Ordering process is good, shipping less so
The ordering process is good. The shipping is less so. This is our second order of glass vials. They are not well packaged and arrive broken. Perhaps this is unavoidable but there could be some additional steps in packing that would reduce the chance of damage.

We are terribly sorry to hear about this and will review procedures with the warehouse team to figure out how to improve the product security.
Did the breakage happen with your first order as well? Were all 3 units you ordered this time broken?

Poor communication, slow response, unhelpful
The customer service representative I've worked with does not seem well versed in working with academic customers. They also don't seem to have a good grasp of the ordering process as their instructions have been wrong and things like $100 minimums are a surprise to the representative. Responses take multiple days, and it's been more of a hassle to work with them to replace a broken part on an apparatus they sold us rather than go through another vendor that we did not get original parts from.

Hi Marissa - Your displeasure has been noted, but you did not provide any information to help us identify who you are to know what this is all about.
I've spoken with members of our customer service team and nobody knows who Marissa is or what this might be about.
However, you refer to a "$100 minimum surprise" which did come up today regarding a customer from Wayne State University.
Are you connected with this lab?
If this is the situation being referred to, we'd be happy to discuss this with you further by phone and get it addressed.
Unfortunately, suppliers can change their requirements at will and do not always communicate new processes to their distributors.
We think we have a workaround to this issue

I apologize for the delay in sharing this response. I needed to first investigate with my customer service team to see if I could piece things together and figure out where we dropped the ball.
Which item(s) were delayed without notification? Can you please let me know?
My team showed me an email sent to you on Aug 27th (the day of the order) noting that KORD-2920 was backordered. An anticipated ship date was given for Sept 26th but it seems like it took a little longer for that to ship (Oct 3rd)
The other two items shipped on Sept 3rd. While I'm not terribly pleased that it took five biz days to ship out, since the free ground delivery was chosen, that is within the time frame from this particular drop shipping partner.
While we work on this together a $25 store credit has been added to your account to provide some relief for your disappointment.
Please let us know how we dropped the ball and where we can do better.

Won't try this again
I ordered 2 ml vials. The price appeared to be absolutely great. The vials are for transferring (shipping) serum, so require caps with each vial.
When they arrived I found out why they were so cheap---the 2 ml vials are sold without the caps. Buying the caps would well more than double the price of each unit, and make them the priciest ones on the market.
I've ordered this item from other places throughout the last ten years and never once ordered caps and vials separately.
I've since ordered the items on another website and have requested a return doc for the vials.

I just received a response that Stellar will not take them back because they are non-sterile. These type of tubes are not sold as sterile, they are not individually wrapped and were not expected to be sterile.
We will not attempt to buy lab supplies from Stellar again as they sell half an item and then demand more money to send you the rest. Their response says they are remiss in not labeling the vials 'non-sterile,' but they are only remiss in not labeling the vials as half an item.
Next post will have the picture of the new Stellar vials going in the trash.

Following your response I will send them back. The plastic bag is unopened. I’ve written a couple times to get return instructions, and posted my earlier review after getting no reply. I appreciate your taking them back. I honestly can’t imagine a use for vials for storing or shipping liquid without caps.

Ruth - I'm happy to clarify this again. We DO accept returns of non-sterile product and we offered to refund your money if you would prefer not sending them back.
These tubes were mistakenly labeled as sterile which lead the customer service team to believe they were not returnable.
There is no other error. These are intentionally sold without caps for customers who wish to have options and choose from the many different colored cap options.
We would appreciate if you would not level a false accusation against us.
If it helps you feel better, you are welcome to dispose of them. We intend on refunding your money regardless.
We would hope you could find some use for them rather than sending them straight to a landfill without at least giving them some purpose.

We appreciate all feedback, especially when it helps us uncover an error.
It turns out there was a mistake in the product description - This 2mL tube is actually NON-STERILE and as such, can be returned.
Thanks to you, we discovered the mistake and this has now been corrected.
The customer service team let me know this was the reason why they were unable to assist you further. For the integrity of the supply chain, we don't accept returns for sterile products.
We also appreciate the comment about tubes being sold without caps.
A fair number of customers buy these for kitting and prefer to have the flexibility to choose different colored caps rather than be locked into a single option.
I am happy to say this is a product line that we've begun to focus on more, and are slowly adding versions that come together with caps.
We will be sure to provide a link in the product description directing people who buy capless tubes, to where they can purchase caps.
Now that we know these are a returnable product we could provide you a return label, but it you don't mind keeping them and letting us refund you for the product, its always better than trucking them back and spewing pollution into the air.
Let us know if you would accept a refund and I will see to it that this is addressed promptly (we close in about 25 minutes, so if not today, first thing tomorrow)
