite a while and managed to build up some horrific debts at the same time.
Once I got back to reality I realized that something had to be done but from day one was determined not to take the easier route of Bankruptcy but wanted to pay my creditors back as much as possible.
Stepchange Debt Charity was recommended to me by a friend and to be honest was the best decision I made as they discussed the options with me and as I was able to make regular monthly payments a Debt Management Plan was recommended and after the first of many annual reviews was carried out they approached my many creditors who accepted the proposal and just like magic all the nasty letters stopped as well as in my case any further interest payments as long as I kept with the plan!
It has been a long journey with a few hiccups along the way where sudden unexpected expenses led to me missing a couple of payments but after a few years I am finally free of all those debts and feel like a massive weight has been removed from my shoulders.
I would recommend Stepchange to anyone in the same position as I was in...It is a long road but worth it in fact I'm missing not being able to sign into my DMP and check the reducing balance..John

Excellent professional service. When I got a false positive in the summer the charity was there every step of the way. They helped me to put all debts in order, to visualise them all and stop feeling scared every time I got a letter from my debtors. Excellent service client tailored.

I can't recommend StepChange highly enough. After an acrimonious divorce from a very physically and emotionally abusive man, I was left with a mountain of debt, despite previously having an excellent credit rating. I felt very hopeless, but was recommended to StepChange by one of my creditors. The lady who answered the phone that day was absolutely amazing. She was so kind, sympathetic, incredibly patient, and when I told her I have eyesight issues and was struggling with the online forms, she even helped me with that. The advice she gave me was invaluable, and she also gave me something else I desperately needed. Hope. We worked through everything, and although I'm pretty savvy financially, she told me some things I wasn't aware of, which made a big difference. Due to the large debt which my ex husband left me, it's taken me several years to clear that debt, but this is my final month, and I'll be totally debt-free in just a few days, when the final payment is made! That is such a wonderful feeling. I honestly don't think I could've managed to do that, especially so painlessly, without the help of the outstanding team at StepChange. I've had occasional questions over the years, but they've always been there, not only to give advice, but to care. They have always gone that extra mile to help. I can't thank them enough for all they have done. A truly amazing team of wonderful people.

Around June 2025 I was really struggling to meet up with my loans and credit cards so I was introduced to stepchange and they actually stepped in for me by contacting my creditors on my behalf and also set up an affordable monthly plan for me. I am really glad that I met step change, they really changed my life and I will forever be grateful to them.

I approached Stepchange for help in dealing with a debt from various creditors, and they were reassuring and supportive. They took over the arrangements for the repayment of the creditors and helped me to set a realistic budget, leaving enough for me to live on after any monthly debt repayments. Daniel, Finn and Claire helped at various stages with budget reviews, communication with creditors and any queries I had during the process. My debt was cleared in full on the 10th of November 2025. Stepchange and their helpful advisors have assisted me throughout, were easy contact and always available, and I now enjoy life without debt and worries, thanks to their support.
